I brought my 2004 motorhome to Stepper to have three problems fixed. The slide would not retract all the way on one end, the DVD played needed replacing and a window leak. The slide and DVD were covered under the extended warranty. The window leak was not. All three problems were repaired to my satisfaction. The cost of the window repair was reasonable. Bruce B

I needed some repairs to my class b pleasure way and found it difficult to get anyone to work on it locally so I had to drive it here 90 minutes away. Stepper did a good job on repairing the leaks in my water/grey water system but failed terribly on the automotive side. I needed a belt changed, a tuneup and my dash power supply receptacle replaced plus I had a leaky windshield washer fluid system.(All of which they offered to do-normally I would take automotive work to my normal mechanic but all in one shop seemed a great thing since I had limited time before I had to hit the road.) When I picked up the vehicle I soon noticed a lack of power when I got it on a ramp to a bridge and a top speed that was only 65 that could reached after long periods of pedal to the floor and the check engine light came on. I called Stepper back and got an excuse that the lack of power was probably due to a clogged catalytic converter(on 90k Mileage vehicle?!) I popped the engine cover and quickly found that the number three cylinder wire was not properly seated at the distributor. Which was where the check engine light indicated a cylinder misfire) put some conductive grease and reseated all of the wires. Also checked the air filter and noticed that the throttle linkage was slack(seems that mechanic had knocked something askew) put the wire back into the obvious v notch tensioner and figured I had solved my problems. I did not have time to take it back to stepper before I had to get on the road but I let them know of what I had found. On the road the power supply receptacle quit working and took the radio with it after just a couple of hours and it’s not a fuse. Also the washer was leaking yet again, and my check engine light came on again and the lack of full power and acceleration still remained but I limped to my destination. Once there my mechanic friend and I discovered that the number three cylinder was still misfiring and the spark plug had only been put in hand tight.(Heat shield makes this harder to do and we figured the mechanic had been to unwilling to take it off to address the spark plug properly) we also realized the throttle linkage was not just knocked off the tensioner as I had thought but an adjustment fitting was missing so we made one and cleaned the throttle body. Engine works fine now. Catalytic converter? No problems. A mechanic just trying to make excuses for a lack of attention and possibly looking to replace something unnecessarily? I think so. I also saw where my washer bottle link was pretty quickly so I suspect he did not even bother to look despite being told that he had tightened everything but found no leaks. The wiring to the power supply hasn’t been checked yet as it must wait until I have some time. Bottom line: good for RV specific repairs but their automotive mechanic is terrible(and expensive as well even had it been done properly.)

My wife and I live in New Orleans and have an RV with all the normal issues… all of them. We are not retired or wealthy. We live in our RV full-time. These guys understand and are happy to help. They found the best parts available and worked to get a good deal. They also kept me in the loop along the way as they looked for parts, diagnosed problems and put together the plan to get us back in our home. The technicians know what they are doing and are willing to do whatever it takes to get you back on the road as soon as they can. The office team is professional, courteous and treat people like they matter… crazy, right? This is a family run shop that wants to make you feel welcome right away. Not only were they super kind to me, I watched how they interacted with other customers, vendors and(of equal importance) each other. I couldn’t help but notice how respectful and cool they are with everyone. To me, that alone is worth coming back. I’ve been to a couple of other truck and RV shops in New Orleans; I have not had the best luck. The folks at Stepper are the friendliest, most honest I’ve met in New Orleans. They also have the most reasonable shop-rate of any shop I could find. I would recommend them to ANYONE traveling through the area, or to any locals who want to keep their RV in great shape.
