Very solid. Good ribs. Small place. Very friendly.

The place had some promise walking in the front door, however it was not realized. Requests for fatty brisket were not granted as the guy behind the counter proceeded to slice directly grin the lean flat. Plus, it was almost like the guy trims off the bark after the brisket is pulled from the smoker as it looks kind of pink in the outside with non existent bark/flavor. Sausage was decent, but EXTREMELY over cooked and dry, a theme for most of the meats I sampled. Dry brisket, dry ribs, dry sausage and average hot links. The guy does have a nice potato salad though.

Lee’s Bar-b-que is a small«mom and pop» place locally owned. It’s off the beaten path just north of Fort Worth. We had the ribs and brisket with potato salad and Cole slaw. The brisket and sauce were both good. The ribs were ok, but a bit dry. I didn’t really care for the Cole slaw, but the potato salad was ok. I really went back and forth on whether to rate a 3 or four stars. What finally struck the deal was the poor service. There was one couple in front of me getting carry out. When I stepped up to order, the owner was a bit inattentive at first. When he did ask me for my order, seemed to be short and to the point. He did have a phone call right after the couple left which may have diverted his attention — but not really sure about that. A good reminder for him — always have service with a smile. It goes a LONG way.

If you want excellent Barbeque, this is the place in Haslet. Mr. Lee does a superb job and is a local treasure. I recommend trying the BBQ’d Bologna — its a trip.

Good bbq. The rich smell of hickory smoke. The desolate location. Fried sides cooked to order(best fried okra I can remember eating). The sauce is on the sweet side for my taste. I got the beef plate. If you’re near Haslet, Texas, definitely give it a try.

Can’t get pulled pork everywhere in Texas and this has a great flavor. Potato salad is awesome. Just don’t be expecting it your way. It ain’t Burger King.

Ordered a 1 ½ lb ribs at $ 15.00 a lb. ordered a ½ lb sausage at $ 7.95 a pound. So pissed when he weighed it all in one box at the rib rate… um no. Then he gave me some excuse. Because is this crap… he lost my business. You don’t rip off people dude… bottom line.

I really wanted to like this place. I generally love dives, and this definitely fits the bill. The atmosphere is old and worn — complete with an old school television, red-checkered oilskin tablecloths, and a folksy feel to the well-used tables and chairs. A closer inspection reveals it has seen better days, and I wondered how dirty things really were. It’s okay, you get that in a dive. But you hope the kitchen is clean — a little hard to tell when it was last thoroughly cleaned. I arrived around 11:40a on a Friday, and could not even tell if the place was open. There was a couple of trucks in the gravel driveway, and I walked in and saw a UPS driver looking at the slotted-menu board. Eventually, the owner, Lee, came up front from somewhere in the back, and asked what he’d like to order. He ordered a couple of chopped beef sandwiches and sat down to wait. I continued to look at the menu, and anticipated Lee taking my order. The owner is super friendly and comes across as a hard working man. He was slowly, methodically, slowly, methodically, slowly, methodically, setting things up for the day — slowly, methodically, slowly, methodically, bringing old-school, metal cafeteria containers up to a glass-fronted display. It looked like the side items on display may have been a few days old and was simply being reheated in the display, so I was a little skeptical. After taking about 10 minutes to put together the UPS guy’s order, and to continue to slowly, methodically, set things up, Lee finally took my order. I ordered the brisket with a side of beans and corn. Lee took out a nice-looking smoked brisket, though it was difficult to tell how fresh. I could tell the brisket was really dry, but had a nice smoke ring, and I was disappointed it was not dripping with fat and the requisite juices I expected to see and taste. I’m guessing it was yesterday’s leftovers, re-hydrated only by the sauce Lee dolloped on top. Like many of the other non-4-star reviews, my side items were cold. The beans were flavorful, but I mean they were flat out cold — not even remotely warm. Because Lee was setting things up when I arrived, I can only guess they were recently removed from the refrigerator and placed in the display to get warm. That was not true of the corn — he took that off the burner behind him, and slowly, methodically placed each 1⁄3 of an ear into the steaming metal container. Unfortunately, the corn was way overcooked, and thus was rather chewy, instead of fresh. The food was edible, but rather disappointing. Fortunately, the sauce was a nice mix of sweet and spicy, but a little too watered down and runny for my taste… and Lee seemed super nice. But wow, I expected so much more. I have only been here once, based on all the four-star ratings. However, I can only surmise that those ratings come from those who received freshly-cooked sides and freshly-smoked BBQ. Unfortunately, I’ll have to give Lee’s two stars, only because Lee was too friendly to offer up a one-star. But, Lee — you have to do better with the speed of the service and freshness of the food to get me to ever return. For me, the offerings before me looked and tasted like yesterday’s food, in the process of reheating. Perhaps someone in my office can talk me into returning; but they’re going to have to be in the know in terms of when the food is actually fresh. Consequently, for now, I’ll look for other options.

