It looks like someone took a pub in the middle of London and fork lifted it to Darby Road. This place is awesome. The bartenders are always welcoming when I walk in. I am also a huge soccer fan. When it comes to watching a match, there isnt a better place to go for miles! The beer selection is always awesome and they switch them up pretty often. This will also forever be my 19th hole. Cheers Crossbar.

Wow, very impressed with this place. I love the outside façade; it looks like a pub from Dublin. Inside it is pretty cool, very nice, eclectic, and comfortable, although small. I came for a sort of happy hour. I mean come on; I tell my wife every hour with me is happy, regardless of the time of day. Truly though we went out for a few pints on an early Saturday afternoon. The bar was full, basically, everyone had a seat though. We each got some vittles and did some people watching. It looks like an Irish bar, but is pretty much a sports bar. I would suggest trying it out if you are in the vicinity of the Oakmont or Brick and Brew which is about 50 yards away, just across the street. You can’t go wrong if you stop in for a pint earlier in the day. I enjoyed my meal and will be back.

Remains a solid place and all of my initial observations remain relevant. –Nice cozy bar, staffed appropriately –Decent beer selection; too many IPAs on draught –Limited menu, which is fine but still need to have the right options. –Both offered salads are lackluster. Their neighbor across the street makes a killer wedge. Rish CB would get into the game. –I like the wings here. Small in size but make up for it in tenderness and flavor. Some minor adjustments make this a lock at 4 stars… Until then, a solid 3 it is.

I’ve always enjoyed going to the Crossbar for a great beer and burger. The place isn’t large but even when it’s crowded we can usually get a seat without waiting too long. This is another go-to in the up-and-coming beer destination of Havertown, especially when some of their neighbors are too crowded. There is a dedicated football(think real football, not NFL) community here, which is hard to find in the ‘burbs. The beer selection is always on point, the service is fantastic, and the food is great. The owner is a really nice guy, at least during my few run-ins with him. If I could change one thing, I’d have them get rid of their shoestring fries and get the real deal. But that’s just my preference. Who knew people had fry preferences? :-)

Very limited menu, which would normally be fine. Except last night we couldn’t get the crossbar burger because they were out of bacon. We ordered regular burgers cooked medium. All 3 came out well done. The wings were ok, but the sauce tasted very salty. Beer selection was ok. I won’t bother returning.

Welcoming staff. Good food. Focused on providing a good product. I heard the bartender talking to a manager/owner about future beer selections. They seemed really knowledgeable and strategic about purchasing beers their customers will love. Another note about the food: many restaurants try to do too much with the menu. They try to be all things to all people. Not the case here. They offer a brief, well conceived menu. Not too fancy but not full of fried food(thank God). An honest place.

Great place to watch soccer, or any other sporting event for that matter. Friendly service and decent food. Nice beer selection, full bar. One of the only places in the area that opens early for EPL games.

Great venue for sports watching. The food is decent and the dark wood paneling makes the place very cozy.

Limited menu, and they are playing international ESPN taking about sports no one cares about so you have to scream over some ass hole talking about hurling and cheese rolling. Not the place to meet friends for a quite drink. If what you want to do is fuel your anti social alcoholism in true Irish fashion then this is the place for you.

My friend that lived nearby suggested this place as a stop to get some good wings and he brought us here. The weather wasn’t cooperating that much so the bar was pretty empty and we sat down right away-both ordered the wings and a beer(their selection is respectable, with a lot of different styles/breweries, but nothing crazy) and then sat back. We each had a dozen and when they came out there was… I don’t want to say disappointment, but they were small, just so darn small. My friend leaned over and said, «I don’t remember them being this small.» They were pretty good though, and while they were small I did get pretty full of them and washing it down with a Terrapin beer made it all the easier. I ended up ordering one more before hitting the road(a beer, not wings) and got the Karnival Kolsch. Now, our bartender wasn’t the friendliest guy-it was definitely slow so he was doing a lot of sidework, and talking to regulars-or just lonely guys who come to make chit chat at a bar, so he left us alone. He did however, give us our last rounds free of charge when we cashed out. For that alone, I’m willing to give it a 4.

Cozy little pub in Havertown. The food is typical pub fare(burgers, fries, roast beef, etc). The menu is pretty limited, but that isn’t always a bad thing. I thought the food was solid. I had a hot roast beef that was definitely above average. Fries were very good also. The best part about the Crossbar is the décor: exposed brick, dark wood and a nice big bar(with a good beer selection too). I have only been there for lunch, so can’t speak to a Friday/Saturday night or Happy Hour crowd. They typically have sports on the multiple flat screens: hockey, baseball and quite often, soccer. Although I don’t really follow soccer, there appeared to be a pretty important game on one Sunday(British teams). Several people were there just for that and were heartily cheering along. I don’t know why, but I think that’s kind of cool. Adds to the atmosphere I guess. Cool spot for a beer.

I have been here quite a few times the last couple of months. Great place to watch soccer. Bartenders are very attentive and friendly. Food is pretty good and they give you a free drink every time a ball hits the cross bar so how do you not give this place 5 stars.

I really like the Crossbar. They have the best wings in Havertown in my opinion. The menu is small but everything is really good. Nothing fancy just good sandwich’s and burgers. The beer selection is nice too! The staff is friendly and accommodating. The only negative is, it is nearly impossible to get a seat on a Friday or Saturday night. It is really small so get there early if you plan on going.

