A great little market to get a fresh sandwich with quality fixin’s. It’s a small, but immaculate market that features a deli counter with quality local meats and cheeses from Troyers, as well as lots of locally produced goodies from chips to fry pies, as well as cookies, beverages, and other staples. There’s an ice cream counter as well. Sandwiches were $ 3.75 with choice of fresh sliced ¼ lb. of deli meat with cheese, veggies & condiments on either a sub bun or wheat bread. I had an absolutely delicious roast beef & smoked cheddar with smoky horseradish sauce on a sub bun. I resisted buying a fry pie, though now I wish I had. For those who don’t know, a fry pie is a kind of like the old Hostess Pies, filling enveloped with pie crust, fried, and then glazed, made locally, and twice as good. I was pleased to find Dare Maple Cream cookies(a personal fave), so bought those for dessert instead. And get this — the Hayesville Corn Crib is conveniently located right across the street from the Hayesville Opera House. Yes, I said opera house. I really did. I love traveling a little off the beaten path. You never know what you’ll find!

I love the corn crib! I carpool to work and we frequently stop at the corn crib! My carpool buddy gets a lot of meat and cheese, which he says is awesome, and cheap. They also have milkshakes and ice cream in the summer. However, being vegan, I don’t consume much(…or any) meat, cheese, or ice cream, so I go directly for the spices, raw sugar, whole wheat flour, extracts, oils, and semi-sweet chocolate chips. They don’t have TVP or Nutritional Yeast, but I’m working on it. :-) …they also have Cream soda! It’s the cutest little store you’ll ever go to. Stop, even if it’s just for the rootsy feeling.