Looking for some great BBQ before heading home to California, I found Lee’s on Unilocal.Brought my Texas born & raised daughter in law, son &3 grandkids for dinner. Fantastic Brisket, potato salad, Texas toast!!! The sweet potato pie is to die for! The peach cobbler just as delectable! My grandson who is the pickiest eater on the planet chowed down on the chicken & bread then insisted on drinking the BBQ sauce that was left over. We asked for a sample of the beans when paying & Lee asked which ones, ranch or baked. He generously put a spoonful of each in a bowl for daughter in law & I to try. Oh myyyy!!! Both were amazing! This place is what I like to call a joint!!! Great food, mom & pop, nothing flashy but comfy for families & delicious!!! Please go enjoy his food, because I can’t have it again til I’m back in Texas!!!

I have been wanting to try this place for the longest time! Now that I have I won’t ever stop! My husband and I each got the 3 meat plate. The sausage and ribs were to die for. I have had better brisket at some of the high priced, popular bbq places but this was by no means mediocre. The sauce was my favorite I have had. I got cabbage and baked beans, my husband got potato salad. All three were great but I must say that potato salad was stellar! For those that said in their reviews Mr. Lee was rude I have no idea who they were talking about. This is a one man show and the food is out this world. Kudos to the best Texas bbq around!

This place is amazing! Delicious food, great portions. Don’t let how small the place is deter or fool you, it’s great! My husband and I just arrived in Texas from Massachusetts, and we wanted to find some local food to get a taste of the area. We found the reviews of this place that said«hole in the wall» and we knew it was the place for us! The food was delicious, the owner Lee was friendly and really knew his stuff. Our favorite thing he said was when we asked«What’s good, what do you eat for your lunch?» He answered with a smile«Everything’s good, I’ve been making it myself for 28 years. I eat everything, wouldn’t be here if I didn’t». :) We’re very glad we found this place.

This place is epic! It’s great food and great local atmosphere! It’s a one man show and I’ll admit, the guy behind the counter could be a littler warmer but it’s probably because he’s more focused on delivering a superior product than saying hello! I’m so glad I found this place!

If I could give this restaurant less than 1 star, I would. I stopped for a chopped beef sandwich today and it was disgusting. The meat wasn’t even warm, it was room temperate. The chopped brisket was mostly chunks of fat. I’ve honestly never had such bad food in my life and we eat out quite often. I’m assuming the man running the register was the owner, he never once smiled. I even thanked him and he didn’t even acknowledge me speaking to him. He also didn’t wear gloves when touching the food. I never witnessed him washing his hands either. The entire restaurant was filthy.

I’ve been here for 10 years in Haslet and thought this place wasn’t open or good until I went in. OMG!!! THEFOODISAMAZING! Lee the owner is the one that is serving and making the food. It’s such a raw and authentic experience! The beef is smoked with wood, you can taste and the nutmeg from the fresh sweet potato pie is soooo good!

We got ribs and brisket from here and wondered why we hadn’t come sooner. The food was delicious and the smell was amazing. The owner was really nice and there were plenty of places to sit. Everything there, he made himself and it all looked delicious. The prices were very reasonable. I’d recommend this place to anyone.

If you’re looking for some wonderful Texas BBQ in a hole in a wall, this is it! He’s been here for 26 years! My brother recently moved to Haslet, so we tried it for the first time. EVERYTHING was good & it was busy at 4:30p on a Saturday. They have daily specials & my husband had that. All were good: –Chopped beef sandwich –sweet potato pie(OHMYGOD, the nutmeg!) –peach cobbler –sausage All were delicious!

The Real Deal Texas BBQ! What can I say, across from the Haslet City Hall, next to he railroad tracks. You couldn’t pick a better place for a standalone BBQ shack than Lee’s Hickory Smoked BBQ. When I arrived, Lee was taking some hickory and putting into the smoker. I ordered the brisket and pork. Both were moist and tender and full of flavor. You have to get the cole slaw, fantastic. I also had corn on the cob. The platter is served with a nice slice of buttered Texas toast. This place is right out of a movie and the BBQ is among the best I’ve ever had. Loved it and you will too!

Do you want classic Texan barbecue? Because if you come here that is exactly what you are getting. At first glance this place may seem small and kind of, well, country. You know, small building, small expectations? But first taste? That is an entirely different experience. Do you want authentic Southern barbecue? Then come here. The meat is succulent and the sauce is amazingly tasty. You can’t find a better BBQ place in the area. Honestly. If you want to argue with me then you have to try it first.

My family and I had our first taste of Texas BBQ here at Lee’s. Happy to say that the food lived up to the hype. The sausage is delicious and the casing has a wonderful snap to it. I had my first fried bologna sandwich and it was tasty! I recommend the potato salad and French fries because they really made the meal. Lee was super cool, loved his BBQ!
