We went to Señor Tomas Authentic Mexican Restaurant today for lunch. The food was delicious — we had one of the specialty tacos + the cali burrito — nice portions too. Received great service from our waiter, plus a quick walk through of the art gallery from the owner. Will definitely be coming back! Very friendly!

Don’t get it — Ordered the stuffed pepper and it had no heat or flavor. Service was not great and the place was a bit chilly for my liking. Not going back.

Just got home from Señor Tomas. Our food order was mixed up so I ended up getting the wrong soup. The soup was supposed to be discounted because it was Friday night but because I used my expired groupon as partial payment we were charged fulll price. They don’t allow double discounts but using an expired groupon is like handing them cash. The discount is expired so this was not right. Our meal took 45 minutes to arrive. We live so close but won’t be going back.

Great food & large portions for a reasonable price. Wait staff was great & brought refills without having to ask. Will definitely go again!

Just moved to the area and got a $ 10 or $ 15 gift cert(I don’t remember which amount) to try it so figured why not. Food was good and I thought patio was nice. I thought this could be a great future place to bring visiting friends and family. Similar experience to prior reviewer… they forgot to add cert credit, when waitress went to adjust the bill she informed us that manager would honor the cert but would then take off the $ 2 Wednesday margarita special. Ummm ok it’s $ 2 but seriously management, why make a big deal over $ 2 and lose customers from returning. Poor business move. We won’t be back.

We love the food here and are regular customers. It’s actually one of my favorite Mexican restaurants. However today we used a coupon, buy one, get one free with two beverage purchases. We presented our waiter with the coupon, but he accidentally lost it. He knew he saw it and we suggested he just adjust the bill, when he explained he couldn’t find it. He talked with his supervisor, and gave us just half off instead of one free entrée. This was just wrong! Our party of four all witnessed what happened and the supervisor should have taken his word. I doubt we will be back soon. Prices are also up and portion sizes down. Sad this has happened.

Ate here in mid July. The food here has always been good, but the service has gone downhill considerably. My waiter didn’t check back to see how my meal was until I had 2 bites left. I had to ask a bus boy for more water, twice, and sat waiting for my check for 15 minutes while my waiter ignored me. I finally had to stand up, wave my arms and say«Excuse me!» in order to get his attention. I have been eating here on occasion for over 20 years, but may not ever return.

A staple in the Hartland dining scene. This food is consistently tasty and the service is always above par. Are you really going to feel like you’re in Mexico the entire time you dine… probably not, because this is Wisconsin. But, its good. They do a great takeaway service, table service and provide delish food. Rarely is there a complaint. Portions are large and prices are competitive.(*Note*: for those of you on a diet, order ½ size or kids menu… those portions are more aptly sized.)

I went here with a group of friends. It was good, but nothing to write home about(or to Unilocal about). The service was fine, but they weren’t very friendly. Or should I say that their friendliness seemed forced. First, we reserved table for ten and only five of us showed up. We apologized, they said it was fine, but they still seemed a little irked. Forced Friendliness. Be irked, if you want, but don’t show it. Especially when your customers are being nice. BTW– there was only one other table taken in portion of restaurant we were in. It was a Sunday night around 7:30pm, so not busy at all. Second, it took us a little longer than usual to order. We all came separately so there was a 15 minute time difference between the first and last of us to arrive. Then we were talking, catching up, comparing what sounded good on the menu. From the time our drinks arrived until we were all ready to order was no more than another 15 minutes, but the server seemed impatient through his smiles. Again, Forced Friendliness. My hope is that we just caught the staff when they were hoping to go home early and that this isn’t typical, but, really, we were a quiet, friendly group who just wanted to enjoy an evening out with friends. This was my second time eating at Señor Tomas’s. First time would’ve gotten three stars, too.

We went there for dinner on 2÷8÷14 with two kids. We ate upstairs by the bar. I was wondering if something was wrong because it was a Saturday night and the place was empty. Only one other table had two people at it. The main door has an alarm on it and it went off every time the door was opened(very annoying). The chips were cold(two baskets) and the salsa was like ketchup. We asked if we could order a chicken breast or scrambled eggs for the kids and was told«no» even though this place serves breakfast in the mornings. I had the enchiladas and my wife ordered a shrimp and rice dish. Both were below average. Go to El Beso in Greenfield or Little Cancun in Franklin for better Mexican food.

We walked in and were greeted with any empty room and dismissively waved to «any table». A bit taken aback by the aloofness of the greeting we shouldn’t have been surprised that our server seemed irritated that he had to take our order. From our first interaction with him he barely spoke and, when he did, he could hardly be heard or understood. My wife commented that perhaps he had a hangover? At one point my young daughter spilled a glass of water and we had to go to the bathroom to get something to wipe it up ourselves. No one noticed or helped. The food was«off» tasting. The chips were *very* greasy and chalky. They seemed to come from the bottom of a bag since most were smashed into little pieces. This was intended to be a treat for my children, who love Mexican, but they couldn’t even finish their simple soft shell tacos. My rice and bean addicted son left the majority of it on his plate. Chefs, you know how food tastes when your oil isn’t hot enough and you pull it out a bit early? Yeah, that’s the flavor they are apparently shooting for. All the food tasted as if it were cooked in the same cold oil in the same greasy kitchen. We only went for the measly $ 5 Groupon which, once we arrived at the restaurant, we noticed their«specials» menu restricted their use anyway. Tip: If you’re going to issue a GroupOn make sure your restaurant and staff are up to snuff. We had been to this restaurant a few years ago but will definitely not be back. With so many choices for great Mexican I can’t imagine why I’d waste my time here again.

