The Restaurant at Campbell’s Field

I just go there to talk to friends, it’s ok, nothing to write home about, I call it a surprise me meal, you never know how it will be

Tried to give it another go when I found out they had breakfast and since I drove by it one morning on my way to Jasper and it was packed. I thought surely it can’t be as bad as I originally thought.
The biscuits tasted sort of like a mix although it could have been that they just use the flour with the butter pieces in it. It had the tiny specs of butter like if you were to use the kind of mix/​flour with the dehydrated butter flakes. They were large and the bottom was crispy for at least a ¼″. So when it was split in half and topped with gravy one of the pieces was like eating a crispy pizza crust.
The gravy tasted just like the packaged gravy mix.
Although I like sausageless gravy my husband was disappointed in the meatless gravy.
My eggs were HORRIBLY salty. Almost like eating yellow salt cubes. Though not scorched, they weren’t fluffy in the least.
I’m also not crazy about places that still allow smoking. This might be the reason some people like it though because I do know that smokers appreciate being able to enjoy their pre and post meal cig.
I don’t think I’ll be back as much as I’d love to support a local, small town joint.

This may be the best place around Corner, AL. The food is good the service is great. There food is homestyle cooking. It may be way of the beating path but it is great. There is a grass landing strip airport out-​front that make for dinner time surprise.
All the food is made fresh and the desserts are made the way grandma makes them. They have the best steak dinner in all of Jefferson County. Seriously they do. I encourage people to try it out. It is worth the drive out.
