Can you imagine a restaurant refusing to serve a customer who just walked in? First, I was turned away by a sever as they could not open another table on the deck for me. The rule was only 4 tables could be open until 4. In fact, a fifth patron was seated outside of the«barrier». After, leaving I decided to return and asked for the Manager. He in turn, refused to seat me. Right out the door I went. Why could he have not checked to see if one of the tables were leaving shortly? Why could he have offered me a seat inside until a table opened? I was alone, and completely turned away. I’ve been to The Grotto many, many times. We eat out almost daily. I would have to seriously consider ever returning, especially since the food is mediocre, at best. The customer service sure needs 100% improvement.

I don’t know why this place only has 3 stars. It is by far one of our favorite pizza joints including pizza places in NYC. We haven’t had good luck with the desserts, but pizzas and wings rock at this place. My husband loves«the Works», but we have tried almost every single specialty pizza on their menu and even built our own pizza and they have always been good. People are being unfair with their reviews for this place. I must say service is not superb. Take out and dine in. Maybe they can spend some time and money and train their wait staff and front cashiers

We decided to try the pizza again, so sorry we did. It was delivered in one hour and was Luke warm, dry and so disappointing! We only live 2.5 miles away! What a disappointment once again! !!!

Grotto — I love you! I live in Philadelphia and occasionally drive to Delaware to get my hands on some Grotto pizza. Nothing compares. This location is obviously the best as its the original and overlooks Harvey’s lake. The beers are served in chilled mugs, the pizza comes out quickly and there are games to play while you’re waiting. Best pizza in PA!

We went here this past Monday for a family dinner bc we saw they had a pizza special, $ 5.99 for a 12in 1 topping pizza. We ordered 2 to eat there and one to take home. The pizza was pretty good. We will defiantly order some again. I wasn’t to happy with the kids meal selections and the fact that their Mac & cheese is just boxed Mac & cheese which you pay almost $ 4 for. Their fried veggie basket was a bit of a disappointment, you didn’t get much for what you paid for and they were pretty over fried. The mini potato pancakes were pretty good and I enjoyed their French onion soup. I got ½ dozen of their Sweet Chili wings to go. Those were amazing and I wished I had gotten a full dozen. Over all the food was decent except for a few things, the waitstaff was friendly and our server was on top with our requests and add ons we requested later in our meal. The inside of their dinning area is majorly out dated and could use a facelift but we would go back in the future.

What horrible customer service. I ordered delivery at 8:54pm a large pizza and a dozen wings. The server said it would be 30min to a hour. I call back at 9:57pm, just to check if everything was ok, and check on the status of my order; my server said it had left 15min prior to me calling. She didn’t ask my name nor did she know my order. At 10:20pm my girlfriend spoke to a manager, we were offered a discount, but no an answer to the wait or why they would give some such“run-around” tactics. So the sum to all of this is I never recommend ordering delivery from Grotto pizza in Harvey’s Lake.

After many years of going to grotto I am very disappointed in the service they now provide. Kids waited over 2 hours for the right order to be delivered, no apologies and no concern. They just have a whatever attitude, very unfortunate to see such a great pizza place deteriorate.

I’ve been coming here and to the other PA Grotto Pizza locations my whole life(30+ years.) It’s not the best pizza in the world, but it’s pretty good. I always order mozzarella sticks, and last night we also ordered boneless chicken wing bites. Everything was okay. It’s a beautiful location with a nice view of the lake, and it’s huge. We ordered sicilian last night for the first time, and, despite asking for no onions, they were on the pizza. :(So some of us(myself included) could not enjoy the pizza, but the other stuff was alight. I’ve had calzones and even burgers here before too, and they’re not bad. Honestly, I feel like you eat here for the location, not especially for the food. I’m sure I’ll be back, but not with great enthusiasm. :o/

I grew up going here for all my little league parties and other events, place had friendly staff and an arcade which I loved. Very kid friendly still, they give you free helium balloons if you ask. Food is pretty good, never had too much of a complaint, wings are better than average. Bar service is okay, not a huge selection. Service was adequate, but nothing above and beyond.

I love grotto food. But the service is terrible. 20 minutes for drinks. Asking for stuff numerous times… Over an hour for food. And I wouldn’t write this review if it didn’t happen every time I came here. I love the lake and come here often and everytime it’s the same. Grotto needs more servers and a better system. Legit not kidding. I wrote this review when we got here at 6:15 after not receiving drinks or a waitress for about 20 minutes. It’s now 8:00. We just got our food and are now waiting on the check. Seriously … I’m going to bug out sitting and waiting here. THISISRIDICULOUS!!!

I go to the Lake Grotto for one thing and one thing alone — their BBQ Chicken Pizza. My husband and I drive 30+ minutes for it and don’t mind the ride one bit to eat in, and we’ll take out if we are having friends over for pizza. My only complaints are; the décor could drastically use an update and the teenage service kills the dine in experience.

Ah… One of the pizza places of my youth. In fact, in fourth grade, I at so much pizza there that I emptied my stomach the wrong way. I couldn’t eat pizza for two year. Eventually, they burned down, but rebuilt and opened the current store. To be honest, in 21 years since I moved out of this area, I’ve lost a taste for their pizza. The sauce is good, but on the sweet side. The cheese is fresh, but again doesn’t have must taste. The crust, on the hand, is quite good. My people up here often tell me that this is no longer the best Grotto Pizza in NEPA. And I know the ones by the Delaware Beaches are much better. However, it is a perfectly good place to get some Friday Night Pizza.

Probably not a place I’d ever go if it weren’t for the location right on the lake. As it is, I end up here a few times every summer, when we’re taking a motorcycle ride through the area and around Harvey’s Lake. The pizza has either changed over the years or my taste has. Either way, I wouldn’t make a special trip here just for the food. The cheese tastes like cheddar to me, and the sauce reminds me of a sweet sauce with enough black pepper added in that you can smell it. That atmosphere is pretty much your standard sports bar with TV’s and beer signs. It seems to be kept pretty clean. The outside deck wraps around a good part of the building, and it’s a good spot to hang on a summer day and look out toward the lake. This place gets packed on summer weekends when the lake is crowded. Seems to be a mix of bikers, college kids and local peeps. Overall, the vibe doesn’t seem all that different from a chain restaurant, for better or worse. Not horrible, but not a destination spot, either.

I don’t dig this location as much as Wilkes-Barre because the bar is disappointingly sans Buzztime Trivia(this was not always the case). Back in the day, the bar area had some great pin ball games as well, but those are also gone. The pizza is pretty good, but come for the outside seating near the lake. Don’t forget to feed the ducks your crust at the end of your meal!

I grew up in NEPA, I love Grotto, I crave it hard every time I come home from California. I was just in and I could not wait to wolf down a pie. The only complaint that I have it that their crust varies in goodness, sometimes it is amazing and sometimes it is not so good. Also the wings here rock, the grand slam sauce is so gnar that you have to put it on everything, I am stoked just writing about it!