Our family was looking forward to a fun evening at a so called ‘fun’ Mexican restaurant, but the actual experience was terrible. We walked in at the street level, but there was no one to take us to a table. We wandered around for a bit and then finally went downstairs. The moment we walked downstairs we realized that we had made a terrible choice. It felt like a dungeon down there, and it smelled terrible. At the bottom of the stairs, we were greeted by a waitress who took us to the ‘hostess station’. We were then taken to our table, and given water. Our waiter came, and took our orders. He was sick, as he was coughing and sneezing. He said that he cleaned his hands before he touched anything, but we had our doubts. The food was as terrible as the ambiance, and we are never going there again.

I’ve been here 10+ times, I honestly don’t know why i keep going back. Sadly it is way overpriced, the food is alright but not worth the price. Also, as my Mexican girlfriend reminds me every time we go it is not authentic Mexican food. The beans are on the opposite side of the plate far away from the rice. If it was cheaper I’d recommend it.

A Mexican fiesta for breakfast? Absolutely. Señor Tomas is pretty precious — both the restaurant and the owner(whom I assume is Tomas?). With plenty of booths and a heavy hand of Mexican fanfare throughout, this restaurant will have you smiling in no time. Important points to note: 1) Breakfast menu: Is chock full of interesting egg dishes and a small handful of sweet items(pancakes, Nutella & fruit crepes etc). Don’t overlook the specialty coffee drinks either! 2) Prices: Are pretty fair and straightforward. And hey, you get free chips and salsa… even if it’s 9 am. The salsa has the right amount of kick to it, too! 3) Try: The Machaca — husband went for this menu item and it looked(and tasted) delicious. Super fresh and flavorful. If you’re more into the sweet breakfast items, give the pancakes a go. Expect two pancakes, each filled with one of your chosen fillings. I went for fresh strawberries and Nutella. Thus, I received one pancake with swirls of Nutella and one with hefty slices of fresh strawberries. While the pancakes weren’t the best I’ve ever tasted, they were nicely cooked, fluffy and filled the carby void I was seeking. I would love to head back to Senior Tomas for a lunch feast and sample more of their interesting Mexican fare.

I really enjoyed my experience at Señor Tomas for lunch. Not only was the meal especially tasty, I was extremely impressed by their wide and diverse menu options. In fact, I think I was a little intimidated. This is not your typical Mexican(American) restaurant where you get mainly burritos, enchiladas and quesadillas. They have such a unique list of traditional Mexican cuisine that I simply haven’t seen elsewhere. Everything tasted fresh and very well prepared. I’m really inspired by their menu offerings and honestly can’t wait to go back to sample their other offerings. I highly recommend this establishment for anyone who has a penchant for Mexican cuisine. Enjoy!

We eat here at Señor Tomas every month or so. We normally take –out. because we have two little children and don’t want to ruin other people’s dining experience!!! Up until our visit last weekend, I had only had the enchiladas suizas. It is my favorite and I stressed over trying something new! We had some out of town friends visit last weekend and we decided to take them to Señor Tomas. This was my chance to try something new! There were a few things that needed improvement. We were a party of six and were seated in a tiny corner near the entrance, at a circular table. Not much room for drinks, chips and salsa, and dinner plates! Just a bit annoying since the restaurant was not full and there were plenty of larger tables available Service was slow. We were there for over 1.5 hours and did not order appetizers or dessert. I was very disappointed to find that any question I had for the server was answered with, «I haven’t had it and I have no idea». I did not give them 5 stars because I believe that servers should be able to answer questions about the menu. Is it too much for them to try some of the food? or at least know if the ranchero sauce is tomato based… The food was excellent and very filling. I give them 3 stars for the service, 5 for the food.

I’ve been to Señor Tomas a few times on business trips to Wisconsin. The menu size is just right in my opinion. The service can be slow because the kitchen is in the lower level and the servers have to run up and down the stairs. I always remember the salsa. It is tasty and just a bit spicy. Yesterday, I ordered the enchiladas verdes. My buddy ordered some kind of chicken poblano enchiladas. Well, it looks like they made both orders, but they gave me his chicken and him my ground beef. The problem was that they mixed up the sauces and dressing, so they had to go back downstairs and re-make everything. Oddly enough, the second time didn’t take near as long. This was a problem as the cheese wasn’t melted, etc, etc. It was obviously a mix up in the kitchen, so I didn’t ding the server in his tip. They definitely could have done a lot more to make up for the mistake, but they didn’t. I don’t know, maybe some free guac or something. Anything? Nope. The manager didn’t even come out to check on things. I’ve had OK food here before, but maybe next time I’ll try Moe’s Southwest Grill in Pewaukee. All in all? I would pass.
