WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT! This store has great repetition in the community for being a consistent bakery with quality goods. Last Thanksgiving, I bought a pumpkin pie to serve my quest for this dinner. It was so bad I was ashamed that I served my quest this pie. I did not taste it before; because I have bought other goods in past years were excellent. The pie tasted of pumpkin and that is a good thing and not overly sweet. However, no taste of any spices you can custom to taste with pumpkin pie and further did not taste creamy, the taste had pronounced watery taste. The pie crust was excellent, but that is it in good taste. Now think back a few weeks ago, I bought a pastry that was supposed to be fresh and made the day before. Then few later I bought same pastry and it’s had a much better taste of being fresh and it was most likely made that day or truly day before. So you cannot trust the counter staff. This should be a warm sign to me and I did not take notice. Other warms sign I should note that cakes move well and I have taken notice of cakes in the frig; however, all other good quantities in display never change before a holiday or after the holiday. In closing for the high price charge $$$$ by this shop; I expect fresh and high quality goods and recently I did not get neither. I think the owners do not care anymore and that is really shame, considering I have tasted their very best and now I sold this substandard goods.

I bought a basic, vanilla cake for my birthday, right out of their display, and it was one of the best cakes I’ve ever tasted. This place rocks!

Very good Italian pastries… not superlative. A few things cross over into excellent, but again, most are very good. Quality or not, prices are pretty high for what you get. Pine-nut cookies at $ 23 a pound? Traditional Italian cookies at close to the same? Really? Only Termini’s is higher. The people who consider anything made there«the best ever» have obviously never been to many Italian bakeries. Good basic place and convenient, but not in the same league as most South Philly places.

Maybe I am not being fair but when I think of bakeries I use Termini’s Bros. as my measuring stick. Although the same initials are shared, TB, Testa’s is not Termini’s. But they do get their marks for being convenient, friendly, and reasonably priced. I have had their cakes, cannoli’s and cookies(not all at the same time) and all are fair. An easy to get to location with ample and convenient parking options. The kids that often work the counter are always cheery and eager to assist. Bring cash though as plastic is not an acceptable form of payment at Testa’s. When you need some baked goods and can’t make that trip into the city you have Testa’s. Nothing wrong with that.

Old school bakery. I think the bakery could use a fresh coat of paint to make it a bit more lively. I only got one of the baked goods which was an Apple turnover .The apple turnover was really good.

Excellent little old school bakery. Maybe the best coffee cake(aka crumble cake) I’ve ever had… well worth the $ 6(served at least 6 people).

Recently ordered tiramasu and German chocolate cakes for a party — both were gorgeous and got fantastic reviews from our guests. Highly recommended.

This is a rare find! A mom and pop bakery that has cannoli! I stopped by there in search of this italian baked good and found cookies, cakes and pies galore! The staff is friendly and I was in and out quickly! They are not inexpensive but well worth the quality. Bring cash as no cards are accepted. Plenty of ATMs near by.

We just had my daughter’s first birthday party and ordered from Testa’s the black-white cake with buttercream frosting. We also ordered a single mini-sized same cake just for my daughter. They were both delicious! Service was exceptional. They scanned a photo for the half-sheet(easily fed 30 ppl) and it came out great.

At up to 2 bucks a cookie it can get pricey but you can get tiny personal cakes for 2 dollars such as a black forrest cake. I remember as a girl going in for cupcakes that looked like the cookie monster. They do well or a basic home town bakery but remember, its the homestyle flavors that can’t be beat and keep people coming back for generations. I only gave 4 starts because their prices at times aren’t «not that bad ill still get what I want» bad but instead they’re «oh hmm i guess I’ll just buy one treat today». But it’s not all the time.

30th Anniversary Cake, today; usually here for my Special Birthday Cake, which is the Italian Wedding Cake in Chocolate and instead of Peanuts, Almonds on the sides. Testa’s has never let me down. Christmas Cookies, Easter Cakes, too. Always the best.

I stopped into Testa’s on Sunday afternoon to grab a dessert or two. My parents were coming over for dinner. I usually patronize a different local bakery, but decided to try Testa’s while on the Boulevard for other reasons. I love old time family-run Italian bakeries. Fresh, obviously handmade confections. My favorite pine nut and sesame cookies. School girls behind the counter. Walls filled with pictures of local kids on the field or at graduation, newscasters, fishing trips. Great service adn unbelievable prices. We tried the coffee cake($ 6.50), a 10″ ring of pie pastry, rolled edge stuffed with cinnamon and brown sugar and a generous disk of sweet cheese filling in the center. We had a half cheese cake($ 4.50) which turned out to be a very light ricotta pie made in a square pan.

Didn’t like anything! I got 4 different pastries from there incl carrot cake and a chocolate cake. Horrible! I won’t be back. Maybe I should have got cookies. I gave two stars b/c the service was awesome. All the food went in the trash.

I love going to family owned establishments and this is a fine example. The people are very nice here. The quality of their product is very high and their prices are commensurate with this. Expect extremely tasty baked goods that are worth the price. The variety is also great. Don’t bother with street parking. There is a great public parking lot across the street.

While the cakes can be a bit pricey, the cakes here are delicious to get. They are high quality and very good. I would probably get more cakes from here, but they are very expensive. But if you want to treat yourself once in a while, this is the place to go if you are in the area.

Testa’s made my wedding cake and we were really happy with it. Lou took his time in asking me what I was looking for in terms of design and flavors. We picked a three layer square wedding cake with chocolate chip, vanilla, and chocolate pound cakes all with vanilla butter cream icing. People are still asking where we got our wedding cake from. The price was really fair and it was delivered and set up when we were expecting it to be. I have no complaints and I’m really happy that we chose Testa’s– it’s one of the few old school Italian bakeries around.

I’ve gone here for many years and although the food is good and the bakery does have some quality products… you are going to pay dearly for them. We went here to get a cookie tray one day when we were having a bunch of people over the house. We go to the lady over the phone please prepare us a cookie tray with assorted Italian cookies worth 50 dollars. When we received it the tray held roughly 50 cookies and was VERY small. When I inquired as a joke where the rest of the cookies were i was looked down upon and made fun of. I do enjoy good cookies and LOVE good Italian cookies, however this place could be less expensive as they do serve a wonderful niche market.

Best Italian cream cake ever! Go in March to order St. Joseph’s cake, available for one week a year. Great cannoli and coffee cake. Family owned and operated.
