Chicken salad wasn’t great, I could tell it had been frozen prior to being applied to bread. Otherwise not bad.

Asiago bread + 3 different kinds of melty cheese paired with gazpacho that also has mozzarella in it = mouthgasm on my lunch break; Can you tell I love cheese?! The sizable portions could have filled me up for a 2^nd meal but, I gobbled this up while picnicing in the park. I’d love to rent this truck for a function.

I have been a visitor to S&S for a few years now. I’ve never had a dissapointing lunch from this place. Most recently, I’ve gotten the hummus wrap and it is excellent, in the past –their chicken is real chicken, their cheese is real cheese. The soups are never disappointing and always fresh. Never had the chowder but then I steer away from seafood away from the shore. S&S is excellent!

Don’t listen to any negative review. I’ve tried this food wagon at least 10 times and the food is very very good! Try it once and you will see! The service is a bit slow but still reasonable. Good food takes a little longer to prepare. The soups are delicious and the food excellenty quality. Very fresh. The prices are reasonable and the chef is courtious. One of the top lunch wagons in Hartford.

I have to agree with other reviewers that this truck is very slow. The grilled cheese is worth the wait though. I personally enjoy the mustard and Carmelized onions. I’m also a fan of the salads, which are quicker than the sandwiches. I would recommend this truck if your in the area.

Stopped by for a quick lunch one day. I opted for the roasted pork shoulder with gruyère. The flavors were excellent — the bread really well toasted and a great balance in the ratio between the pork and cheese. It came with jus, but I have no idea how someone was supposed to take advantage of it sitting on a park bench. They’re a food truck, after all. Plus the sandwich was moist enough (and a bit greasy unfortunately) without it. It came packed with a few slices of homemade pickle which you could either put on the sandwich or pop in your mouth to cut the fat. Soup ‘r Samich was good enough to want to come back for another visit some time soon.
As a plus, they take credit cards, which many food trucks in the area do not.

I love a good soup. There’s nothing finer in life for me. Soup is good for the soul… well, most soup is. And while a sandwich can be equally divine if made correctly, I’m not big on the word «Samich».
They were kind of slow here. I only mention it because if you were pressed for time on your lunch break you may be in for a frustratingly long wait. There were three people waiting that had already placed their order before us when we arrived and it took us close to a half hour to get our food; two grilled cheeses and two clam chowders.
The clam chowder here was watery thin and not very flavorful. There were a lot of clam chunks in it, but again, the flavor just wasn’t there.
Their grilled cheese has mustard on it. I tried to be open minded at first, there are a few things I’ve tasted with mustard that really worked out in the end, but this grilled cheese just couldn’t hack it. It also looked as if the sandwich had been mugged or something. Like someone had angrily stabbed the sandwich a few dozen times for not handing over it’s deliciousness at the ATM. I’m not quite sure if I would call it mashed or shredded. Picking it up and dipping it into the soup was quite a challenge.

Sorry to go against the norm, but I really wasn’t impressed. We waited for what seemed to be an unreasonable amount of time for mediocre food. Their claim chowder wasn’t anything to write home about — no real strong flavor and not quite as thick as I would like it to be. Their grilled cheese — while they try to fancy it up, would be better served in a more traditional fashion. They load on the shredding cheeses so much that the middle of the sandwich is not melted, and the bread looks like it got into a wrestling match on its way out, not to mention, they put mustard on it. It is very clear now, mustard does not belong on a grilled cheese.
I suppose it works for those who work around the area, but it is not a location I will be returning to any time soon.

Just came from enjoying my lunch for the Soup r’ Samich truck. Ordered the Grilled Cheese, with Vermont cheddar cheese on sourdough bread. This i snot your normal grilled cheese. The bread was sliced from a loaf, the cheese was plentiful and sharp. The tomato and onion surrounded by the cheese was wonderful. Got the home made pita chips and garlic hummus to try also. You can tell both are home made, in a great way.
This truck is the only truck on the far side of Elm street. Trust me, you want to walk past the others trucks and cross the street!

Finally! A local food truck with some seriously fresh, tasty soups, salads & sandwiches. After traipsing around the park on my lunch break, I strolled over to Soup ‘r Samich to check out their offerings. There was no line (I was there close to 2, after the usual rush) and unfortunately the truck was out of my first choice, the roasted pork sandwich with pulled slow-​roasted pork shoulder, Bermuda onion, Gruyère cheese, and natural garlic jus, pressed on grilled country white bread with a side of sweet & hot Wickles Pickles. Whew! Definitely high on the list for my next visit.
I ended up ordering one of the specials, a grilled portopbello mushroom wrap with garlic extra virgin olive oil and balsamic dressing, feta, tomatoes, bermuda onions, organic greens, scallions, shredded Gruyère in a warm herb/​garlic wrap. The sweet, tangy dressing, über fresh veggies and garlicky goodness completely made my afternoon. I topped the meal off with a homemade Reese’s brownie — and come on — what’s not to love about that? At least I shared with Nick, who was off ordering at the Thai truck.
Glad to see these guys out milling around the park. $ 6.75 for most sandwiches (not bad), and they’re pretty sizeable and hearty. Can’t wait to come back!

I don’t usually eat at the «roach coaches» downtown, but a coworker wanted to head to the park for lunch on one of the first gorgeous days we had this spring so I went with him. It was actually really good. VERY fresh and made to order. I think it was the busiest truck by Bushnell Park that day so that’s saying something. I had a turkey wrap special and was surprised to see REAL turkey in the wrap and not just lunch meat… and a LOT of it too. It was a good size and a decent price. Some of the soups looked really good — I’m thinking next time grilled cheese and soup is in order. The grilled cheese people were getting looked amazing!

Another spectacular lunch! Had the chicken gorgonzola salad & I cannot believe he is able to make such detailed & tasty lunch items with such a small space!
The line wasn’t too bad but it is expected, since his food truck is the best in Hartford.
GO HERE asap if you work anywhere near Bushnell Park. Had to update this to 5 of 5 because his lunch items are as good as any high end restaurant in town.

Picked up a grilled cheese, tomato soup and homemade brownie while I was visiting my hometown. The food was incredibly rich and flavorful, portions were generous, service was quick and efficient (they even use Square to take credit cards!) Paid just over ten bucks for a meal that lasted me two.

Walked over near Bushnell Park today and decided to take a look. They had fresh gazpacho and a half sandwich for less than $ 6. Good deal for me.
And if the price weren’t good enough, the soup was outstanding! Really fresh and had nice flavoring too. (Almost) as good as my homemade. And the half turkey wrap was plenty big enough too.
Nice people, quick service. A very good food truck. Look forward to returning!

Really good grilled-​cheese sandwich and tomato soup. Lots of other interesting choices in the menu. Will return soon!

I saw this truck drive down Pratt yesterday so I looked it up and it sounded great. They post their location on FB daily so I easily found them across from Max Downtown on Haynes St. The woman taking orders was very nice, she explained they will be there 3x/​week and on elm 2x/​week. I ordered a beef gyro with tzaziki. $ 6 + tax and it is great! 4 huge slices of the gyro meat, field greens, tomatoes and tzaziki in a warm soft gyro thingie. YUM
