I thought the wine was 3 stars(but well priced), but the service and facilities were 4 stars, minimum. Nice patio behind the home, too. And one of their pets was a retired police dog, who must have been the most chill German Shepard I’ve ever seen. Mt Felix is an old manor house, with the converted tasting room being the new edition at ‘only’ around 100 years old. While they aren’t a farm, they do lease land to their neighbors so be prepared for ‘farm’ smells from the cows when you arrive! My server was one of the owners; she was very welcoming and chatty. One of her ancestors(or maybe her husband’s) came from Italy and apparently that’s one of the inspirations for making wine. As my family also has historical mementos on display, I can appreciate their dedication to heritage. They offer tastings of either the sweet or dry wines for $ 8, or both for $ 15; I did the dry. I wasn’t a fan of the white wines(although to be fair, I seldom drink whites anyway), but thought the reds were OK. The Red Fish red blend was kinda fruity; must have been heavy on the Chambourcin. The Sangiovese was fruity as well, as opposed to the spiciness I’ve seen from other places.

Me and my lover rolled through here on a rainy Thursday afternoon. There were a couple of dogs roaming around out front but both were very friendly. The tasting room looked to be an addition to the original house. It was a cozy little area. The bar was spacious. Tastings were cheap & she even gave us a few extras for free. I bought two bottles. The hostess/bartender was a splendid woman. The yard looked really nice and had a gorgeous view of the Chesapeake and vineyards. Picnics are encouraged!

I came here with my girlfriend as a first stop before proposing later in the day. The staff was unbelievably friendly and so accommodating. I told them what I wanted to do the day before and they exceeded my expectations. They reserved a table for us on the patio and placed a flower on it for my girlfriend for when we arrived. We sat on the patio for hours with a picnic and amazing view. The property was beautiful and the wine was great. We will definitely be back.

Very pleasant staff of three at the tasting bar but, unfortunately, my server offered little information on the wine we tasted. We did purchase 2 delicious glasses of chardonnay to enjoy on the patio. It was very pleasant with Andrea Bocelli music and a view to the Chesapeake Bay. I was surprised to see the grounds are not better maintained particularly the weeds and grass growing through the cracks in the patio area and an overall need for pruning and sprucing-up. Overall, a pleasant time here and will return!

My boyfriend and I had such a lovely visit to the Mount Felix Winery! This was our very first stop on or road trip. The winery opens at 10:45 and we arrived just in time. Driving up to the wine tasting room we admired the beautiful farm landscapes and cows galore. Next door is a creamery. We were greeted warmly upon entering. We both did the dry wine tasting for $ 12 including the take home glass. The wines were fabulous. We ended up buying a blush and white. Since it was still early we were the only ones there. We asked to have our chilled white wine out on the patio. They turned on some music for us and let us just bask in the beautiful scenery. Not to mention they had this amazing huge Italian Mastiff doggie outside who was hanging with us. We walked the property too. Just gorgeous. Can’t wait for our next visit.

Great little place. We wondered into the tasting bar and discussed a few options, then out to the patio with our choices. The place is a cool old farmhouse(i guess someone still lives there) converted to a winery. Sitting on the patio you have some good views all the way out to the Chesapeake. It was relaxing to sit out there in the shade with a cool breeze.

The winery had a dry and sweet flight tarting available for $ 12 each. There were 5 or so wines per flight so it was a good way to get a feel for the wines the vineyard makes. Our associate didn’t talk to us about the wines and I wish she had. We were able to take a bottle out back and enjoy the scenery before we left.

Their wines are decent and they have a bit of variety, but the employee who poured our tasting did not describe the wines or give any details about the grapes, the winemaking process, etc. My favorite part of a winery experience is learning about the winery, their methods, their grapes, etc. Also, their outdoor picnic area is a bit small and not terribly inviting. Overall, I think the winery is worth stopping in and checking out, but I doubt I will be back.

Husband and I stopped here on our way to a quiet night on the bay for our anniversary. We both enjoyed several of the wines. Atmosphere is beautiful. I did feel rushed by the pourer, however, and it was hard to make conversation. It put a damper on the experience. We really wanted to sit and enjoy the tastings but it was hard to do with someone rushing you. Left with three bottles. I’d rate it between 3 – 4, but since the wines were delicious and the dogs were cute, I gave it a 4. Would stop in again but wouldn’t make a special trip/go out of our way.

Wines: They charge a $ 5 fee for tastings and they have 2 flights – sweets and drys. We were not fans of the dry whites and enjoyed 1 or 2 of the dry red wines – however a few of them were«chocolately» which we don’t enjoy. The sweets were definitely the stars of the winery. We found a few that we liked – specifically the pumpkin wine and a wine that would be perfect for sangria(can’t recall the name!!). The pumpkin was definitely unique and that’s the one we purchased. The fruit wines seemed to be priced fairly, but the dry wines seemed a bit overpriced to us. Location: This winery is located right off of 95 which made it a nice stop for us on our way towards our vacation. The tasting room is tiny, but the outside area behind the tasting room is gorgeous. The view is spectacular and if we were not headed somewhere else, we would have stayed and grabbed a glass. Service: The service was adequate. The pourer was not very personable; however she did her job and took us through the wines. I was disappointed with this because I saw in other reviews that the pourers took them through stories about the different wines. They do included chocolate pairings for their dessert wines as well. Overall, we may return if we are passing through the area or going to other nearby wineries, but we would not return to visit just this winery.

