Strange experience with the hostess, but excellent food in a wonderful, historic inn. We will return for sure.

I want to like this place. It’s got a nice atmosphere and the staff couldn’t have better intentions, however that doesn’t make up for the poor quality of the food. The calamari was not crispy and drenched in a soy sauce that made it overly salty. Our party had a hard time eating it without accompanying each bite with the slaw it came with, which unfortunately, is not what I look for when I order calamari. I got the steak frites which was a big disappointment, despite being medium rare the outside of the steak was burnt and the inside was over tenderized, not making it an enjoyable piece of meat. All after our server explained that the«faux filet» was the ends of the tenderloin and therefore would be tender. Our server didn’t hesitate to try and make up for it but I tend to lose my appetite if I have to send something back. The bites I had of the sole a member of our party had were enjoyable, but the green beans were too salty to enjoy. Not really interested in going back.

Quite possibly the best meal I have had at a restaurant on the cape. I had never even heard of Mooncusser until we stumbled across it tonight, and I am so happy we did. For a Wednesday night, the parking lot was packed but we were Sat immediately with four people. The building looks like a remodeled old cape cod style house and the inside décor is homey, cozy and welcoming. It feels as though you are dining at a friends house. We tried a few cocktails off the martini list. The French martini was strong but slightly sweet and garnished with the juiciest, sweetest oranges I have ever had. The Brazilian chocolate martini was similar to a dessert martini but we loved the sweetness. The pear martini was also good but the first two were superior. Our server Tara knew the menu inside and out and gave amazing suggestions throughout the meal. She was far from overbearing but was always there when we needed her. She made our meal even more wonderful than it would have been without her. She was the perfect addition to a lovely night and we would certainly request her when we return. I suggest you do the same. From the tapas menu we tried the pork belly, steak and eggs and the beef carpaccio. The beef carpaccio preparation was refreshing and light served on a lovely french baguette with fresh shaved Parmesan and greens. My favorite of the 3 was the steak and eggs; tender steak cooked perfectly medium rare with a sunny side up egg and flavorful jasmine rice and a tasty sauce. It would even be great as a smaller sized entrée. The pork belly was uniquely prepared but we noticed the slab of pork belly itself overpowered the other portions of compliments and we wished we had a little more egg and french toast. The seafood parpardelle entrée was the winner piled high with perfectly cooked jumbo shrimp, scallops, and lobster for only $ 32. The light butter sauce was the perfect compliment. If you are hungry, try the wild boar shank which was extremely tender and served with the most amazing buttermilk mashed potatoes to ever grace the earth. The tuna and avocado burger was also quite good. I love trying interested combos and this didn’t disappoint. The tuna was fresh and the avocado was ripened perfectly. Burger was cooker perfectly in duck fat which made it so much more flavorful than the average burger. Desserts…we tried one of each offering; a vanilla bean crème Brulee and chocolate caramel bread pudding. They were both beyond amazing and maybe even the best part of the meal if that’s even possible to decipher. We loved the hint of lavender infused into the brulee and the amazing bread pudding texture hidden in the flavor of an amazing chocolate cake. All in all, I’m sure you can tell that our bill was quite hefty, but the meal was so satisfying and impressive that it was completely worth it. We will be back.

Great tapas, quaint, quiet, but festive. We had good service and enjoyed our servers suggestions. The setting was lively but not super loud. I appreciate this balance. We had a wonderful meal and will be back soon!

We were visiting the area for a wedding and were looking for an upscale yet casual restaurant with a good beer list on a Friday night in October. Mooncussers met our expectations. Food was very tasty with good sized but not huge portions. The presentation of the food was lacking a bit(main course elements sort of on top of each other, but maybe this is the style?). My game(elk) was really wonderful! Tender and rich. The duck was also quite good. Wine by the glass met our needs($ 8−11/glass) and they had about 7 tap beers, a number from Cape Cod. The server was pleasant but seemed a bit harried. One drink was forgotten and although we asked for some time between our starter and the main course, we barely had 5 minutes. Two beers, three wines, two starters, two mains were about $ 140(excluding tip). Don’t let my service comment stop you from visiting Mooncussers if you want a nice selection of starters and mains, and good beer and wine list.