After my fifth dine here I am happy to say that this place has been consistently good. My wife and I recently enjoyed sandwiches at the bar. After we ordered drinks and asked for menus, we took it as a compliment when the bartender insisted that I give him a credit card to hold, even after we told him we were having dinner and paying cash — I guess we still look young enough to look like flight risks! Thank you Crossbar!

The food is expensive, good but expensive. The drinks are about average in terms of price and they’re very good, great selection. I like this place, it’s small but beautifully decorated, very clean and has a cozy relaxed feeling. I will say though in my experience, the bartender is kinda absent, he does get around to you eventually after serving you the first time but he pretty much ignores you which gets old pretty fast. Though in all other regards he’s a competent barkeep. There’s three big beautiful tvs on the wall so there’s no escaping the sports games, i’m not even a sports watcher but when i’m here i find myself getting into the game. I’ve also had good experiences with my fellow bar patrons, everyone’s friendly and talkative which is nice! Plus during soccer games, if the ball hits the crossbar, everyone gets a free drink!

I love going to the Crossbar during soccer season. I could spend all Saturday and Sunday watching the games. There is always soccer fans watching games on the weekends. I does not matter which game is on, you can find a friend wearing the same jersey as you. The bar is very clean, has a bunch of TVs on the walls. It does not matter where you are sitting, you will be in view of a TV. Although I generally order Guinness when I am at the Crossbar, the beer selection is good. A list of the beers will be written on the wall everyday. I think the wings are very good, and I have gotten the burger a few times. The burgers are excellent. I know I will be going to the Crossbar for a long time. It is my favorite bar in Havertown.

The beer and pub food landscape of Havertown is dreadful. I have lived here for 10 years in spite of the fact that there is no descent food or beer in this town. This has started to change in recent months, only 15 years behind Philly just a few miles away. The Crossbar is a nice welcome addition to the neighborhood. It is good, but not great. The menu is small, but what I have tried has been tasty. Especially the burger — not bad if it is cooked properly. The beer menu is better than the neighboring bars, such as Tip O’leary’s and The Oakmont. A few more unusual beers that they might carry. However, since I have been there more than 4 times I have noticed that they do not change their beer list much. If you want to be a destination for good beer, you better change your list frequently. They have the usual suspects and they are heavy on the IPA’s which my boyfriend likes, but lack in the stout and porter selection(what I usually prefer). Also the prices on the beer are high. Most beer bars in the city have a $ 3 beer and a special. There is no craft beer on draft that is under $ 5.00. Too much! Since they tend to serve locals, I would suggest that they should change up the food menu with a weekly special and also change the beer menu more often. I know I would come back more if I knew I had that to look forward to. Otherwise, it is only another 15 minutes down the road to Local 44 — a real beer bar that serves great food as well. I guess I am glad that it isn’t another pizza joint!

Pretty ok beer selection, but does there need to be 7 big olé flat screen TVs in such a tiny place? The exposed brick wall is nice and funky but unfortunately it’s the only place you can look without being inundated by all sports all the time. I like that it’s walkable from my house, the bartenders are nice, the bar itself is cool, but c’mon, turn off a television(or 5) and make it cozy. I was hoping this was going to compete with Ardmore’s new pub Tired Hands, but unfortunately it’s not in the same league. but maybe I’m being too harsh. I mean, at least it’s not another hair salon.

I’ve been here a couple of times for drinks. They put a lot of care into the renovation of this bar. The beer list is solid, with interesting and approachable selections. The staff works hard. It’s a little small, but a great spot to hide out, eat some pub food and watch a game.

There is a new bar/pub in town and as a passionate supporter of all things Havertown my first impressions are mostly positive with a few cautions thrown in. When you walk in the door most folks will be impressed. We’re talking dark wood, ceiling fans, and a beautiful exposed brick wall. This is a tiny place. The bar seats about a dozen. Regarding tables; I spotted two four-tops by the window and four high– tops along the bar. That’s it. I understand that there is an upstairs but it’s not ready for prime time at the moment. So I sat at the bar and perused the beer list and the menu. They have twelve taps posted on a blackboard. They included Flying Dog and Allagash White. The menu is one page and there are no surprises. Most of the sandwiches are $ 8.00 or a little more. The standard appetizers are available. I ordered pot stickers for $ 7.00. Six of the little devils arrived nicely plated. They were accompanied by a spicy chili dipping sauce which is a good thing because the pot stickers themselves, while pretty, were flavorless. It’s time to look into a new supplier for them. On this Saturday night I arrived just after 5:00 pm. I was one of six at the bar. After an hour the place was just about packed. To me, one key to a great bar experience is the staff. A super bartender is an expert at interacting with people. My guy didn’t make the grade. There was no effort to interact with me. He never asked if my food was OK. I watched him with the other patrons and noticed the same lack of engagement. As these folks are new, I’ll give him a pass this time but this need to be fixed. As I prepared to leave I checked out my bill. The prices are in line with the competition. That’s a good thing because Peabody’s, Oakmont and Lamplighter are within sight. It’s great to have a new business in town. I plan on stopping back and hopefully watching them mature into a big success in our little town.