I had my first wine tasting at Mt. Felix. I was intimidated going into it, as I don’t really know much about wine. But the experience was wonderful. I did the sweet tasting, and my boyfriend did the dry tasting. I loved almost every wine I had. We walked away with a bottle of San Cosmo(SOGOOD — can’t wait to make sangria with it this summer — although I may not be able to wait that long), C’est Le Havre(a delicately sweet and fruity white), and … a red that I can’t remember the name of because my boyfriend took it home with him. Another favorite was the pumpkin wine which I will definitely purchase come fall. The co-owner was so nice to talk to, and made the whole experience really pleasant. We were newcomers to Havre de Grace, about to spend the day in town, and she talked to us at length about her recommendations, gave us a map of the town and marked her favorite spots on the map for us. A nice, and unexpected gesture :)

Loved loved loved this winery! Pros: beautiful setting, good wine selection, yummy wines, attentive service, super cute winery dog named Zoe, and a freeze full of yummy frozen duck products straight from their farm for purchase(we got the duck bacon!!!). Chocolate pairings for the dessert wines and fruit for their red wine to show how it can’t be made into sangria was a fabulous bonus! Con: Teeny tiny tasting room. Had to wait a bit for a seat at the counter in order to be served without passing glasses over or around people.

Wineries should be relaxing, quiet, slow-paced places. I don’t get that impression from Mount Felix. The driveway into the winery is a one-lane gravel road that you may have to share with oncoming traffic, including tractors, and possibly cows. Parking appears like it may be sparse during peak times, but we had no trouble on a Sunday afternoon. The large brick home looks inviting, but the tasting room is actually a small cottage to the right(the house’s left), which most people walk by. The inside of the cottage is small and rustic, which is nice, but the bar is positioned so that it’s shorter than had they laid it to go along the long side of the wall. So, when you arrive to the tasting room, there are 5 stools available, and perhaps standing room for one more. If there are more than 5 people, you have to stand in the back, and reach over people to get glasses of wine. And since Havre de Grace is a waterside touristy area, it attracts tourists in catchphrase-laden sweatshirts, who will stand in the middle of three barstools, oblivious to people coming in who want to sit and relax. Not as thoughtless are the flies, who aren’t so rude as just doing their job, because there’s a good bit of sugary smells going around. The flies, yes, are numerous and a bit annoying, and there appeared to be nothing done by the staff to curtail the fly population, whether it was keeping the door closed or using fly strips. The back porch looks inviting, with metal tables and chairs-a plenty, but then, you realize the house sits on a bit of a hill, with the land sloping downward from the porch — meaning there’s nothing to block all the wind. There are large, powerful speakers attached to the house at the back porch, blaring loud rock-like Italian opera. Next to the tasting room is ongoing construction, which numerous people asked about, and were told to stay away from, but ventured up to anyway. The wine itself is hit-and-miss. The sweet wines aren’t bad, for the most part, and we took home a bottle of the Terra Maria(I think), which was a surprisingly good Pumpkin wine, and a Vin Fiz. Except that when we got home, we realized they’d put the cherry/chocolate wine in our bag by mistake. Oh well. The real shame, though, is the dry red selection. You have the option of doing the reds and sweets as a combo, which we did, but I recommend you don’t do this. The red selection was … well, terrible. Each wine was overly dry and very flat, with no memorable taste to any of them. Each had no body, no depth, nothing. It was like drinking red liquid with alcohol. I hate to be blunt, but they were just sad. Again, I think the sweet wines aren’t bad — but most are about on par with the bottom-shelf wines you’ll see in stores(Barefoot and so forth). The Pumpkin wine(served both chilled and warm) was a nice surprise, but I can’t recommend the winery to anyone for anything but.

Military Discount: 5% This is a beautiful Harford County Winery nestled in the country side, right off of I-95 heading into Havre De Grace, MD abt a mile from the interstate. To make a long story short, the winery was getting ready to close at 5pm, but they still let us begin a tasting at 4:55pm. Cudos Mt Felix!!! A full tasting of Reds & Sweets — $ 11 A red tasting — $ 7 A sweet tasting — $ 5 This is one of three Maryland Wineries we visited today for Sheri’s Birthday and we had a wonderful time sampling their wines. They did not charge us for Sheri’s sampling today as a Birthday gift. Very nice of them. Their wines are a tad pricey, but they are good, and well worth the money. This winery is an old farm that was converted. The grounds are stunning, with an awesome view from the back slate patio that has a commanding view of the Chesapeake Bay and the Susquehanna River off in the distance. The winery has live music on Sunday afternoons at 1pm, weather permitting. One drawback is that there is no food offered here like at Boordy, but you are welcome to bring a picnic lunch, dinner, or snack!!! We definitely plan on returning.
