Chicken & Rib Crib

Ok so this is a small little hole in the wall in Hawthorne with what are arguably the best ribs in NJ. They are fall of the bone tender slathered in home made Bbq sauce. It’s one of those situations where the place is unassuming with 1 magical dish inside. Everything else here is good. I wish they would change the mustard they give out with the chicken fingers to honey mustard but aside From that… Best ribs hands down.
I don’t frequent often as its out of the way for me but sometimes I just have that craving.

The Chicken & Rib crib is all about the meat! It was my first time there so I ordered the 4X Combo dinner. The Ribs were tasty and fell off the bone, the fried chicken was succulent and the fried shrimp was tender and top quality! Where they lost the last star was on their sides. The mashed potatoes were powdery and bland and the dinner rolls were supermarket quality and day old dry. The gravy and cocktail sauce was also generic and probably bought in 5 gallon buckets. On the other hand, the tarter sauce was actually pretty tasty and I used it to save the mashed potatoes from their bland existence. Great place for quick & fresh takeout. I only waited 15 minutes for the meal as a walk up customer. I recommend the Ribs over the chicken if you are on a budget.

Tenders are consistently delicious! Just the right amount of tenderness and juiciness. Plus, everything is made fresh so that is an obvious bonus. I’m never not satisfied when I get food from Chicken & Rib Crib. Love it dearly.

Place blows. Order your food, give you a 20 minute pickup time. They fail to mention the extra 20 minute wait time, once you arrive in establishment for 40 total minutes. Poor management. Poor everything. Also they claim to have delivery, and it usually isn’t running. Probably one of the a list employees from Paterson they have running the place.

My last review stated that this was a good chicken spot. I take back every positive word I wrote. My boyfriend and I just ordered ribs, mashed w/​gravy and potato skins with cheese and bacon. WORST MEAL OF MY LIFE. Cold oatmeal would have been more satisfying.
The ribs used to be pretty damn good. They were cold and tough. No more fall of the bone tenderness. I don’t know if they got new ribs in or what. Don’t get them!
As for the potato skins… if you like fake liquid cheese and bacon bits these skins are for you!
We barely touched the food that cost us $ 30. My boyfriend decided to call and ask if they changed the ribs and the price of the skins from $ 6.75 to $ 8.75 because the receipt didn’t match the menu price.
When he spoke to the owner to ask his questions he was told, and I quote, «Go f*ck yourself 100 times!» Real nice customer service. Needless to say, we’re never going back.

Chicken tenders are constantly great! Always very tender and seasoned up perfectly.
Service has always been very good. If you haven’t tried this place, definitely do!

This used to be my absolute favorite chicken place in the world, and as a buffalo wing connoisseur; that’s saying a lot! There was a point in time where I actually came here almost every single day for an entire year (sometimes twice). I used to order the 5 piece buffalo tender dinner with fries, couldn’t get enough of it. It was 5 jumbo chicken cutlets, and the wing sauce on it was extraordinary. Over the years it’s faded, and I would probably have to order 3 meals to get the same amount of chicken I used to get. Seriously, the tenders are pretty much chicken nuggets now. I’m sure times are hard. But it’s gotten ridiculous.
I haven’t been there in a while, but I’m not writing this review to bash anyone. In fact, I’m hoping the owners will read this and take into consideration how far they’ve fallen. I miss this place, and I miss what it used to be.

This use to be a good place and now it’s turn to shit, I can get cheaper chicken strips at mac Donald’s and they are the same size.
So why would I wast my money and time to paying $ 9.00 for 5 chicken strips

Read so many great reviews but I was let down. The mashed potato was instant and it tasted gummy… yuck. The ribs were just ok not a ton of flavor which was not helped by the barely there sauce which were on them. I noticed sauce cost extra. I really wanted to like this place was thinking of trying their fried chicken but will pass.

Just like I remembered from years ago when I had a local one. Ribs were super tender and yummy. Chicken was fried great, crispy but tender. Great steak fries. Disco fries were good too. Very good coleslaw.
They need to reopen the one in Fairfield. The 25 min ride one way is making it tough to order from there.
Great for gathering like games or picnics or parties.
Worth the money.

I’m so pissed I wasted my money there. The worst sides. Mashed potatoes were horrible. Mac and cheese was like vomit. The corn was the worst thing ever. Not even a crow would that shitty corn no flavor at all. Chicken was blah… I won’t bother ever again.

