CRIMINALS. As of March 2015, the investigation from the raid has escalated.
I live in a complex managed by Shawmut. Rumor has it the IRS has seized all the assets and they are robbing the condo associations to bail themselves out. Careful who you hire to manage your property, Shawmut pulls NO permits and hires from a temp agency. If you have had work done that required a Permit, such as any Plumbing, Electrical, any doors, windows, basic construction… IT REQUIRES A PERMIT… Good luck selling your condo with the proper permits on file.

ZERO STARS. Worst company i have ever encountered. They do NOTHING to help the condo owners/​association they manage. worst customer service in history. Borderline slumlords. Do not buy a condo that they manage or work with them under any circumstances.

This is an easy review. Shawmut Management is awful in most every way. My condo association fired them and has a law suit against them.

Shawmut Property managed my condominium in 2010. We found their client relations to be very poor and the Trustees’ relationship with them was not a successful one. We terminated before the year was up.

If I could give 0 stars I would. We also received threats of a lawsuit after posting on angieslist telling our local area that they left our small Condo Association in the red to a tune of $ 37 000.00 and when asked for accounting records we were denied. Anytime a major problem would happen, it happened on a weekend for double time and they would send 7 – 10 «contractors» on Sat & Sun, done by Monday and since they’ve been gone we haven’t had a problem. Shady is an understatement, Bullies are best way to describe them, as well as Thieves. We were a condo complex in disrepair w/​dysfunctional Boards and owners w/​a lynch mob mentality who entrusted a professional company to right the ship… only thing is they sunk us even deeper. They preyed on us, sunk in their teeth and left us for dead when we called them out. They knew we didn’t have the money to sue because they took every last dime. Glad to see they were raided and very curious to find out what for…

I cannot express how extremely frustrated I am with Shawmut Property Management! They have taken over our condo management recently and I have tried numerous times to solve an issue of a small amount of money. I have always paid every bill I have received. There is a small discrepancy against me. I asked for the specific unpaid bill or charge and was given charges that I have actually paid. There are allegations that bills were not paid in full. When I proved that I had paid the bills, I was sent to collections. Every bill was paid in full. I wrote a letter to the president of the company and got no response. Now they have put me in collections with fees about equalling what I supposedly owe. I have never refused to pay. I feel like I am being completely taken advantage of. It is certainly not enough money to hire a lawyer to fight for me. They have caused me a lot of aggravation!

Shawmut failed to appear for numerous meetings with our board, has refused to explain repeated writing of checks to themselves above the threshold they agreed to in our contract. Then the ‘President’ of this chop-​shop threatened to sue in response to a BBB filing seeking nothing more than these same answers.
They operate on threats of lawsuits. I STRONGLY recommend not giving these clowns access to your checkbook. We unanimously voted to not renew their contract, and began engaging for an audit of the ‘books’ they kept, after which they pre-​emptively decided to terminate their contract with us. What timing.
Please, for the sake of your property value and your time as a trustee/​board member of an association, consider any of the large number of professional, intelligently managed services out there.

We’ve had an ok, just ok experience with them in our place in NH.
I can’t say they’re any worse than the last condo mgt company we had. I think the name of that one was Kardiff. I can’t say Shawmut is much better, though.
It just seems like condo associations seem to think that they have a blank check to spend your money like a bunch of drunken sailors.
I think some of the blame lies with the people on the board, though, too. We think we elect the right people, but they grab the money and spend, spend, spend.
