The owner of this establishment is the kindest and most humble man I have ever met. This place was his first business venture that he established after working countless hours as a young teenager and is now in the medical field. Always ensures that the business he created with his humble beginnings always lives up to its reputation and food/service quality.

Note: this review is only for breakfast, as I’ve never had their lunch items. The Ranch House is your typical, classic grill place. The egg sandwiches are solid, and just the hearty, melty breakfast that you need on a cold winter or fall morning. If you want a really healthy breakfast, this isn’t the place to stop. But, if you want the classic egg sandwich, they do a really nice job at the Ranch House. Everything is reasonably priced — the most expensive breakfast sandwich, is, I believe, the egg and chicken sandwich(which is pretty tasty) which is $ 4.29. The home fries are decent, but the sandwiches are much better. There’s a big parking lot and I’ve never had an issue finding parking. The staff is friendly and works quickly. In sum, this is a good option if you need a quick breakfast.

I agree with the other reviewers. Hard to go wrong with a menu with this diversity(not that it includes anything that is rare or other than common grill fare) for these prices. I’ve had the Kielbasa, chili dogs(my favorite), chicken strips, steak sandwich and popcorn chicken. None of it is «OMGAWESOME!!!», but it’s all good, fast and convenient. The comment about eating in is correct as well. I’ve done it, but it’s not clean and I prefer to just take what I order back to my office.

This is a classic grill-and-fry joint. Don’t plan on eating-in; the formica tables are filthy and more often than not occupied by dubious neighborhood denizens. So then, why patronize this establishment? Hot dogs are grilled and served on a buttered, grilled«New England» style bun. Burgers are inexpensive but beefy and the archetype of what a «drive-in» burger ought to be. Opt for the fries($ 2.00 extra) for the entire experience. But add salt; they don’t, nor do they include the little packets in your bag unless you request it. Strange, ’cause nothing else is over-looked. Fried Clam Strips($ 5) come with a cup of tartar sauce. These were abundant(for the cost), juicy and tender with a tasty breading. Sandwiches are fresh and delicious. The bread’s nothing to write home about, but not bad, either. Nothing’s more than $ 9(a «meal» including cole slaw and the de-rigueur fries). It’s not pricey and a very good value for the money. A vast assortment of sodas is available, including Stewart’s root beer, cream soda, orange and grape. Perfect. The neighborhood might be off-putting for some folks. That being said, there’s nothing the area offers up that surprises nor daunts this Brooklyn home-towner. For laughs, eat your meal in the parking lot and watch the flotsam and jetsam of humanity drive in and out of the cheap, hot-pillow motor inn located in the rear, a safe distance from the restaurant. Why hasn’t «Diners, drive-ins and dives» found this place? It appears to us to be the feeding-ground of choice for local police, cab drivers and tradesmen. Service is brisk, efficient and, actually, pleasant. A staff of five or so fellows mans the grills and fryers and doesn’t hesitate to double-team patrons. What’s not to like. Try this place for good, old-fashioned, if somewhat greasy, drive-in food. Did I mention it’s a bargain?

Please note this review is mostly for the hot dog… …which was quite good. Not quite up there with the absolute best dogs in Connecticut but the very good quality combined with the excellent price point of $ 2.24 with tax puts the dog at the Ranch House in the 4-star range. The dog was fine, very typical of the CT style and the sauce was the very nice, grainy chili that you’ll find in a lot of places in the area, however, at the Ranch House things tasted a little bit more sweet than average, and there may have been a stronger hint of garlic involved. Might have just been my imagination on the garlic, but the sauce was definitely sweeter. My only major complaint is the bun was just a tad under-toasted but I was the only customer in the joint and they were probably proud to serve me very quickly in lieu of toasting the bun for just a few seconds more. Guys behind the counter were very nice and I’ll be back to have some eats on the menu beyond the dog.
