Raffi Motors

Raffi Motors is excellent. Chris is a very good mechanic and, even more importantly, he’s honest. We’ve been taking our Outback to him for years and have always been satisfied with the great customer service and professional results. If he finds something wrong he’ll fix it quickly at a reasonable price, and if he decides you can get by without a «repair» he will always tell you and try to save you the money. I even take my Ford truck to him now. He’s definitely the go-​to guy for car repairs.
An honest and competent auto mechanic is good to know. Chris is the man.

I’ve been to Raffi motors maybe 4 times now, and I’ve had nothing but good experiences. I have a 2002 WRX and it’s in pretty good shape, but I had a rough patch with it and dealt with some shady mechanics in the past. People who scare me into doing needless low quality repairs that don’t fix the problem, etc. I don’t know much about cars so what I like most is that Chris seems very honest and doesn’t try to trick you. I went in today to check my battery and asked if I needed an oil change. That could have been easy $$$ for him but he told me I just needed to top off, no change necessary. And he replaced my battery in less than half an hour. And previously I went in for a tune up and he pointed out a flaw with one of my axles that scared me, but he reassured me that it wasn’t a huge deal, I could wait if I wanted to. Then when I did eventually get it changed, he did it in about an hour. Pretty awesome.

If your reading this consider this your lucky day. The most honest place to get your car repaired. Chris is the BEST– Highly recommend for auto repairs.

Raffi Motors owner Chris is the best mechanic a female could ask for. He is honest, reliable, fast and helpful. He has worked on my cars many years, since early 2000. Ladies you can trust his diagnosis, and prices. I wont take my car to any other mechanic. He has been there for me when my car needed repair and I did not have the funds to pay the same day he repaired it. For those that dont believe the review because we mention his name, that is because we consider Chris to be more than a mechanic, he is a friend.

Chris is the most honest Mechanic around. No bullshit. Good people do still exist. From reading all the reviews most people take their Subaru’s in, but he took great car of my Honda CRV no problemo! Take your car to Chris. DO IT !!

Chris is the man for your all your Subaru repairs. He does excellent work and has great prices.
I will always bring my three subarus to him for repair. He replaced my timing belt on my Outback for the price he quoted me on the telephone and it took 6 hours to do. Very honest guy and knows his stuff.

I have to give Raffi Motors credit for great customer service. I haven’t gotten any major repairs done here, but I will be back for the next maintenance for sure.
Here’s why:
I brought my Subaru here a couple months ago because it had an engine light on. The mechanic, Chris, checked the codes and it turned out the gas cap was loose. Sheesh. He wouldn’t charge me even though I offered to pay.
However, I wasn’t out of there yet. I bought the car used, and about a year after I got it I had taken it into the Subaru dealership for a recall part replacement. They had to disconnect the battery and it had reset all the settings. When I got it back it stalled every time I slowed down and almost got me killed just bringing it back around the block. Eventually, the dealership mechanics got it back to whatever weird transmission/​fuel injection setting my Impreza likes and I was on my way. When Chris checked the codes it reset those settings again and the same stall problem happened. I brought it back, explained what had happened before, and Chris spent the next hour fiddling around with it and test driving it until it was back to normal. He drove it through 20 stop signs before he was satisfied that it was OK. Then he still didn’t charge me dime!!!

What can I add that hasn’t already been said?
Maybe just one thing — in case it’s not clear, Chris can work on lots of car makes/models…not just Subarus.
I first got Chris’s help back in 2007 for a Subaru, and we have since gotten work done on a Honda CRV, a Ford Explorer, and a classic Mustang (my mom and brothers now use him, too).
If he doesn’t know something, if he thinks work shouldn’t be done, or if he thinks someone else should do the work, he’ll tell you. If he does the work, he’ll do it right, courteously, and for a good price. What else can you ask for?

Chris is one of the most honest repairmen you’ll find out there. Sadly, I can only say I’ve had an oil change here. I have come here multiple times for my 1999 Subaru Legacy GT.
One time was for Chris to diagnose why my steering wheel was shaking while braking at high speeds. He looked for free and told me my brake rotors were beginning to warp, but that they still had a decent amount of life on them. Since my problem only occurred at high speeds, I decided not to get my brakes yet replaced. So Chris helped me save money.
Another time I visited Chris was for an oil leak. When I first asked AQ motorsports what it was, they said it was the oil and valve cover gaskets that would need to be replaced, which would cost $ 800. Chris told me that this is a common mistake, and that the underlying problem is in the camshaft gaskets, which is much harder to replace since it basically requires disassembling the whole engine. Chris said he would do it for $ 1500, but instead just to buy a $ 5 quart of oil and intermittently pour some oil in when necessary. This has been an easy fix and saved me a lot of money, so thanks Chris!
If you have a Subaru that you cherish, this is the place to bring it.

