Been going there for years and the food is excellent, although the service is awful. These girls are rude, inconsistent, can’t handle being busy and JUST plain awful when it comes to service. I love the food, but after my experience yesterday I might be done!:(

«Gourmet Pub» in Hartford. Tried the Javali(grilled wild boar) and Picadinho(grilled beef and pork), on separate occasions; both dishes were easily enough for two. Be prepared, this is actually a pub, with tables, not a traditional restaurant. My personal Best of Hartford.

Best Portuguese food I’ve had outside of Newark! Don’t let the small place fool you. The food was amazing.

OMG. I had the rabbit special on a Sunday. It was one of the best meals I have ever had. Slow cooked rabbit, broccoli rabe and the best roasted potatoes on earth.

I’ve been coming here for years. The meat is marinated in I believe a wine and it gives it great flavor, very unique and delicious. I’ve tried the primavera house bean soup and it was delicious. The seafood and rice is amazing, very large portions and reasonable pricing. The restaurant is pretty small so I would suggest it for a huge crowd but definitely worth going for a laid back date or just some take out.

Having a yen for Caldo Verde, I coaxed my husband to Primavera based on other reviews. As we arrived at the modest location, he expressed his doubts. But we took a seat, and were immediately intrigued by the menu. We started with the soup and an appetizer of steamed clams nestled in garlic broth, accompanied by a bottle of red Douro. Delectable! We both selected pork dishes, differently prepared, and we enjoyed a wonderful and leisurely dinner in a busy, family atmosphere. I highly recommend it. Advise you to be seated by 630pm: it fills up fast, and closes at 9pm, and lines out the door occurred several times. Looks like it does a brisk take-out business also. Enjoy! — Eve

The lunch special they served yesterday — 9÷24÷2015 was out of this world … It was the«Roasted Veal», incredible … It even top my all time favorite — Pork Chops.

Outstanding food. The pork and clam dish is my favorite. You should try different dinners, the mussels wer awesome. Steak topped with an egg, mmm. Oh, the bread is crusty and so fresh. Can’t find fault with anything, good service varied menu, it’s just a small restaurant, so it can be crowded at lunch, but enjoy. you’ll be glad you went.

Nice quality: price ratio. Portions are big and the quality of the fish is excellent. I recommend steamers, seafood mix, cod fish and calamari

We had lunch there today for the first time and it was fantastic. The owner came out to meet us and ask us how the food was. Loved that. Food was great. My mom has grilled lulas and shrimp. Excellent. We will be back.

Great straightforward Portuguese food in a downscale bar setting, at a reasonable price. We ordered the mixed seafood grill and the cod spanish style(which was a special of the day). The cod was a thick cut, not overdone, with sauteed onions and peppers. I could choose two sides, from potatoes, rice, or veggies. The mixed seafood grill was shrimp, clams, and calamari. Everything was great, and a good value. We’ll be back.

This was our first time here. We ordered the grilled seafood and whole grilled snapper. First impressions were good! Overall, it was very salty, so if you have an issue with salt, I’d be cautious and make sure your server knows. The food was very flavorful and the waitress was helpful when we told her about our gluten allergies. The broccoli rabe was really good and so was the rice. We both REALLY liked the shrimp. If we could do it again, we’d order something different than the snapper, which was pretty fishy tasting… and probably get something else with more shrimp. I got flan for dessert, which was small but delish. The ambiance is that of a corner neighborhood pup and is definitely casual. We are here because of recommendations from friends and coworkers and will be coming back. For a full, delicious seafood dinner, you absolutely can’t beat the price!!!

Simple homemade Portuguese food for a reasonable price. My personal favorites; the«Seafood Mix» and the classic«Pork and Clams». Also try the grilled fish specials! Kind of a «hole in the wall», but a friendly spot full of Portuguese locals. The homemade flan is also a standout!

The Porco Altejana is so good! The potatoes are in the bottom with that delicious white wine gravy. Very well seasoned and also the dish is enough for 3 separate meals ! I always take most of it to go because I get so full. Not a fancy place but the food more than makes up for it!

God I remember when this was the best place in Hartford to get some great chop food. Being 100% Portuguese I have had my fair share of Portuguese cuisine and I think the main reason this place has fallen off is that the old chef/owner isn’t in the kitchen anymore. My GFs food looked like it had been microwaved a couple times before we got it and my porco alentejano had no sauce was basically dry. I don’t even order the seafood mix any more which I use to love cuz the new chef over cooks everything. Trust me guys writing this review breaks my heart.

Primavera is more of a social club than sit down fine dining, so you can get casually dressed but your in for a treat with there large portions and flavorful food. I love the olives and bread that start but I wish they were hot the shrimp and clams is wonderful!

This is my favorite Portuguese restaurant hands down straight up the very best. The soups and main dishes are superb, close your eyes and enjoy your visit to Portugal without jet lag. Any main course can be order as an appetizer which is great if you wish to share a variety of dishes with friends. I have been coming here for 15 years, that should tell you something.

1.) Just to warm you up: I had to give this place a comparison from the other Portuguese restaurant I went to. I wanted to see what all the hype was about from my Portuguese friends. 2.) What your eyes may see: Wow. A small spot, so it can get packed REALLY quick! It looks rather dim and a little dirty, kinda reminding me of a Greek family pizza restaurant. This place got rated«B» under the sanitation grade. Didn’t seem to have much staff on, so you saw the waitress doing both the bar tending and the serving. 3.) Food: My friend and I ordered cod cakes as an appetizer, steak sandwich, and a fish dish. They served us a bread basket with butter in packets. I got to see another woman grab from the bar an oil and vinegar rack to bring to her table. The cod cakes were yummy, I never had cod cakes before. It tasted like potatoes mashed in with cod fish then fried. The steak sandwich was great. In between two loaves of Portuguese bread, the meat was pretty tender. My fish plate was okay. I ordered a Portuguese ale, that was mighty fine especially when I took sample sips out of the glass. It’s amazing what specific glassware can do for a beer’s taste. 4.) Service: The waitress was pretty sweet. Not much to complain about. Food was served in a decent manner. 5.) Impressions: It was rated«B» but that didn’t bother me much. I think it was the cramped, dim, dingy look that got me saying it was OK. Everything on my table was good except for my fish plate. Would I come back here? I guess yes, but that would be in my lower list of priorities. I think I need to try more plates to become a believer.
