Hailing from Western Pennsylvania where the cement skateparks are plentiful and allow bmxers to ride freely, it’s been quite a change to live in Los Angeles where you can’t ride a lot of them. Hawthorne Skatepark or Larry Guidi Skatepark is a decent bmx friendly skatepark if you ride bmx and are looking for a place to session up for awhile. They’ve recently begun enforcing helmets and full pads, so the skatepark is usually pretty empty at all times now. The construction of the skatepark could have been better, they have a decent size street spine but it lands you into a small mellow 4′ transition section on the other side. One thing the skatepark doesn’t lack is plenty of hips to hit and ledges to grind. The skatepark lacks good flow but if you are used to riding street then you should be ok.
