Delicious food! I love to find unique local restaurants and try them out. This was a success story! I had the French dip and my husband had the All American Burger, both were excellent. *Bonus* Sweet tea was good too.

Everyone in Hartselle brags about this place. I just don’t see it. The building on the outside is way cool. The inside is kind of plane. The waitress name was Karen, she was very good The food was not very good, Rather bland and just room temperature. The steak I ordered was large but very thin. The prices seemed rather high. This is one of my wife and my favorite places in Hartselle. I love the grilled shrimp salad with the homemade ranch or blue cheese. She usually gets the burger or catfish which she always says is good. Get the choo-choo shrimp as an appetizer, it taste a lot like bang-bang shrimp from Bonefish

Service was very good. Ordered a 12oz ribeye which had absolutely NO seasoning. Appears that they didn’t have any pre-cut steaks and when they made mine, they forgot to add any seasonings(at least that’s what we were told). They did take off the price of the appetizer for the awful tasting steak… if you’re going to charge $ 20 for a 12oz steak, the expectation is that it would be a perfect tasting steak. Don’t think we will be coming back here anytime soon, if ever.

We got there about an hour before they closed, and were seated right away. The food was good(black and blue burger was awesome!), and we all enjoyed it. It took a little while longer than usual to get our food, but the waitress was attentive while we were waiting.

Food was excellent. Very busy and mix up with service causing slight delay, but owner gave us discount. Really wasn’t that slow and everyone very nice. Onion straws awesome.

Food is ok. Prices are a little high. I think the chef should step it up a notch though. What a beautiful place and friendly staff. I ordered the fried pickles as an appetizer and they were too salty and greasy. The burger I ordered was ok but would have been better fresh. All in all everything was good but I think they could do better.

I had heard so many good things about this place so I thought we would try it. Well, once and done! My husband and I ordered hushpuppies as an ap. needless to say they were uneatable, hard as a rock!!! Then our main course was chicken fettuccine, it was worse than frozen store bought.(May have been, it was cold). I told the waitress, she offered to «microwave» it, which you cannot microwave Alfredo sauce! It was not creamy it was so gross and slimy. Could not finish. Just politely paid our bill and got out of there.

Great restaurant to go to here in Hartselle. It’s a step above the rest I would say. They have a variety of food, I’ve never tasted anything bad from there. Go check it out. Great deserts to.

Classy, casual atmosphere in old train station. Trains still run by the place. Juicy BBQ paninis, homemade chips. Cakes are made on premises and incredible. Nice to walk to surrounding antique stores afterwards.

The food is quite good. My wife and I enjoyed the black and bleu burger, and the homemade potato chips were neat. The atmosphere is really nice. The service is tragically slow. It might be worth waiting for if we lived in town, but waiting 30 minutes for food while on a road trip grates a bit.

2nd anniversary lunch. Got ignored about 10 minutes. Had to flag other waitress for refills. Burnt appetizers. Offered to-go cups for our tea, never got them. Had to cut our day out short to rush home to the bathroom. Need I say more?

I very much enjoyed this unique restaurant! It’s easy to see how it was converted from a train station and this adds to the great atmosphere. The décor is very warm and inviting. I am a huge bleu cheese burger fan and am definitely not easy to please when it comes to a restaurant burger… but, the Freight House Black and Bleu is divine! Perfectly cooked, seasoned and presented… and real creamy bleu cheese! yay! I ordered the chips and they were ok, but I am not a big«chip» fan in general. The sweet tea was very good! The staff was just friendly enough, which I always appreciate. All in all I really love this restaurant!

This building was the train station in the old days of Hartselle. Don’t be surprised when a train goes by right outside the walls of the restaurant. It does not bother me as I feel it adds to the atmosphere of the place. There is a small fireplace at the back of the restaurant and it felt really good on a cold day like today. I had the Black and Blue Burger. It is a big hamburger topped with blue cheese sprinkles and onion rings It is served on Sour Dough bread. Very tasty. I chose the homemade potato chips and they were very good. Chips are served with a tangy dipping sauce. Both of my friends chose the special of the day… chicken fried steak and gravy served with potatoes, field peas and a homemade yeast roll. Two thumbs up on the special of the day. The Freight House serves very good sweet tea. served in a quart jar so you do not have to worry about refills. Great place for lunch!
