SAVEYOURMONEY!!! Same as everyone else, my husband & I were very excited to have us some BBQ after our movie only to be let down by the very dry, over cooked meat, undercooked stuffed bland potato & can greenbeans. Chef Ramsey & Irvine would have chewed Billy Bob to pieces. As an App we ordered the wings which tasted like cardboard & seemed as though they sat under a heating lamp for the last hour. No ranch dipping sauce came w/them I ordered the pulled pork undercooked, bland bake potato. I had to add tons of butter and sour cream so get the tatter to go down. My husband ordered the 3-meat platter. His meat was very dry & not flavorful. He drowned his pulled pork in the BBQ sauce condiments from the table The best part of our meal were the fountain drinks. Our server Mila was very good. Some guy came to see how our food was & walked away heading to the bar where he had a drink waiting leaving my dirty plate for someone else to pick up. I HATE when dirty dishes are left on the table. I do not care who you are, restaurant manager, floor manager, no-one is to good to remove the dirty dishes. For a $ 48 lunch I should have stuck to my original plan of homemade fajita’s!

The service is an abomination all the way from the«hostess station» to the actual servers. They seem to know nothing, nor care about what customers might actually enjoy. Just awful. They rush you out of the door before you even order, or at least it seems that way. The food was okay, but some of it tasted microwaved. The potatoes don’t taste baked, but they do taste boiled and later warmed in foil, not sure if this is the case. We were never offered a bar menu until we asked if they had drinks. The bar menu is extensive… a huge menu back and front. We ordered two drinks, and were informed much later that they were out of both. Sorry. I did order the 9.99 steak and two sides, NY strip. The steak was flavorful and cooked correctly(rare) as I carefully instructed the server that I indeed wanted it «rare». Two in our party ordered the brisket, which is flavorful, but a little salty. The macaroni and cheese is wonderful, however. It really is. The space is beautiful, but the service and the lack of true professional servers is glaring. Prices not commensurate at all. Presentation, marginal. Lots of paper and styrofoam. On that note, there was a nice young man who is probably the manager. He was very eager and did seem to care. He was the brightest one on the floor as well. He seemed talented and experienced. I want to support Westbank businesses, but this venue is lacking good service. This was my second time going, by the way. Previously we went for lunch. They do not serve coffee either, so if you like that after a meal, not here. We were never offered dessert either, just presented the bill before we asked. We would have had dessert certainly. I am not sure what direction this place hopes to go in, but it was very sketchy.

Billy Bob’s had such potential. Unfortunately it didn’t come close to meeting my expectations. When my friend suggested we try Billy Bob’s, I was excited. I am a BBQ fan and the BBQ offerings on the west bank are quite slim. As we entered we were greeted by the manager. He was very friendly and promptly seated us in a booth. Our server arrived and I ordered us some fried pickles. These were the star of the meal. It came with remoulade sauce, but we added ranch. The ranch was the better accompaniment for the pickles, and we thoroughly enjoyed them. The server was very attentive, almost to the point of being around too much. She was very friendly and nearly forced refills upon us. My friend had a hamburger and I had the brisket. The food was not very good. The brisket seemed OK at first, but once I got past the sauce, the brisket was very dry. I did taste the smoke flavor, but it seemed over cooked. The hamburger was the same. No custom temperature here, just dry and overcooked. The mac n cheese side was pretty good, but the potato salad was very ordinary, and I didn’t enjoy it. So why three stars for such a mediocre meal? The service was very friendly and attentive. The restaurant itself is attractive and reminds me of the Texas BBQ joints that I am so fond of. In summary, the service and ambiance were good, the food was not. Billy Bob’s delivered a three star experience.

Oh, Billy Bob’s, I really wanted you to be more than three stars. When I went here for lunch today, I was pretty excited. I had been looking forward to checking this place out since it had opened a few months ago. I like BBQ and sandwiches(although I’m no BBQ aficionado) and I went in with an open mind. As soon as I walked in, my friend and I were greeted by the manager and were immediately seated. We then met our server who was extremely friendly, attentive, and helpful. For an app we ordered the fried pickles which came with ranch dressing and another dipping sauce. They were really good and got me excited for the meal. I ordered the hamburger, only because I wasn’t in the mood for a huge meal and my friend ordered the brisket. I got an order of mac and cheese as my side. When my burger came, it was dressed pretty basically with lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles. The burgers aren’t cooked to order, and the one I had was pretty dry and over cooked. It wasn’t juicy at all and I didn’t even finish it. The mac and cheese was good, but it wasn’t overly spectacular. My friend ordered potato salad with the brisket, which I tried, and could tell that it was likely store bought(which isn’t horrible, but I’ve had better). All in all, the place was a solid three stars. The staff was amazing, the atmosphere is nice and the food came quickly. I was sad to see that there weren’t more people in here. I really am rooting for this place, especially because I think the Westbank needs an «authentic» BBQ place.

