Nice concept. You get to pick the toppings that you want in your noodles and they make it for you right there. Watch the others do it, some are experts at stuffing as much as possible in to the bowl. I have tried Great Khan’s at the Great Mall as well. The food itself is OK but it is a fun experience and unique and worth trying.

This Great Khan is definitely different from the Great Khans I used to get Mongolian noodles from. I was confused by the menu here: «Entrée»(Small and Large) and«Chicken Entrée»? I was thrown off for awhile because I used to purchase a bowl size and then stuff my bowl with unlimited meat, vegetables, and noodles of my choice. The cashier told me that«Entrée» includes any kind of meat I want, whereas«chicken entrée» includes pre-marinated and cooked chicken pieces that were tossed in with my noodles. Not only was the cooking system different, the noodles tasted off and was on the sweeter extreme. It was almost as if the chef grabbed the chicken from Chinese Gourmet next door, scooped a large spoonful of Teriykai sauce on top of the noodles, and then powdered it with a pound of sugar. The tofu tasted a bit sour too, so I don’t know how long it’s been sitting out. Plus, the portion size was disappointing, but that made sense because the cashier stepped out to scoop a small bowl of noodles for me, assuming she knew how much I wanted… I would have given this place 2 stars if I’m solely judging the food quality. However, this place also lacked customer service. It was unnecessary for the cashier to decide how much noodles I wanted in my bowl. Other than that, when I saw a tiny sign that said«Extra $ 2 transaction fee for debit cards,» after I handed the cashier my credit card and wanted to confirm it with her, she gave me a really confused look and said she doesn’t know if there’s an extra charge for using credit cards. That just blew my mind. Her job is to handle the register yet she doesn’t even know what the policies are for taking credit cards. Instead, she proceeded to swiping my card 5 times, which kind of worried me because I wouldn’t know if I was charged 5 times until I look at my statement…1 star it is.

Actual Rating: 3.5 Stars I keep wanting to say Genghis Khan’s instead of Great Khan’s. Anyway, Great Khan’s Mongolian B.B.Q is a popular chain, and I’m glad that this kiosk is around(I live pretty close to the mall). I went here on Sunday(my first visit was on 12⁄15 of last year– it was at the recommendation of someone who loves the chain). Once again, my food was great, but the service I received was just average(it’s interesting that the kiosk is run by Latinos). The first time, the cashier wasn’t helpful at all. I really didn’t know what to do(most customers create their own bowl– I’ll talk more about this in a bit). I even looked lost(it should have been obvious that I had never ordered from the kiosk before). Anyway, I was happy with what I ordered, but realized that I could have done better(I deprived myself of some meat– haha). On Sunday, my cashier was more friendly, but I didn’t receive my Sprite until I(somewhat angrily) asked for it(I had ordered about 8 minutes prior). In general, she wasn’t around enough(the kiosk could be better staffed). The condiment area is to the left of the register(it’s right out front). It mainly features plastic utensils, soy sauce, napkins, and straws. This menu is somewhat helpful(lamb isn’t offered): . As another reviewer states, «pineapple and a few more other choices in terms of veggies and meat even seafood like imitation crab meat and shrimp» aren’t offered here either. I believe I saw some pineapple pieces on Sunday. I forgot to take a closer look, though(the woman in front of me was in my way for awhile– it’s like she ordered for an army). Garlic might be added to the food(I’m not totally sure). Unless you say no, «sweet teriyaki sauce» will be added. It will make your food kind of hot(spicy), but it’s so good(I also add some soy sauce to my food). The cooks work hard and are friendly. I can’t really say that they’re quick, though. It’s great that your food will be hot and fresh, but I’m not a very patient person(I had to wait 10 minutes for my food on Sunday– expect to wait at least 5 minutes if you’re the only customer). It’s largely because of the wait that I haven’t ordered from here more often(I kill some time by talking to my wife– she always orders from other kiosks). Note: All prices include tax. Large Drink: $ 1.80. I think there are 6 fountain machine selections. There are some other drinks to choose from too(they’re kept in ice). Mongolian Beef(about $ 8): 8⁄10. My bowl featured a fair amount of vegetables(too many for my taste), and I really liked my pieces of beef. I can’t say that my noodles were memorable, as I’m tempted to say that I was actually given some rice(I’m getting old– my memory is usually sharper). Large Bowl($ 10.85): 8.5÷10. Another reviewer says that you can’t «smash the meat down and vegetables» like before. I was wondering about this, but my bowl was overflowing with meat, and nothing was said(I didn’t even try to smash things down). Your food will shrink a little on the grill, and so I understand why some customers want to load their bowls up. My noodles were very solid, and I was given a good portion. My pieces of chicken were meaty, but not very tasty. My pieces of pork were fatty, but good. My pieces of beef stood out too. I’m glad that I loaded up on meat. I had to finish my food at home. I left the mall feeling like I was going to give birth. The cashiers could be better, but the food here is truly worth ordering. I look forward to my next visit.

