Handkerchief Shoals Inn

Love the old fashion vibe of this place compared to a chain lodging experience. Reminds me of trips when I was a kid stopping at a roadside place while driving to Florida for Xmas. Can’t remember the last time a place was SO CLEAN. We used this place because it allowed a single night stay but i could see coming back for multiple nights

My boyfriend and I stayed here this past weekend and we were very happy with the hotel. The owners are super sweet and very knowledgeable with the surroundings. She gave us perfect recommendations for dining and entertainment. The hotel was very clean and roomy. They offered us a king right away even though we had booked a double. The location was perfect and in the middle of everything. For a nice long weekend that is reasonable this place was perfect!

This place sucks! It is dirty and the woman who owns it was very rude during check in. They have «pet friendly» rooms where you can’t have your dog out of a crate or leave it crated at all. Dog friendly, owner hostile. We were not told this until we had already paid.
In addition, the room was small and the beds old and creaky. Our sheets had yellowing stains on them. The door to the room was broken and didn’t fully shut. There were mouse feces in the shower.
I would NEVER recommend this place and have reported it to the board of health in the area. Skip it and save your money!

Stayed here for the Memorial Day weekend as my sister’s house was full to the brim and it’s literally a hop, skip and a jump away (or a squiffy stagger if you’ve been at the scotch).
The owners are very nice and helpful (they also let us check in early) and the cleaning crew were great — they totally respected our wrong-​time-​zone Do Not Disturb signs at all odd hours. The place is clean; our room had a mini fridge, microwave, lots of drawers, a TV and table and chairs (plus two chairs outside for hanging out), small hanging space and a small bathroom (need more shelves, please!) which needed updating (shower floor looked grimy but was just worn out stone), and lots of clean, fresh towels. The bed was a little old and I did feel it in my lower back after 4 nights. Still, I’m on vacation and not everyone is lucky enough to have a Tempurpedic at home!
Do wish they’d heat the pool for the holiday weekend — last time I stayed, they hadn’t even filled it up. I agree with others’ reviews about the noise — if you have people yakking outside your door at 7 AM (when your body says it’s 4 AM) it is kind of annoying, or the person who is dragging their cooler right outside your window, but eh, whatever, I couldn’t hear any traffic noise, which is surprising when you’re right on the 28. There’s free wi-​fi and lots of TV channels to make up for the minor inconveniences.
All-​in-​all, this place is a keeper!

Since on the Cape there are not a lot hotels, you’ll most likely stay at an Inn, Motor Lodge or B&B. We chose Handkerchief because of the reviews on Unilocal.We had fears, predicting the place would be poor. The Inn was actually pretty quiet, and the owners were very nice. The location was ideal, right on the elbow of the Cape. Morning breakfast was simple: cereal, bagels and juice. The room was nice, the bathroom was small. The only real drawback was the bed. It was hard, and my girlfriend and I prefer softer mattresses. You get what you pay for, and if you are on a budget, Handkerchief is a reasonable choice.

Bottom line here is Clean, and very… Rooms smallish but nice flat screen & comfortable mattress a plus. Easy on the wallet so if not planning to hang around the Motel all day this place is a Home run.

Stayed here this weekend because my boyfriend & I had a wedding in the area. I am a bit of a hotel snob and when my boyfriend used the word motel… I was a bit nervous. Upon arrival, we had an early check-​in (bonus!) spotlessly clean room, and there was a pool (it was cloudy but I was still pleasantly surprised to see one). You are able to park directly in front of your room, very convenient. The Handkerchief Shoals is in a great location off of 28. The bed was very comfortable and the price point was great. I would recommend staying here.

This was a great little place that is located in a more quiet area rather than the usual route 6 motels. They have a friendly staff and a pool. Plus they offer breakfast. We enjoyed the dog friendly aspect and recommend to other pet owners. They r centrally located for harwich and Brewster area.

What a nice little place they have here. One of the main perks of Handkerchief Shoals Inn is that they allow nightly rooms and don’t require you to book a trip for 2 or more days like most Cape Cod hotels.
Our room was spotlessly clean and very nice without being over the top. The beds were comfy and the linens provided were adequate for a good nights sleep. They provide a continental breakfast in the morning that consists of bagels, danishes, cereal and different juices. Unfortunately there was no fresh fruit. Oh and don’t worry about leaving Fido at home, they have dog friendly rooms.
One slight drawback is that it can be a bit noisy especially early in the morning. This is because the inn is set up more like a motor lodge so parking is directly in front of the room doors. We got woken up before 6:00 by some dude telling his buddy about the «huge fuggin fish» he was gonna catch that day. Perhaps, Handkerchief Shoals Inn is better suited to families that need to be up early to get the kids ready for a day at the beach, but overall our stay here was a good experience.
As far as rates are concerned this place is competitive with other Cape Cod hotels and won’t drain your bank account. I would consider staying at Handkerchief Shoals Inn for future Cape trips and would recommend them to friends.