I loved this restaurant when I went. I wouldn’t have even known it existed if not for NOLAMARKETPLACE on ABC. The food was great, available in multiple sizes so they were able to take care of me and my husband. They have a great selection of sides as well. We dined at lunchtime so the noise level was very low. We even ordered a larger portion to take home for dinner later. The server was great with my 6-yr old son, who spilled his drink twice. The only thing I could even think to say negatively is there seems to be a need for more organization within the FOH staff. The servers seemed to do all the seating, there was no obviously designated host, and they didn’t seem sure of where the next table was to be sat. That complaint may come from a pet peeve of mine as a restaurant manager myself, however, and not something a normal patron would even notice. The decorations are awesome, especially for the kids. I wish they would do more advertising because this restaurant is a hidden little gem. I live in Destrehan, and always suggest this as a spot for lunch when I join my husband, who’s office is in Harvey. It’s nice to have a real BBQ place. 5STARS!

This is the site of an earlier restaurant that served Americana and New Orleans styled foods. The owners looked around(according to the menu) and decided to provide a restaurant unique to the west bank. Unfortunately, I think that the food produced by the prior restaurant was better than the current one. The site itself it wonderful. It’s in a upscale strip mall composed of buildings surrounding a man-made lake/fountain. There are child-size statues of swans and children that encourage the play of children. It has outside seating that is comfortable even in the summer because of both shade and the fountain. The service is quite attentive and professional. The food does not match the price that you would pay for it. Truly unfortunate! I have ordered brisket – which was tasty but very fatty. I suggest you go to Whole Food(both locations on the East bank) instead. I ordered a hamburger and baked potato at another time. The cost was approximately $ 19. I’ve paid this much for a burger before in some of the new upscale joints that appeared after the storm. They were juicy and well prepared. This was a hockey puck. I urge the owners to try again(or find a new chef). They have a perfect location and perfect staff. They just need food that matches the setting.

I remember how excited we were when we first saw the billboard advertising Billy Bob’s. A new restaurant on the West Bank? Barbecue? Wait, slow smoked BBQ? We knew we would to try it. We ended up eating there on opening weekend. We did not realize it had just opened or I probably would have stayed away a a couple of weeks. We had issues with our service. I was understanding though. I mean, I knew it was only Day 2 by the time we ordered, so I was not too upset. with little mistakes. In hindsight, we probably should have left when it took 10 minutes to be greeted by a hostess. I could tell she was busy. She was running around like a maniac so I dismissed it as opening weekend chaos. Our server tried– maybe a little too hard. He kept calling me señorita. We received un-sweet tea when we had ordered sweet. We decided to just drink it rather than wait a long time for it to be corrected. Unfortunately our refills later in the meal were un-sweet as well. We waited quite a long time for our food. It seemed everyone else had a long wait. All around the restaurant you could see diners with bored looks on their faces. It seemed no one was having any fun. The food? What a disappointment, in full disclosure, I am a misplaced Texan. I have high standards when it comes to BBQ. I usually don’t have super high expectations when trying a BBQ joint outside of my home state, but I do try to go in with an open mind. I wanted to like this place. I really did. The little blurb on their menu claiming they slow smoked the meat had me so excited! Maybe this would be a place we could run to when we did not feel like using our own smoker. Yeah, not so much. The place did not even have that wonderful smell of smoke in the air. We thought the brisket was okay. Not super flavorful, but definitely the best of what we ordered that day. The short ribs were absolutely horrible. The sides were bland. The turkey tasted like one that had been oven baked, not smoked. The restaurant looks exactly like what it was-like they slapped a bunch of stereotypical Texas country décor around the place to change the look of the previous eatery. It was very kitchsy, and not in a good way. It looked so much nicer when it was Alligator Pear. The food was better too. I am usually willing to give a place a second chance, but there just was not a thing about this experience that would make me think they could redeem themselves in the future.

I got the baby back ribs & they were horrible. Tuff, I broke two plastic knives on them. They sat me by the entrance & everyone that walked in & the wind would almost blow my wife’s & my food off the table. The manager was unhelpful & didn’t even offer to move us or take anything off the bill. The only thing that was good was the server. Don’t waste your money. By the way, it was expensive as far as BBQ goes. This Place Sucks!!!

