Solid breakfast place. I’ve worked downtown for almost 2 years and it still surprises me how many people don’t know about Take Five! I come here for breakfast a couple of times a month and usually get a BEC on a hard roll. Everything is cooked fresh and to your liking. You can add toppings as well. In addition to breakfast sandwiches and omelettes, they’ve got a fruit bar, yogurt, cereal, and some other options for you. The chefs always have smiles on their faces and the people at the checkout ask your name and how your day is going. I’ve only been for a lunch a couple of times but have had the same experience. It’s good, reliable food for a decent price, and you don’t have to fight crowds to get through!

This is Hartford’s little hidden gem where you can get a very tasty full lunch hot entrée for about $ 8 – 9. The menu is different every day with selections of fish, poultry, beef and pork served with sides of potatoes, rice and vegetables. Salads, sandwiches and homemade soups of the day round it off. The food is quite good, but designed for takeout, the aluminum serving dishes won’t fool you into thinking this is a white tablecloth restaurant. Breakfast is one of the best deals in town where you can get made to order omelettes with all the fixings for about $ 6.00. Bagels, muffins and a fruit and yoghurt buffet round out the menu. Unfortunately, French toast and pancakes haven’t made it onto the menu yet. In winter, they frequently have hot oatmeal. The staff is very friendly, server Renee is a friendly face to see every morning and gets to know you r breakfast order if you are a regular. They close at 2 and are not open weekends, so this is really for the workers in town or apartment dwellers who want a quick hot breakfast. They also cater for corporate lunches. I’m a fan and eat there a lot. It is not just for the people who work in the Gold building, but open to the public. Take the escalator off the lobby downstairs to get your fix of good home made meals.

What a hidden gem! In addition to an extensive hot sandwich menu, salad bar and deli counter, Take Five has multiple specials which they post on their website every day. Oh, and fresh soups as well! The staff is courteous and works diligently to get you on your way. Vince and Kevin run the restaurant. Kevin is a fantastic chef and has his own«Kevman’s» Chipolte sauce. Greg is the manager, he keeps things running. They cater too and do a fantastic job, everything from breakfast, coffee breaks, to full dinners. You could eat there every day for a month and not order the same thing. You won’t be disappointed!

I will say 5 stars for the food. Vince and his crew are damn good at what they do. Everything from the Chicken Caesar Wrap to the sandwich specials to hot entrees are excellent. I’ll remove one star for price. Yes, it’s a little pricier than most. The interesting thing is the randomness. You can go there two days in a row, get the exact same thing, and have two totally different prices. Weird!

I just ordered from a catered lunch from Take Five, Vince. We had a super last minute order for the next day and a few places were not willing to help us. He was super friendly and helped me to quickly decide on a lunch order for over 100 people!!! I know the food will be great judging by the service :) — thanks again Vince!

Great home cooked food every day. I just had Baked Scrod Florentine with Sautéed Mushrooms, Spinach with Sherry laced Ritz Cracker Crumb topped a Fresh Lemon-Thyme cream Sauce served with Vegetable, Rice Pilaf… It was fantastic. Some of the veggies used come from their garden.
