Interstate 405 Transmission and Complete Car Care

please don’t go to this place! the owner sam is a thief! he’s had my car for 7 months now, i paid him to fix it and he hasn’t done anything to the car, he stopped answering my phone calls, and he closed his shop. my car is stuck in his lot and he keeps avoiding me like a coward, i saw him today and he got in his car and ran thank god i got a picture of his license plate. please avoid this place the owner is a very dishonest!

the only reason i put one star is because it’s necessary to complete this review, but they get zero stars!!! this was thee worst auto service i’ve ever had!!! i took my 2006 bmw to get an oil change and the gentleman informed me i need new rotors, because the brakes were really bad. after him expecting the car and also adding more things he said it needed, i spent a little over $ 500 close to $ 600, and i payed money on a review he said to do to get a so called «discount» the car still is acting funny! the engine light came on right away and the car shakes if i go over 4o miles, it makes funny noises when i press the brakes! i thought these people were honest and helpful, but they are far far from!!! i recently had to take it to another body shop to have a piece replaced that they left lose and it cost me 130 $! i have been calling and calling them for the past 2 weeks and no answer, i went once and they were closed during operation hours, seems funny! i called today 03÷17÷15 and the recording says «you have reached sam» that doesn’t sound legitimate! please please do not go there!!! i will soon call the city and report these people!

Negative 5 stars they did an inspection on my car I spent 540 dollars for new rotors sensors and regular oil change and other things as well. When I received my car back two days later the engine light turned on, my car is shaking still makin the same noise I got a flat tire turned out it was a hairline leak that wasn’t easily detected so I went somewhere else to get that replaces couple days after that my left rear tire was having issues car was not derivable turns out the arm on the axal was broken I had to pay another place to fix that. The worst service ever a waste of my money and I have been callin the shop for 2 weeks now and it goes straight to the answering machine extremely dissapointed. Likely to report them at this point. My service engine light «check engine soon» should not come on after spending 540 dollars on what needed to be fixed still dealing with the same issues. They are so unprofessional for not answering the phone. I wouldn’t recommend anyone going there.

First off, I don’t live that close to Hawthorne, but I heard of these guys from a close friend and since I needed transmission repair done on my Toyota Camry I thought I’d at least call them. Sam was so helpful and towed my car to his shop for FREE … all the way from Los Feliz. Once he diagnosed the problem, He explained in great detail what I needed done and he did not move forward until he got my approval. I wish this shop was closer so that I could use them for basic auto maintenance. but I will never go anywhere else but here.