We went here right after they opened and were super-duper underwhelmed, but I’m glad we gave it some time and went back. They seem to have finished decorating, hiring staff, and training everyone a month after they opened. The fried pickles are tasty. The batter holds onto them well and the ranch is good too. The brisket is fork-tender, and even if you get a «sandwich» you get enough meat for at least 2 sandwiches(I always take 2⁄3 of it home). The mac & cheese is baked and tasty– not too oily, pasta not falling apart. & their sweet tea and lemonade are both good. The atmosphere is very kid-oriented– cartoony kitch, lots of tvs(usually with sports playing). The outdoor seating is nice. Whatever you do, though– don’t agree to sit at the high-top table! We sat there on our first visit and the sides slope so it’s hard not to wind up with your food in your lap or a drink on the floor.

All I can say is… at least the sweet tea is good? Service is decent. Food, not so much. Was our first time here and will be the last. This place is terrible. Ordered brisket… soo tough and chewy. Chicken was dry. Very overpriced for not even mediocre bbq. Waiter recommended anything but the ribs bc theyve gotten complaints of it being tough, thats why I ordered brisket in place of my usual fave ribs. Overheard the waitress tell a customer that they’ve been closing early every day since they opened up last Thursday due to the meats«selling out» and being out of supply. If you own a bbq restaurant, shouldn’t you be prepared to have enough meat? Seems like the owner opened this place to make a quick buck. Again, terrible.
They should have stuck with the Alligator Pear. The food was much better. Same owners. I guess the Alligator Pear wasn’t making money. So we now have this over priced BBQ place with mediocre food. Service was slow. Kitchen and waitstaff seemed disorganized. Waited 45 mins for a ½ pound of brisket and a baked sweet potato. Had to send the potato back because it wasnt wasn’t a sweet potato. Brisket was ok. Sweet potato was served with only a small amount of butter. I prefer the way the Road House serves it, with cinnamon butter. A little brown sugar might have helped.

The sweet tea was good and our waitress was nice. Unfortunately that’s the only good things I have to say. We were never greeted by the hostess just seated literally in the doorway. We were asked twice if we had been helped until finally the waitress wrote her name ON our table. Our food took 40 minutes but still came out cold. My nachos were soggy and had a few peices of chicken and canned cheese. They came with jalapeños even though I asked for them without. The brisket was tough fatty and also cold. We were charged for macaroni that we asked for but never got. The complimentary cornbread was cold and gross. Our waitress was very apologetic for the bad food though. Reminds me alot of Alligator Pear, just different décor.

I really wanted to like this place, I really did. No such luck. I would like three thing when dining: good food, good value and good service. I got ONE out of three. The good point, our server Alicia. She was great, very attentive and explained anything we asked about. If I owned a restaurant, she is the type of server I’d love to have. Now the bad… the food was mediocre at best. We drove from the Quarter to find this place and wish we would have just gone to Voodoo or The Joint. I ordered the two meat platter to try and get a good sampling of everything. I ordered: brisket, baby back ribs, mac & cheese and cole slaw which came with Texas toast for $ 15.75. Let’s talk value first, I got three slices of brisket and three baby back ribs(remember those are the small ones!), along with a small styrofoam cup of slaw, a scoop of mac & cheese and two pieces of what looked like toasted Bunny bread(not what I’d expect from Texas Toast). I’d expect more meat than that for starters but maybe since they were running out of everything they were skimping on things. The meats were nothing special at all, the brisket was fatty and one hardly lukewarm and the ribs had a decent amount of meat but they were so small(and served wrapped in tinfoil). The sides, I ordered mac & cheese and slaw and was brought potato salad and slaw. Alicia quickly brought the correct mac & cheese and told us not to worry about the potato salad. Lagniappe, I get to taste test something else… it wasn’t that exciting either! It was kinda like mashed potato salad and pretty bland. The mac & cheese was oily and not very cheesy. The slaw was ok but how can you mess it up when you have chopped cabbage and you pour in some dressing and mix it up. Again, nothing special. The restaurant looked like they had taken a existing restaurant and tried to quickly flip it into a BBQ joint by hanging some western looking lighting fixtures & other décor, covering the existing booths and chairs w/some cow print material and a country satellite radio station. I google searched the address and found it used to be the Alligator Pear Café, just as as I expected. We keep looking for the ultimate BBQ place and the search continues! Even the people at the table next to us told the manager how disappointing their meal was, we never got to tell the manager our thoughts but it seems like we aren’t the only ones. I now see another friend in facebook has also been there and described it as «S%&T!» and it’s not in a good way. I guess we’ll stick with Voodoo and the occasional trip down to The Joint.
