I seriously love this Winn Dixie. When I was a kid, my mom always shopped at our local WD and I took it for granted moving to Louisiana. Now, I’m near one and I love everything about WD. The people here are super friendly and helpful. Prices are amazing. WD I never knew how much I missed you until I moved to the West Bank.

This review is based solely on their hot deli food. I had the white beans and rice and the buffalo chicken wings today for lunch. Ooooweeee that was some good shit! Beans and rice were super flavorful… just enough salt and pepper in it. Added a little hot sauce to make it perfect. The chicken wings were huge and tasty as hell. I got a heaping amount of beans & rice and 5 large wings for $ 5.99. Can’t beat that!!! They have other meats and sides, too: ribs, honey baked chicken, fried chicken, chicken tenders, mac n cheese, corn, green beans, greens.

This is the grocery store that I cut my teeth on in the shopping world. This particular location is the one at which I judge all other grocery stores. Not this place is that awesome, but been coming here for so long. The layout makes sense, the fresh fruit and veggies section always has a nice clean selection out, the meat dept. has some nice looking meats… hehe and the freezer area isnt all defrosted and nasty with towels around the bases of the machines soaking up melted ice cream and hashbrown. It also has a Coinstar machine to turn your loose change into iTunes money. Yay. Also this location is always one of the first stores to reopen after a natural disaster. I have definitely logged in my hours in the Winn Dixie line ride for bread and ice.

The produce selection at this Winn Dixie is good — if you catch it the day that it comes out. A lot of it does sit around a bit too long. In fact, whenever I shop here, I see a lot of items that are further reduced for quick sale(meaning, their sell by date is probably tomorrow). This is awesome if I need a pack of mushrooms to make dinner — not so great if I plan on cooking something with them later on in the week. When I come here, I make sure to check the sell by dates on every item of perishable food. It’s common sense everywhere, I suppose, but this Winn Dixie seems to have issues with rotating their merchandise(or, perhaps, selling merchandise). Other than that, this is a fairly large store with a good selection of everything. They have a full deli and bakery. There are those large obnoxious kiddy carts that have steering wheels for the children. This can be seen as a positive or negative, of course. Oh, and I just discovered the Winn Dixie app for android. It automatically updates the sale items each Wednesday and allows you to create a shopping list. Perhaps not overly useful, but fun to play with!
