The paninis and pastries here are fine. Can’t speak to the coffee because I very rarely drink it, but the Chai tea is as good as elsewhere in town. The atmosphere is a little cooler at a couple of other spots, but Java Werks has more comfy seating options. This feature is important to me when I have several hours of work to do. The owners are also personable and accommodating, another plus. Try it, either with some friends or your laptop and some work!

So yummy! We just recently tried the food and will definitely be back. The owner is super nice and their gumbo is fabulous!

This was a delightful find on our way home. We wanted a stop for good coffee and something healthy(preferably locally owned) to eat. Unilocal found us this and we we’re definitely not disappointed! My boyfriend prefers tea and ended up getting 2 kinds just to try(they sounded amazing) and I loved the coffee. They offer dairy alternatives, a big plus for me because I can’t have milk, and amazing arepas. If you don’t know what they are they are South American comfort food. The owner perfected his recipe to share with his customers and told us it’s just like what they eat at home. Another thing: THEYSERVEBEER. Too bad we were traveling in the middle of the day and had somewhere we had to be that evening. Other gems: amazing healthy options including a breakfast smoothie, great variety for a quick meal and/or drink, comfortable seating and plenty of it, board games, tables as well as couches, and they were accepting donated gifts for a local nursing home. This was located close to the college not far off the highway. Definitely worth the stop. We look forward to coming here again.

Delicious arepa! A bit pricey but whatever, it’s great quality and I’d definitely get it again! The gumbo was yummy too :) nice comfy atmosphere with lots of space.

Stopped by here Saturday night for a comedy improv show. The group, Hardy Action Theater, was quite good, but this is about the coffee joint. So what do you say about a coffee joint? Coffee was good, desserts were good, pleasant atmosphere, nice place to hang out, there ya go. Done.

Worst place ever. It is over priced and the food is mediocre at best. I ordered a combo half sandwich and soup. The sandwich was extremely small and had one piece of meat and barely any lettuce on it. The worst place I’ve ever been to that serves soup and sandwiches. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

While visiting with my parents for a week, I needed to find a place to camp out and work for a few hours. I’m not a huge fan of large chain coffee places(*cough*Starbucks*cough*), so I decided to come camp out at Java Werks. Staff is very friendly and accommodating — the owner asked me if I wanted the music to be turned down due to being on a phone call. The coffee is tasty too. And with it being directly across from Southern Miss, this is a prime spot for those study sessions. And with plenty of plugs available, this is a remote worker’s dream spot.

I don’t like buying at chain coffee shops. Starbucks quality is horrible(burnt and chalky). I moved here from Jackson and always supported local businesses and found this gem. Cesar and his wife are the sweetest and nicest couple who owns the place. It was my first time here and he was very personable and welcoming. I got the caramel frappé and the turkey pesto panini and it was amazing. Quality was freshly made and they always take their time to make sure it’s what you wanted. Will be coming back. If you’re looking for a warm atmosphere with a family owned business environment and great quality food and coffee– then this is definitely the place!

We stop in here every time we’re in Hattiesburg. I love the friendly staff and wonderful drink selection. I’m there so often they always know what I order and always know when to recommend something new. It’s like dining with family every time I stop in.

I love this place. The coffee is great — I usually get the house dark blend and drink it black, but I’ve also had the frozen coffees and they are delicious. ~$ 2.50 for a 24oz coffee. I finally tried the gluten free arepas and can’t believe what I’ve been missing out on. It’s loaded with chicken, tomatoes, lettuce, avocado, cheese… mmmm. I’m in love. ~$ 8 for the arepa and it fills you up. This is my new favorite place…

I tried coming here a few times with my friends to study, but it’s really difficult because the internet isn’t reliable. When you purchase something, you have to ask for a printed passcode. The login window to type your passcode does not pop up half the time, so I occasionally have to restart my computer. After two hours are up, it kicks me off the webpage and I have to repeat the above steps. I love supporting local businesses, but the food here is just too expensive to keep purchasing every two hours. Also, when I’m on a deadline I don’t have the patience to deal with shabby internet connection. This is a great place to go if you are just gathering with friends and do not need internet!

Great place great coffee great wifi. Our group has a meeting there once a month we used to do this at T Bone records but it’s just too loud. The owner always make sure their tables set up for us before we get there and he sets up a tab for us so we can just pay at the end of the meeting.

We found this spot on Unilocal as we traveled through Mississippi on our way to Texas. Too bad this place isn’t closer to home. We would absolutely be regulars. The food was delicious and the owner was charming. I would love to explore the menu futther.

Every time I move to a new town, I try to find a local café with an artistic ambiance that’s involved in the community and has great food. It’s a tall order, but Java Werks fits the bill. My writers group hosts all our events there, and I like going to the other events there as well. The owner is very friendly. It’s a great place to write and meet other local artists.

Love this place! One of the few good coffee places for studying in Hattiesburg(the depot and T-bones being a couple others). The staff is very friendly, and the coffee is great. The wifi is password protected which can get annoying with a full day of studying(you have to ask for a new code every 2 hours), but overall great place. PLEASE do not go to starbucks when you can support a local, family owned business less than a mile away :)

The mocha I ordered was pretty good, though I am not a fan of powdered chocolate. We also ordered a croissant which was really fresh and flavorful.

This was my first visit, and I was very impressed! The staff was very friendly and helpful, and there was a large selection of various drinks, snacks, sandwiches, and coffee. Try the Hollywood Blondie! Very yummy!
