Food was ok. I wouldn’t say it’s amazing but it’s decent. The jerk chicken was the best I’d say. A little dry but it’s ok. But the Mac and cheese was disgusting.

An awesome hole-in-the-wall type local restaurant with some awesome Caribbean food, personal favorite is the curry chicken with rasta pasta, you won’t waste your money here

I love that the food options are becoming more diverse within Havelock. The food at JJS is wonderful to say the very least. As a brand new business I think they’re trying their best and succeeding at making customers happy, while simultaneously helping them explore new or nostalgic spices and flavors. You can tell they take their time to make it with love. I would call this home-cooked food, not typical fast-food.

It is good food for decent price. I usually order the ox tail. The Jamaican drinks are tasty too and add to the experience. The pasta and cabbage were very well made as well.

Can’t rate it because it was not open at 2:30 on a Saturday, so I just picked 2. According to the door they don’t open until 3 pm on Saturdays. Disappointing.

Good food, good portions. Limited to three pre made selections. Don’t plan on dining in unless you are the only one there. Only one table… oh yeah, don’t mind the two creepy guys hanging out front. I’m sure they are legit.

I have eaten at Joy’s jerk Shack twice now and the food is amazing! I would recommend this to anybody in the area for delicious jerk chicken or curry chicken. There was so much food I could not eat it all and the price was really good at 7.95 for medium and 9.95 for large if i remember correctly. I got the medium. It is close to Cherry Point Marine base and I would recommend this is a perfect place to go get lunch because they do not take long to make the food and you can eat it there or get it to go. I was only in town to work at the Marine base for a little while so I am really going to miss the food at Joy’s jerk shack. Give it a try you will not be disappointed. They have been in business for a year now and they do a great job!

Not many seats, I think they opened recently. But the price is fair and the staff is friendly. I used a gift cert from , you get $ 25 for $ 10 with a $ 50 minimum purchase, but they didn’t press the minimum. The ox tail is tender and fatty, just the way I like my meat. A big side of rice and beans, fluffy, tasty, and the cabbage is good, not too greasy, with a bit of pepper to it. Or is that paprika? My cuz had the jerked chicken. Really good stuff and the homemade hot sauce if you ask for it is delish. Try the Jamaican ginger beef while you’re at it. Perfect for a lunch break especially if your workplace needs some flatulent fragrance. Two guys left full for less than $ 25. Can’t go wrong with that

Wow what a gem. Would have never thought to find such good food in this strip mall town. The food is authentic and healthy. The owners are nice and put a great deal of of pride and care in preparing their food. The portions are huge and the price moderate. After eating here all I needed was water the rest of the day. Please support this little gem.

Love the music/vibe but love the food more. The jerk chicken patty was good. But the Oxtail was right on point.

The jerk chicken is on point! I’ve had it as a meal, in a salad, and in a patty — all were outstanding. Heard nothing but compliments from friends who tried other dishes. Hit em up!!!

Ox tail is great with red beans and rice. Great possibility for this small take out restaurant. Would like to try the curried goat.

Good simple small menu which was good being a new food experience made my decision easy. I got the ox tail with rice and peas and steamed cabbage. The ox tail was very tender and delicious. Rice and peas as it was on the menu was pretty much red beans and rice. It was seasoned really well but… there were many hard peices of rice in it. I was actually able to pick the many clear unkooked rice grains out visually. Steamed cabbage was great but it seemed to have been drizzled in oil. Was much more the consistency and taste of sauté’d cabbage. Seating while waiting for food was a bit rickety. Looking forward to seeing what they put in the empty display case by the register in the future. The restrooms were not clean. Dispite these discrepencies this is a place that I will return too for thier unique flavors and good service. Next time I will get plantains instead of rice.
