Went there New Years Eve. I understand the menu is usually limited and prices higher but our meals were horrible. Seafood medley had hardly no seafood. The polente had no taste. The waiter was great.

Wonderful restaurant! I am a big fan of their chicken and shrimp entrée as well as the chicken parm. My favorite part about dining at Café D’Angelo is the handsome waiter, Mike. He is very polite and attentive.

Disappointing night. We were so happy to bring our son for dinner as our previous two visits were wonderful. One waitress .very pleasant but could have used help! My steak was tough with gristle running through it. I tried to eat it but ended up returning the whole steak as I was unable to eat any of it. When we received our bill the steak was still on it. My husband did not want to complain any further and paid the bill however we will unfortunately think twice before returning…

This is probably our 8th visit to Café Dangelo and once again it was amazing. The place is beautifully decorated for Christmas and really makes you feel like home from the moment you walk in the door. The service here is superb and the food is even better. this is probably the best byob in havertown. Do your self a favor and try them out.

This was our 2nd visit. The service was good and our dinners, once again were wonderful. Last time he got the strip steak. Perfection. This time a pork chop special w/plum reduction and poached pear. Thick, tender and delicious. I had to do a repeat of the lobster ravioli. One of my fav dishes and very hard to find it make a wonderful as this. Most restaurants buy frozen with lobster pâté. I’m Not sure if they buy it or make it. But they’re high and stuffed with chopped lobster. The sauce was pink & cheesy, thick yet lite. Cherry tomatoes and asparagus added to the dish. I loved it again … Alms it forgot to mention the summer farmer salad we started with. Spring mix with sliced strawberries and candied nuts in a light balsamic dressing. Large enough to share. I think the only negative is a very limited menu. We will be going back.

My wife and I had a very good dinner here last evening. Excellent service by Linsey and enjoyed speaking with owner/chef Nicole. The shrimp and mussels with linguini in white cream sauce, which we both ordered, could not have been better! We will be back soon. Joe Bodell

Lobster Ravioli is definitely out of a box stored below 32 degrees. I think they stole the silverware from some sort of institution. My fork was unusually flat and thin. Then menu is small, but the print is even smaller. Seriously, I think it is 8pt font. My wife ordered a steak that came with a wedge salad. Oddly, the wedge was served on the same plate sitting in a puddle of steak juice. Who does that? The Caprese Salad is also very odd. There was some fresh out of the grocers dairy section mozzarella with a variety of cherry and garden tomatoes. It was lame sprinkled with some Parmesan. Lame! The service is good if you like being disturbed every 1 – 2 minutes. That is not an exaggeration. Our server and the hostess were at our table every two minutes asking us about our experience. It made us very uncomfortable. Our waitress was very lacking in knowledge about food I general. She could only describe the salmon cakes on the menu as,“not fishy” she did not understand our question in regards to filler. She is a sweet girl, but I do not think waitress is where she would be placed in a vocational aptitude test. I want to give this place more stars for those fore mentioned reasons, I cannot justify it. This place is just very weird.

I went in with my wife and son and as soon as we entered I could tell the AC was not working. Our waiter brought out menus and opened our bottle of wine. He handed us menus and told us about the specials. I noticed the calamari had, among other things, hard boiled egg in it. Not being a fan, I requested that they leave the egg out. I got the sicilian rib eye for an entrée. I asked for medium rare. My son ordered the crab cake. The calamari, all 17 pieces, came out WITH the egg! My steak was cooked silly! My son’s crab cake was also small. The food itself, was pretty good but the portions were tiny and not cooked to our liking. More attention to detail and bigger portions would keep this place afloat. Unfortunately they won’t be around long if they don’t listen to the customer and make their dining room a more comfortable experience. My wife brought up a very good point, given the fact they had under 10 customers in the restaurant, you would think that the chef would be able to cook each customer’s dinner properly!

Stay away. The grilled calamari was not grilled. It was over cooked(pan sautéd?) tough. The«Lump Crabmeat» crab cake at $ 24 was certainly not lump crabmeat and I doubt that it was fresh. Havertown needs a good restaurant addition. This is not it.

Little BYOB in Havertown. I had a couple of gift cards from , so figured we would try them out, Went on 2 occasions and definitely were not wowed with the food here at all. The red sauce(gravy) here is also missing something, I guess I am spoiled by my Italian mother’s cooking. The menu is very limited. With other Italian BYOB’s in the neighborhood this place needs to step up their game. I have sampled their Chicken & Veal Parmesan and just had flat out better of both entrée’s elsewhere and would pick those restaurants in a heartbeat over Café D’Angelo. But hey that is my opinion and if you value it, you will dine elsewhere. I will say the establishment is very clean and the wait staff is very attentive,

I’m somewhere between 3 and 4 stars but leaning towards 3 so that’s where I went. We were a group of 6 at this small, casual BYOB in Havertown. They started by bringing us some roasted red peppers, bread and olive oil. The bread wasn’t my favorite but I really loved those peppers. Nice start. The waitress came over and listed the specials and wow, there were a lot! We decided to start with the special goat cheese flatbread, calamari and the special stuff artichoke hearts. All of these were good. Nothing was incredible but all tasty. I then decided to go with an old standby… lobster ravioli. The sauce was really yummy and so were the raviolis. Was it the best I’ve ever had? No. Was it good, yes. I guess that’s how I felt about the whole meal. It was good. Nothing was crazy good or outstanding but I would absolutely go back next time I’m out in the burbs with friends!

Good not great. Cheap silverware, dirty wine glasses. Food was ok but for the price it’s perpetrating as something it’s not. $ 24 for a few shrimp and one large crab cake. I believe these suburban restaurants think they can survive charging city prices with sub par food. Not even sure it was fresh?! Don’t think I’ll be back.