Please, Unilocal!,can we get 100+ stars for Raffi Motors? Chris is the absolute best and most honest mechanic I’ve ever had: he’s also just an all-​around great guy. There’s a reason why you’ll only see five stars for this business: he’s THAT good. Well, actually, he’s even better than that. And even better.
Chris is not just a Subaru specialist, he is a Subaru wizard. Even if I didn’t own a Subaru, I’d still bring it to him, even if I lived over 100 miles away. He will let you know what repairs can wait. The first time I went in there, I’d been told I needed to replace to axles on my car by another mechanic and new brakes. Turned out that no only did I not need a front axle, I also didn’t need new brakes.
Hmmm…
I have a 1986 Subaru Brat (sorry, not for sale) that I bought brand new and parts are very hard to find. I needed a new carburetor, but the only ones I found were not street legal. So, Chris rebuilt my carburetor. When I picked up my car and drove it off the lot, I couldn’t even hear the engine idle at the stop light. (Remember, this is a 28-​year-​old car.) I’ve had many, many mechanics over the years, and no one has even come close to doing as good a job as Chris. I wouldn’t dream of taking my Brat elsewhere.
And very, very good prices.
I can’t find enough good things to say about Chris without spending the next year on Unilocal!I trust him completely. How often do you look forward to seeing your mechanic? I do because no matter how well my car is running when I take her in, she’s going to run far better when I pick her up.

Chris is still the man! Brought my second Subie (2008 Outback) to Chris after having been out of the area for a few years. I never have to worry about him ripping me off or telling me I need repairs done that are really unnecessary. He told me I had things that would need to be done in the near future and how much time he thought I had before needing the repair.

I highly recommend this shop! Chris is awesome! He was nice enough to come to my house to check my car for an issue I had with my transmission. Luckily, I only needed a part to be replaced. It was nice to finally find an honest mechanic with fair prices. I took my car in the next day and was ready in a few hours! I’m definitely going back!

Met Chris Friday morning, nice guy, friendly and did oil change synthetic and tire rotation. I was out in 30 min. Good price too. Will be coming here from now on

After 3 mechanics who couldn’t figure out what’s wrong with my Subaru ’97 Impreza, I took to googling one other mechanic before giving up all hopes that my car would be running again.
Then I found Raffi Motors Subaru with all the awesome reviews. What would I lose if I tried, right? So I had my car towed from Santa Monica Subaru (who wanted to charge me $ 567 to fix what they «think» is wrong with my car but weren’t sure) and Chris took care of it. It was a challenge even for him who’s been fixing Subarus for four decades! He worked on my car until he found what was wrong with it (none of the other mechanics guessed it right) and even ordered a part half cheaper than what’s out there in the market! He saved me hundreds of dollars! He even allowed me to pay for the part whenever I’m able to since I was short on cash and could only pay the labor first which wasn’t even as high as dealerships charge. On top of that, he fixed other little things wrong with my car (like alarm lights and clicking noises that I’ve had for awhile) and didn’t charge me for those!
He even came out to see me on a weekend which was the only time I could pick up my car.
I am beyond grateful to Chris and will never again take my car for any repairs to anyone else but Raffi Motors. In fact, for my next car I will still get a Subaru because I have now found a trust-​worthy mechanic!
Go straight to Chris instead of wasting time and money at other shops/​mechanics! I wish somebody had given me this advise before.

My family and I have been going to Raffi Motors for as long as I can remember. I honestly can’t say enough good things about Chris and the business they run. Amazing service, honest, fair, and great at what they do. I can’t recommend them enough.

My only complaint with Chris is that he keeps my old-​ish Subaru running so well, I rarely need to use his services!
I always enjoy a trip to his shop, because I learn something new about cars each time. He’s the kind of mechanic who will show you what he’s working on, and give you options and recommendations, even if that means less money in his pocket.
The last time I went in, I was convinced I needed a brake job, so I dropped the car off, and went out for a walk to kill some time while he worked. Ten minutes later, while I’m moseying along down a sidestreet, up drives Chris — it turns out my car didn’t need brakes, so he’d hopped in his car and found me to let me know (I didn’t have a phone on me). Nice guy!
For a more complicated repair, he took the time and effort to try the simpler, less-​expensive fixes first; when it turned out I needed a somewhat pricey part, he still managed to do the job for less than half of what another mechanic had quoted me.

Chris is not only a good mechanic, this guy is awesome. He has been my mechanic for my 2001 Toyota Tacoma for a few years. He was referred to me by a good friend.
This morning my mother in law asked me… «you are going to drive up to South Bay to see your mechanic?» All I said was… «he’s good.» Good and honest! We live in Anaheim, so it is a bit of a drive.
I was there this morning, to get an oil change… in addition to the oil change, my clamp to the radiator wasn’t doing it’s job anymore, he replaced that. Oh and he found a nail in my rear-​driver-​side tire and he told me where to take it to get fixed for less than $ 10! Plain and simple, when you have a good mechanic, you might be willing to drive 30 miles to see him. Keep up the excellent service Raffi’s!
