The food is inconsistent. Have been three times for brunch and ordered Chilaquiles each time — first time was amazing, second time was terrible and taken off the bill, third time they were edible, but we’re not really Chilaquiles. I think Añejo’s days are numbered.

This is our favorite lunch spot. The food is consistently fresh and good. Best Mexican restaurant that I have been to. Service is consistently good! I like their vegetarian Chile relleno. My husband loves the chicken taco salad.

Good Food… the stars would be 5 if based on only the food. The service was very slow on a Friday night. The restaurant was so hot I watched people at other tables using napkins to wipe their faces.

By far this has become my favorite Mexican spot in the mountains. The staff is always friendly and the food is great, hot and fresh. Try the chicken soup! Try the chicken soup in a tortilla. I live for a bowl of their chicken soup.

I just had the tastiest, tastiest dinner at this place. I mean, really notably delicious. Given, I only tried one dish, but it was phenomenal. Enchiladas Yucatan — shrimp enchiladas with green sauce. I don’t know how something that simple can taste so good, but there you have it. And my food came super quick. And the chips and salsa were solid. I will definitely be coming back, and bringing friends.

There are a handful of Mexican restaurants in the area. My Mexican friends swear by Anejo’s authenticity, so I had to check it out. Huge portions. Moist carnitas. And the best agua de horchata. Great service, clean, and good atmosphere. They even have a points system for returning customers. Muchos gracias! Es el sabor de Mexico :)

Small town surprise that rivals any authentic Mexican anywhere else in NC. Fresh chips and salsa and a house margarita are a great opener. Enormous menu full of old favorites and new ones. Had(and LOVED) the Quesadilla Mucho Grande. Enough food to feed a family of 2 – 3 for $ 8.50! Creamy cheese, marinated chicken and juicy shrimp with refried beans and amazing guacamole(creamy with a perfect kick of garlic) on the side. Great value, wonderful food, and some sweet ambiance to boot. Highly recommended.

When this Mexican Restaurant opened it quickly replaced the one that we always visited prior. The wait staff is always very nice and the food has yet to disappoint. My favorite there is their chicken soup, but my husband has yet to find his favorite since it’s all tasty. Also, they serve a fantastic breakfast with both American and Mexican choices. The Mexican choices are by far my favorite since it’s something that I would rarely prepare for breakfast at home for my family. Worth the visit and prices are very reasonable.

Several weeks ago my wife and I decided to see if the new boy on the Mexican block was as good as or even better than my local favorite, El Alazan. The staff was friendly and attentive, but the food and management left a lot of room for improvement. My wife was relatively satisfied with her food, but I was not. I ordered Chile Verde, one of my favorite Mexican dishes. The pieces of pork were more fat than meat and had not been grilled. It was bland, fatty, and not even hot. When I asked for a hotter spicier salsa, I was told they did not have another salsa than the bland routine salsa. The enthusiastic waitress brought me two different bottles of habanero sauce. My complaints about the poor quality of the pork pieces appeared to confuse her. There was no offer to replace my dinner and no adjustment made on the bill. We will not be back. That’s alright, as we still have El Alazan.