Very cute inside and the peppers and bread were very good but the menu is not that creative and our pasta courses were something we could have thrown together at home or defrosted from a bag. This would be a good place for people looking for a BYOB who are not real foodies and are okay with mediocre Italian food.

Our party of four had an excellent meal at Café D’Angelo last week. Our meals were prepared to perfection and brought to the table in a timely fashion The waitstaff was knowledgeable and friendly. Our server, Nicole, was attentive but not overbearing. When we inquired mid meal, about pumpkin ravioli she promptly delivered samples to our table(delicious) All in all Café DeAngelo was a great experience and will definitely stay on our list of great places to eat in Delaware County

Café D’Angelo feels like a reality T.V. restaurant before Gordon Ramsey fixes it –right down to the Philips head screws holding down the laminate wood floor. I almost want to recommend this place, just so you can experience the Chef’s bizarre take on Italian food and food in general. We ordered the caprese salad(one of the specials that night) and I think he fried it and put red sauce on it — it was so bad it was surreal, that’s why I’m having trouble remembering. Then my salmon(another special) came out. With this beautiful fish, the Chef must have seared it on the surface of the Sun and then just plopped it on the plate. It’s like he was angry that people like seared salmon. Needless to say, this thick shield of char guarded any flaking with my fork. Moving on to social etiquette: Upon sitting down and telling the waitress we were waiting for our son and his girlfriend, she shrieked, «You look way too young to have a teenager!» — which rippled through the entire restaurant and most of Havertown. Great start waitress! Then she opened our wine, but did not pour it. I still tipped 20% because that’s how I roll, but we wont be back.

We greatly anticipated our first visit since Havertown could really use more places like Edgewood and any new BYO is an exciting proposition. Two visits so far, and will probably try one more time after they get a few more weeks under their belts. The food has been uneven. On one visit, Mrs J ordered the veal limoncello — which came out without the sauce/dressing. I had the salmon and grainy mustard sauce. Salmon was a skimpy tail portion and overcooked, but sauce was great. So good in fact, I added it to my repertoire at home. Bread was probably a day old. Calamari was just ok. Chicken parm a was massive and acceptable rendition — exactly what you expect when you order chicken parm. No dish was not good, and none were really great. I can’t quite figure out the menu. I expected Italian and there were a number of the usual players appearing — asiago, prosciutto, figs, caprese salad,. At the same time, it was not really very Italian. Prices are about $ 4/dish higher than I would consider reasonable — the normal BYO tax. Room is loud like the reviews say, but pleasantly uncrowded, nicely lit and cute. Service was really friendly, but clearly inexperienced and not altogether familiar with the menu quite yet. The outside door opening directly to the dining room will be tough once old man winter sits down on Eagle Road.

We visited Café D’Angelo a few weeks after they opened their doors. I was really excited to learn that a new BYOB had moved into town. With Kaya’s and Edgewood Café in the area, I was looking forward to having a third place to frequent. I think Café D’Angelo has a lot of potential. Their food is good, but they fall short of the mark in other areas. When our party of four arrived, the place was dead. We asked to sit in the corner, away from the other tables, but the hostess seemed confused by the request. Finally, and after talking to someone else, they showed us to our table(the one we had initially requested). I didn’t see what the big deal was. Why not just honor the request? Then, when we asked our server questions about the menu, she was very unfamiliar with the details of what went into the food. She didn’t know what a gluten-free meal was and couldn’t tell us the ingredients of what went into the appetizers and entrees. So our friend had to stick with a salad and what he could guess was gluten-free. Shouldn’t a server know their menu? The place feels cold. It’s lacking ambiance. Maybe dim the lights a bit, turn on some music in the background, some window treatments… something. These aren’t things that can’t be easily remedied. Perhaps they are going for the whole«family restaurant» thing, but I don’t think so given their prices and their dinner options. Again, lots of potential, but for now, I’ll opt to spend my date nights at the other two BYOB places. Let’s get it together!

There is a new fine-dining BYOB in Havertown and the lovely wife and I stopped in last night for a late dinner. This was night three for them and first impressions look promising. These folks are directly across from the Oakmont Pub. Save yourself some hassle and park cheap in the Oakmont parking lot around the corner on Darby road. The first thing you notice when you enter is the beautiful hardwood floor. There is a brick accent wall and other than that the décor is spare but not unpleasantly so. This is a small space with about ten tables. The spacing is decent. Overall the wife and I found the atmosphere inviting. Our waitress was Courtney who turned out to be one of the four owners of this family run establishment. Throughout the evening we were«touched» by a couple of other staff as plates were cleared, water filled etc. Service was just fine with no complaints. As we perused the menu we were served good warm bread with a dish of EVOO and another of roasted peppers. The peppers need some work. They had some breading on them which is odd as most folks eat them with the bread that accompanied them. They would have been much better without the breading and with a little char. The menu is small with six appetizers($ 8-$ 12), three salads($ 8-$ 10), and eight entrees($ 16-$ 24). As a BYOB and at this price point, savvy diners will compare them to Kayas and Edgewood Café. These are both excellent restaurants so the completion should be interesting. The wife choose DAYBOATSCALLOPS($ 24) for her entrée. It was served over lentil salad with pickled red onion and a sherry emulsion. It was plated beautifully with three nice-sized scallops. She awarded her dish four stars but commented that the sherry emulsion did not add much to the overall taste. I choose CHICKENPENNE($ 16) with sundried tomato, artichoke and roasted mushrooms in a white wine garlic sauce. It was just fine and the portion was quite large. Just a note that they have a Facebook page up but no web page yet. They need to fix that quickly as they need a larger web presence to compete. As supporters of all things Havertown it’s certain that we will return. As they work out the kinks and mature, we are looking forward to great things!
