Maybe the Art is not first class, maybe the place is a little overrated but they are trying and for beginners they are doing very nicely. Give it time, I’m sure it will improve. The concept and the building is a very nice start.

HORRIBLEGUESTSERVICE!!! My fiancé and I so desired to have our wedding here. My mother, sister, fiancé and I met with Teresa Baber for a showing of the facility. She was so rude to everyone during the showing. She was shutting off the lights in a dark hallway on my family as we walked through, never congratulated us on the engagement, did not take time to talk about open dates, prices or answer many questions we had. We went there, prepared to right a check for a down payment but walked away so disappointed when Teresa could only give us maybe 10 minutes of her time and offered no packet of information. I not only asked her for available dates of the following year 4 separate times but I had to reach out to her AGAIN to finally get the dates that she said she would send. When I received them, they were not accurate at all. So sad that it didn’t work out just because of their personnel. We found a GREAT Venue in Rockford, same look and WAY better guest service.

My husband and I seriously do not get what this monthly event is all about! The glowing reviews must have been submitted by the artists and/or family members. The restored Starline building is pretty neat. There is a gravel parking lot across the street, but it is very uneven and the nearby sidewalks are also treacherous to navigate in places. I’ve gone twice and it’s not a fluke… the attendees seem to think they are at a spectacular art showing. However, most of the artwork is mediocre(and overpriced). We’ve seen much better talent at outdoor juried art and craft fairs. The food and drinks are OK. Music is actually the best part. We were stunned to see how many people turn out for this event. After 2 visits we just can’t comprehend the attraction. IF you have to see what all the fuss is about… check out Groupon. Last time we went we scored cover for 2(normally $ 5/person), and 2 drinks for $ 10.

Unexpected gem hidden in the midwest. This is the space of many artists with lots of work on display and for sale. They also host classes and 4th Friday open house events. I am already thinking of my next visit! Went here in winter so there was definitely no outdoor space to see.

Fourth Fridays at Starline is a monthly event featuring art, live music, appetizers and a cash bar in the extremely cool old factory building adjacent to the train station. It is really worth a visit — a great time in a beautiful venue. It’s so much fun to wander through the space with glass of wine, enjoying the photography, sculptures and paintings. Upstairs, you can visit with artists in their studios and purchase their work. We’ll be back often(except for September, November and December when they apparently don’t hold this event) This is a true gem in an unexpected place.

My husband and I are so happy we went with the Starline! It was perfect for our large wedding. The main room is a huge space that allows you to do whatever you want with decorating. There is a patio and also a space outside the main room that allows people to chat in a quieter area. We used this space for cocktail hour. We have heard so many wonderful things from our guests about how much they loved the Starline. The wood beams, exposed brick, and the ivy outside were so beautiful and allowed for incredible photos. Throughout the wedding planning process, we communicated with Teresa. In the weeks leading up to the wedding I had so many last minute questions and had to call her often. She was great about returning calls, making me feel like everything was handled, and addressing any concerns I had. The day before the wedding we were able to spend the whole day setting up(which took away the stress of setting up the morning of the big day). Teresa was there to help with whatever we needed and also returned in the morning so my family could do last minute decorating and to make sure everything looked great. She was such a help throughout the weekend. We had hired a wedding planner to help make sure everything ran smoothly, but honestly, Teresa helped us out more than enough where we regret spending extra money on a planner. Another nice thing about the Starline is that you can come back the following morning to clean up rather than having to do it immediately after the reception. We chose to just have our reception there, but it would also be a great spot to have a ceremony as well. Lastly, the Starline is right next to the Harvard train stop which was so nice for guests coming in from Chicago. I am so happy with the Starline and continue to hear such positive feedback from our guests.