I’ve only been here once so far so take that into consideration while reading my review.
At a glance: As the name suggests, Chicken & Rib Crib specializes in fried chicken and ribs. The ribs were better and more impressive, in my opinion, because it’s harder to properly cook a really good rib than it is to fry a piece of chicken.
This place is a serious hole in the wall. You walk in and it’s a kitchen with a counter. No chairs. No tables. Only take out or delivery. Delivery is free for Hawthorne residents. Outsiders have to pay $ 2.
Honestly, I thought their ribs were some of the best spare ribs I’ve had in a while. Spare ribs are tougher in texture than baby back. I’ve made them a few times and haven’t gotten them nearly as «fall off the bone» tender as Chicken & Rib Crib got them. Since I’ve only been here once I can’t vouch for their consistency. But, what I got was a seriously tender rib that basically fell apart as I picked it up. It had a slight charr and was covered in BBQ sauce. It was quite amazing.
The fried chicken was good too but when is fried chicken ever not good? Mashed potatoes were meh, wings were good (non-​breaded) and the disco fries were delicious. I will definitely be back.

Service was fast and courteous, I placed my order over the phone. The jalapeño poppers were good, Fries are nice, thick & crispy. The bread is horrible don’t even bother with it, its just dry with no flavor. The red hot buffalo wings have a nice kick, but really they don’t taste good at all, you can even see some feathers on my wings (fail). Now what I do recommend is there fried chicken, its reasonably priced, & has a nice crunch & flavor to it.

Went in there, was greeted with a smile placed my order of fried chicken ribs and wings. Gotta say some of the best I’ve ever had. Chicken was perfectly golden brown and it had a unique flavor. Wings were just the right amount of spice and heat. Not your typical toss in some sauce and out the door it goes, ribs weren’t too saucy and they were super tender and fall off the bone at a touch. Got to talking with the owner who is very funny, welcoming and a hard worker. Cares about every item that goes out the door. Over all been going there for a while and cant say enough good things about the food. U won’t be disappointed!

The best buffalo wings in Bergen County! I know that this review might disappoint some of you but if you eat the wings here and you don’t like them, you might as well go get a bag of the frozen stuff at ShopRite because you really don’t care about great buffalo wings.
The red hot wings here are delicious. I love spicy and hot foods and this flavor is perfect. It gives you that heat that you want but it doesn’t kill your tongue. These wings seriously have helped me overcome a cold. The wings are pretty big too. The steak fries are great. The little roll that comes with combos is kinda forgettable. You should also keep some blue cheese dressing at home or get a few extra cups from here (39 cents each).
There’s always at least a 15 minute wait when you place an order with them but I’m fine with it. I’ve never just walked in and placed an order (always call!). If you’ve had a problem with the timing of your order, there’s a good chance that you placed your order on Super Bowl Sunday at 6pm. If you did this and were expecting your order to be ready on time, you are an idiot.
Also, the bar that they share the parking lot with used to allow you to bring in wings from here but I’m not sure if they still do (best to call the bar to check on that).
Oh and I’ve never had a problem with the staff nor owner here. If you had an issue, they must’ve really been having a bad day or you must’ve been a difficult customer («hey i know that i ordered 40 wings and you started making them but i only want 20 now»).
Be brave and try the buffalo tenders (huge!) and get them red hot!

Ok. So heres the deal. This place is all about pick up. There is no sit down. I’ve been here a few times and yes I agree with other Unilocalers there is ALWAYS a wait, However to me, its worth it. They make everything fresh to order thats why they make you wait. I would rather wait and get the hot food then something thats been sitting in the back for who knows how long. Avoid the bread, its just a side that clearly isnt there specialty. The ribs and fried chicken are Delicious and consistent.
I always find small places inconsistent but they do a good job with that. I’ve had the exact same order with the exact same quality every time.
I just picked up my superbowl order. The hot sauce smells so delicious.

This place use to be great, unfortunately things have gone down hill. The food is average at best and there’s always a 10 – 15 minute wait even when ordering ahead. I could deal with the wait if the wings were what they once were, but now they’re typically over cooked and have minimal meat on them. What I can’t deal with is the huge attitude you get from the employees, it’s like I’m bothering them when I call to place an order and when you show up and the orders not ready they give even more attitude. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone!

Very good fried chicken. Be prepared to wait at least 20 mins. but thats how u know ur getting good quality.

mac n cheese is eh, ribs are okay. im not a fan of thier sugary sweet sauce and the bread is just plain awful
other than those 3 things. Good food, huge portions and great service
haven’t but WILL try the potato skins, onion rings, shrimps and gyro!
