The zoo has some new animals. A pair of Golden Eagles, a flock of flamingos(my daughter’s favorite), a pair of cute little sloths, and probably more. My favorite is still the giant tortoise. He just looks so chill. They put the peacock food in the yard with the giant tortoise, so you’ll also see the peacock displaying for the females while they eat. There’s also a great new playground area at the back of the zoo by the flamingos(no extra charge). And of course there’s still the splash pad(no extra charge), train($ 2), and carousel($ 2). The zoo is still as clean and inviting as ever. The animals are still happy. Not too crowded. People are friendly and laid back, and for this reason I would choose the Hattiesburg Zoo over the New Orleans Zoo even if I had to drive a couple hours to get to it.

Good zoo for a short trip. About 2 hours and you’ve seen everything. Clean, and family friendly. The train is always a good ride with the kids. I just wish they allowed fishing. there’s some of the biggest bream I’ve ever seen there. The animals are well taken care of.

For a city the size of Hattiesburg, this place is really nice. Every time I’ve been it’s always been very clean and all the exhibits are well marked. There is a decent variety of exhibits to enjoy. It’s a great place to take a family to spend an afternoon. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable I would recommend anyone to give it a shot!

This zoo is very small, however, it is well kept. There is not a lot of people so you can take as many pics as you would like. The price is inexpensive so you could take the whole family.

Yes, this is a small zoo, but it is better kept and maintained than several larger zoos I have been to. I have been traveling to and through Hattiesburg for over 15 years and never been to this zoo, just decided to take the time on this trip to get out and stretch and SO glad we did. Was perfect for the time we had and my whole family was impressed with how nice it was. The train was convenient to get a quick look around — not too loud at all as others have posted. We saw several staff members around many of the exhibits and all were extremely helpful and informative. We were also surprised that most all of the animals were extremely active and friendly. From the prairie dogs and tigers to the goat petting and fish feeding. Overall a great experience. We look forward to going back and see how much it grows with the years to come.

If we didn’t know where to look, I don’t think we would have found this place! It’s well hidden behind a park and playgrounds. Took us about an hour to take the train ride and see the whole zoo. The train was loud, and hurt my ears — I joined the family in front of me in covering my ears whenever the conductor pulled the horn. It was ear-splitting, and we were on the very last seat on the train. I was disappointed that there weren’t any elephants, and that many of the animals are in very, very small enclosures. The staff here were friendly, but I don’t think we’ll be coming back.

You get what you pay for. It’s not expensive because there’s not much to see. Budget an hour to see the whole«zoo».