What they did to me is CRIMINAL. Please read my entire post and save yourself a lot of stress.
When I first walked into Interstate 405 Transmission and saw the facility my gut instinct was to turn around and walk away. They didn’t have any business cards or company letterhead and the person who was working there would just let the phone ring and not answer it. Unfortunately I was in a rush to get to an meeting so I went ahead and left my car with them. This proved to be a huge mistake and has turned out to be a nightmare. I thought it was strange that the shop was running off of a generator located behind the shop and not getting its power from the city (no joke). I first brought my car to I405 Transmission on Tuesday 10÷21÷14 and was told that my transmission needed to be rebuilt. On Wednesday 10÷22÷14 I was asked, by Jon (shop manager), for my credit card number as they wanted to run the card to make sure that it was valid (I thought this was strange as they had my vehicle in their shop). Jon assured me that they would not actually put the charge through until after they finished the repair. That was the first lie as they charged my card $ 2,886.06 before doing any work at all. I picked my car up on Tuesday 11÷3÷14 and was asked for my credit card. I gladly gave it to them as I wasn’t aware that they had already charged me $ 2,886.06 (at this point I hadn’t checked my bank so now they have $ 5,772.12 from me). Upon entering my vehicle I noticed that there were foot marks (oil) all over my interior including the side of my passenger seat. The passenger side floor matt was upside down and there was sand all over it. I was in a rush and drove the car home without having them address the issue. On Tuesday morning 11÷4÷14 (at this point I only had the car back in my possession for about 12 hours) I noticed about a quart of Transmission fluid underneath the car all over my driveway. I immediately called Jon and he came by to pick the car up. Later that afternoon I received a call from Jon. According to him the reason why my transmission was leaking was because my motor mounts were bad (I later learned that a bad motor mount wouldn’t cause a transmission to leak… another lie). He said that I405 could replace the motor mounts (plural) for a cost of $ 550. He assured me that the leaks would be fixed so I gave him the OK to go ahead with the job. I also mentioned to him that my car was filthy from his people and he told me that they would clean it. I then picked the car up on Monday 11÷10÷14 expecting it to be clean and operate properly after spending a total of $ 3,436.06 (not including $ 2,886.06 from the double charge. This double charge wasn’t reversed by I405 until 2 weeks later and after several calls from me). The interior was never cleaned (I then paid a detailer $ 100 to get the oil off of my interior). On Tuesday 11÷11÷14 I checked my driveway only to see several spots of fresh fluid on the ground. I then called Jon to explain my findings. Jon proceeded to tell me that a few drops of leaking is expected and that I must drive the car around and get it hot so that it will seal itself (more lies). After going through all of this I was referred to an awesome mechanic by a good friend. What he found was horrible and downright criminal:
My transmission was never taken out of the car. There were multiple fluid leaks from the transmission. Two bolts were missing. The rear motor mount was badly worn and completely broken. I 405 charged me to replace this rear motor mount but never changed it. They only changed the front motor mount and forgot to tighten the bolts that hold it in place. There were excessive amounts of silicone all over the transmission pans and bolts. The transmission was slipping. There was fluid leaking from the radiator as they did not put the hose clip on properly. The entire undercarriage of my car was covered with fluid. All of this I documented by taking numerous photos of my vehicle while it was up on a lift. I also received a certified document by a licensed mechanic who recorded all of his findings.
Thank God I paid with my credit card as I’m having the company dispute the charges. Jon asked me to pay with cash but I didn’t feel comfortable doing so (go figure). I’m now having all of the work done by a reputable certified mechanic shop and will report this place to the Better Business Bureau as well as the Bureau of Automotive Repair. Don’t be foolish and learn from my mistake. These guys are CROOKS.

If I could I would give them 0 stars. I write as a person who sold a part to this shop. They received my part and gave me a bad check. I have called them more than 100 times. Their phone has the recording playing over and over. You leave massages they do not answer. The owner’s name is Sam. Anything comes out this persons mouth is a lie. He answered my massage once after tens of massages and told me the money is ready come and pick it up. I went there next day miring and the shop was closed. To make a long story short, do not do business with this guy. A man whose word has no value does not deserve our business. I live and die by my word.

Thank you for the attention to detail. You fixed the problem, you did not come up with new stuff to fix, the quote was right on and although i was not expecting car problems, the bill did not set me back on my budget. I was impressed on how well mannered every one was. thanks, i will be telling my girlfriends about you guys. With how much i drive I’m sure I will be back, but now I know it will not be a dreaded trip to the car shop.

i have to say i will go with the other thirteen 5 star reviews. i was first a little hesitant on bringing my vehicle in, but the crew at 405 were amazing and put me at ease.
i had my car at another mechanic shop who told me i needed a new transmission. when i called these guys for a price, they towed it in for a second opinion at no charge. i’m glad i did! it ended up being just a bad engine coil. my bmw runs great and no problems since. give these guys a shot — i did.
it sounds like this ryan r. guy is a crook and a mooch. i guess you can’t please everyone, especially someone trying to get something for nothing.