The atmosphere is great and the food was amazing. We had the mussels tapas which was amazing. I had the seafood parpardelle. One of the best dishes I’ve had. Lori, our waitress actually recommended it. She was great! The owner, Patrick, even came by during the rush time, chatted with us and even poured us some wine. We will be back for sure.

Food was amazing! We were given a private area for a rehearsal dinner and everything was fabulous. The waitress was great and the service was quick for drink orders. Food came out at just the right time. Get the bread pudding :)

Best dining experience I have had during a summer spent mid-Cape. We’ve dined twice here in the last six weeks and both times were great. Nice atmosphere, excellent and friendly service and delicious food. Large gluten-free menu, including fries! The Parmesan truffle fries are great. I have also had a delicious halibut special and a tasty scallop risotto dish. The family loves the burgers and steak frites. The chef prepared a seasonal and excellent pasta dish for our vegan guest as well. We recommend and will be back to try the dessert and music scene!

Had a great experience here. Food was good. Gambas were awesome. Drambuie muscles were good but a little too sweet and tuna avocado tempura was very good. Our server was wonderful(Shania???) was worth the visit. She was not afraid to make recommendations and was funny and accommodating. Atmosphere is old tavern like and not so much«me» but would be for others. We were split on the quality of the drinks. Overall a good experience and would recommend.

Last month our son got married in Harwich, MA and since this would be a destination wedding we wanted to host a large reception the night before for over 100 out of town guests. We were challenged to find a nice venue that would book our event on a Friday night, featured outstanding food, and had a real«Cape Cod» ambience as well as the capacity to hold a large crowd. The answer was Mooncusser’s Tavern… as everything about our experience was excellent! Damien, Patrick and the entire staff were amazing. We settled on a delicious menu with cheese stations, pass around hors d oeuvres, and a fabulous buffet. Everyone had a great time and the Mooncusser’s staff were extremely attentive and helpful. It was a wonderful evening and the perfect setting for a magical weekend wedding. John F.

Food and cocktails were really good. We did oysters, calamari, drambuie mussels and truffle fries. All food was beyond expectations. Martinis were also really good. Try the Englishman and the Boston Arnold. I was only bummed that there was no outside seating. It was great to find a place on the cape with gourmet, non-fried seafood. Server was very friendly and attentive.

Gourmet burgers, gourmet tapas plates, all of it mouth watering delicious! It can be a wee bit pricey in comparison to other places in the area, which is the only reason I knocked it down a star, but I can honestly say that I felt it well worth the expenditure to have such an exquisitely prepared dinner that all members of our party thoroughly enjoyed.

Food was divine– we had the pork chop, the seafood pappardelle, the steak frite, and the crème brûlée– all perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of sauce. But more importantly was the service of the overall staff-we had met old friends and the restaurant was long closed– our bill paid and last drinks done– they were kind enough to extend us another round and didn’t rush us in any way– many thanks we will Be back

LOVEDIT! BEst place we ate all vacation. My only gripe is that all the Tapas came out at the same time so we had to rush through them before they got cold, and our $ 30 lobster martini DID get cold and tough, sadly. Otherwise it was deeeeeelicious. The cheese plate, steak and eggs and pork belly were awesome.

Uh, I’ll be the first to admit my mistakes and assuredly I thought walking in here this was a tourist high volume trap on The Cape. Well it may be high volume and a machine on table seating timing but the ambiance and food quality are truly impressive. French bread was incredibly compelling and eventually I had to force them to take it away for fear is not enjoy the meal. I think this is a romance spot or special occasion by the way the crowd dressed but from my view it was one of a few well done environments and good quality options in the area.
