Our first time to this restaurant. Food was fine. My wife and I ordered a spring rolls appetizer, two tom yom soups, and duck entrees. The problem? The appetizer and the soups came out together. Barely having finished eating the appetizer and the soups, out came the duck platters. Our table hadn’t even been cleared. The waiter put down the duck dishes and then picked up the dirty dishes to make more room. Our actual«dining» experience was about 45 minutes. On a Saturday night, the place was relatively empty. It’s a small place, but nonetheless there were only 3 couples seated. We won’t be going there again. Too many good Thai restaurants in the area that know how to pace a meal and serve good meals.

My local Thai restaurant. The place is small so I usually order to go. They prepare the food very quickly and it’s always fresh and tasty. I love their drunken noodles and curry duck. It’s a convenient place to order food from since it’s so close to our house.

Great service and great food. I think they make the best salmon massaman curry. It is addictive.

Seriously, one of the best Thai Restaurants I’ve ever been too. Nothing fancy, but the food is simply great. Chicken is always tender, their Curry Puffs are great. Service is always nice and genuine smile…

We had dinner with family they put sugar in every appetizer and main course. I order red snapper which they dip fry it it looked offal. Service was very bad only a waitress she was doing ten different things at one time. Paying $ 160.00 for dinner but going home with empty stomach, after dinner we had to order pizza in.

I’m a big fan of Thai food, and I’d have to say this is actually the best Thai place I’ve been to in the area. I primarily get Curry, and Tom Yum has a way of getting just the right balance of spicy, savory, and mild that I don’t taste in other places. The appetizers, including the curry puffs, are great as well. You might find that the interior is a little drab, but that’s honestly just standard with Thai restaurants. As long as it’s comfortable and the food is good, who cares. It’s in a very unsuspecting location in an incredibly quiet town, but don’t sleep on this place.

Wow… So glad we found you on Unilocal!!!Loved everything about this wonderful Thai restaurant. So fresh, flavorful and such nice people. Highly recommend the spring rolls, curry puffs and masaman curry. Thai iced tee was delicious. Way out of our way, but we’ll be back again and again. Thank you Tom Yum!

Overall a good Thai restaurant. Very friendly service in a cozy setting. Had duck with basil sauce, which was properly seasoned. Did not get a chance not try the curry dishes. The glass noodle with beef had a very nice flavor. Close to the quality at Bangkok Gardens in Hackensack

Excellent Thai food, good menu. Standouts for us were the summer rolls(big portion) and the pineapple fried rice — both so fresh and flavorful. We’ll be back.

Went with friends to tom yum for dinner-we got 2 salads with peanut sauce, spring rolls. I got the drunken noodles with shrimp and squid(delicious), my friiend had pork with garlic sauce, my friend had sweet and sour shrimp. Service was very prompt-would recommend and return.

I’m not going to serve up any major Haterade here, but I really don’t think Tom Yum is a true 4.5 star restaurant in comparison to other Thai places. The food is respectable and the service is gracious, but I haven’t been wowed by anything here. I think it’s one of the better places to eat in the Demarest/Closter/Haworth/Dumont area, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here. Pimaan, which is about 10 minutes away from Tom Yum, is a much better option if you want a better array of flavors and dishes to choose from. As a neighborhood takeout joint, I would give Tom Yum 4 stars — all the noodles and apps and curries are reliably tasty — but this is not a spectacular place.

After visiting many mediocre Thai restaurants in New York City then coming home and re — trying Tom Yum, I have to say that it’s still one of my favorites. The restaurant is small, but you don’t feel cramped. It’s also a byob! Their curry puffs are some of the best I’ve ever had. The red curry and the drunken noodles are also both exceptional, flavorful, and generously portioned.

Finally made it here, I’ve been wanting to try it because of the great reviews and the close location. Went for lunch, it was fairly empty so we were seated quickly. They have a good deal for the lunch special $ 7 for two appetizers and a main course. I ordered the salad, spring rolls and chicken pad thai plus the lychee iced tea which I was curious about. The food came out very quickly, within 10 minutes of ordering. The dishes were a little small for what you typically get but I was ok with it given it was a lunch special. The salad and spring rolls were fine and the pad thai was just ok, not anything amazing, the chicken was undercooked and the pad thai was missing something overall. I liked the lychee iced tea, a little sweet for my liking but interesting taste. I wasn’t was impressed as the other reviewers on here but I will give this place a second chance in the near future.

My family and I really enjoyed coming here. The food is delicious, and the service was great. They have a lot of choices to choose from. My favorite is the pineapple fried rice, eggplant and green beans, crispy spring rolls and pad thai. And definitely top that off with a nice, cold Thai ice tea! We’ll be back here again soon!

Came here on a Tuesday night and it was just my fiancée and I and another couple. Price: Fair for the area Décor: basic Service: good Food: ok. I love Thai food and I have been to a bunch of great Thai places in NYC. This food was just bland. I think it needed more spice and flavor. I order Pad Thai a popular and simple dish, it lacked vegetables, lemon and peanuts. I don’t think I will come back. Nothing special here.

Man, literally just got back from dinner here. Certainly will be back for another round very soon. Had the boneless sliced duck with basil sauce, a bit pricey at $ 18 but seriously worth every single dollar. Its been a long time since I’ve had duck this good. Perfect crisp exterior, tender juicy on the inside, over a bed of vegetables and spices. Incredible. Pad thai was very authentic, perfect amount of spice, no overpowering sugar. I ordered it with tofu, which was perfectly fried with soft centers and crisp skin. Was a very quiet friday night, few tables open around 8pm. Wait staff was very attentive and incredibly nice/polite. Deco was nicely done, very simple and relaxing atmosphere. Looking forward to trying a number of new things from Tom Yum, very promising thai spot in north jersey.