These guys communicated well, but are very dishonest and do low quality work.
I brought my car in for a clutch replacement and they screwed everything up and then lied about it. I brought my car back 2 additional times to give them the opportunity to fix it and they didn’t.
They did not perform the work promised.
The work they did perform was done poorly.
Entire front left suspension left loose (almost came apart while driving)
Wrong oil used in the transmission
Clutch not properly bled
Missing hardware between engine and transmission
Did not lubricate important parts of the transmission
Missing vent lines
Entire plastic skid plate fell off on the freeway
The work they performed was done later than scheduled.
Spent several weeks and weekends without a car
They used lower quality parts than promised.
Cheap aftermarket parts did not function correctly and had to be replaced
They tried to identify other problems with my car then screwed those up.
A.C. had pressure released and caps broken off in service port
Engine idle control was taken off and re-​installed incorrectly and now leaks
There is a reason their prices are low … they use low quality parts and do low quality work. They will mess your car up.
I had to pay for an inspection by Honda ($ 110) and file a dispute with my credit card in order to get my money back.
Buyer beware.

Great service from nice, knowledgeable people. When I go to a mechanic I want: (1) people who I believe know what they are doing (2) people who are not trying to overcharge me or offer sham servicing the car doesn’t need and (3) good customer service and people skills.
I forgot to post a review when I originally had my transmission rebuilt here about 2 months ago. That said, the couple months has given me a period to see how the car performs and it has been purring like new.
MOST IMPORTANTLY, Sam (the owner) and his son Max are genuine, trustworthy people who explained everything they needed to do in layman’s terms. They let me know what needed to be done and how pressing each thing the car needed was (i.e. whether the work really needed to be done now, or could wait).
The customer service was also great. They took me to and from work repeatedly, which was a major convenience. The fact that I know their names should tell you that they take time to interact with their clients.
I would highly recommend this place to others. I left feeling great with a car running well, which seems like a rarity when taking a vehicle to the mechanic.
This is my first Unilocal post, but seeing as they are a new business in an industry where others need some assurance before patronizing the place, I had to simply spread the word.

This is a very trustworthy place. They will not fix a part and screw up another so you have to go back. They explain what needs fixing and their pricing is reasonable. I’m a very happy customer and I’m happy to have found my forever shop. I highly recommend this place. 5 stars!

I recommend you all come for your automobile maintenance. This place has excellent customer service. The pricing/​job was explained to me and within my budget, should be for you as well. But then again, how well do you take care of your 4 wheeled bay bay?
You are told exactly what is needed. If any other issues are found, the attendant will notify you. However, unlike most mechanics, they don’t shove it down your throat that you must have this part replaced or this job taken care of. It’s a courtesy to you be notified. They’re honest, reliable and hospitable.

I’m a young woman who is always skeptical of getting any car service without having a male with me, but the guys here are amazing!!! Good, honest service and never for a moment did I think I was getting taken advantage of. Great place and I will definitely be a returning customer. Two thumbs up!

I just realized I forgot to post my review. I was referred to this shop by my BFF. I was on a budget and needed repairs ASAP. The staff was friendly and service was quick. The diagnostic was quick and they told me what I already knew. My car needed a fuel pump & and a new computer. The estimated amount for repairs was as promised. I loved the fact that They didn’t try to sell me extra stuff. The staff was friendly and prices are fair. The owner Sam, called me twice & kept me updated on the status of my repairs. I will come back again. I have told my family and friends about this awesome shop!

I am very pleased with this auto repair shop. Great costumer service and did a great job on my truck. They were completely understanding about the holidays being so near and allowed me to make payments on the work they’ve done, def a family owned place that I recommend.

Well… Let me tell you I was towed into this place. Did I get lucky… very, very, helpful, Friendly mechanics all came out to meet me when I pulled up in the passenger seat of the tow truck. It took them no time at all to tell me the problem of my vehicle. My fuel pump went out on me while I was on the freeway. To make a long story short I ended up getting an oil change also. Very cheap it was only $ 23 oil and filter. Couldn’t go wrong… I will send my sisters or any female I know there any day of the week … Thank you interstate 405