Located in the Southland food court, you just fill up your bowl with meat and veggies, pour the sauce you pick on, they’ll give you the noodles, and watch them cook it up. Seems very healthy. Next time, I’ll put on more veggies because they shrink in size when cooked. It came out a bit salty for me, and the price is a bit high too. Good break from the regular lunch stuff.

0 stars. Very rude workers at this SouthLand Mall. I am not referring this restaurant in the food court to anyone I know. I am no longer visiting this negative area.

My complaint is not the food. I like it good enough. Being vegeterian, I always go for just the vegetables, never the meat. And it always taste good. But their portion sizes have changed and cost have changed. Medium bowl, and large. Fair enough. i understand. What I don’t get is not giving you a cup of water with your meal. A CUPOFWATER!!! The employee said she could give me a tiny cup of water,(The size of a dixie cup, about 2 tablespoons I think) but not a small cup of water. I couldn’t believe it. Then I find out the owner is standing next to her and never said a word. He just smiled. Why didn’t I just walk away from the restaurant and said I’ll buy somewhere else that will give me a cup of water with my paid meal? I find this rather insulting!

Disappointment! Came here yesterday to buy lunch after work, this place had became so CHEAP ! There’s 2 bowl, a medium and a large(looks more like a small and medium) and they’re like almost 2 bucks different. So I just got the«large» bowl only and my total was 10.28! Also, to make it worse, they don’t let us smash he meat down and vegetables like they use to. Hella cheap ! Never going there ever. I’m just gonna stick to hill top mall’s great Khan. Btw, the cashier seem like she had no idea how to ring up. maybe she need more training.

Avoid this location. Employees are not mindful of a health safe environment by spraying windex over open uncovered food. This can be a major health issue. I address it to them thinking they just wasnt thinking but they didn’t take me seriously. My last visit!

I love going to Great Khan’s and having the challenge of trying to put as many food stuffs in my bowl whatever size it may be. It’s like Tetris but with meat, noodles and vegetables. It’s fun as well watching them cook what you selected, and the food also taste great!

Great Khan’s is a chain of noodle grillin houses that you customize your dish from a nice selection of vegetables and meat. After placing the desired veggie n meat or tofu on your bowl you hand it to the griller and they place your contents on a large heated circular device to cook. At the end of the cooking and marinating of your vegimeats they add the noodles. the secret lies in the noodles and condiments placed on the dish. Noodles are usually firm and delightful. Really a great meal since you pick the condiments.

I really love Great Khan’s! I just adore the entire concept of getting your own meat and veggies, then they put sauce/garlic and noodles on top then they cook it on the huge grill in front of you and it’s like magic! BTW(The only reason I’m giving it 4 and not 5 stars is because out of all of the 3 or 4 other locations I’ve been to, they all have pineapple and a few more other choices in terms of veggies and meat even seafood like imitation crab meat and shrimp but this one doesn’t! Still yummy though especially with that(OPTIONAL) sweet teriyaki sauce!

Love this place!!! You make your own meal and they cook it with steam right in front of you. It’s quick and delicious and a lot of food for a small amount of money!

I’ve always liked the one at Valley Fair, but it’s way too far for me to drive when I’m craving this stuff. So when I heard there’s one in Southland, which is 10 minutes away, great! Friendly staff that doesn’t mind you pushing the curled up frozen meat down into your bowl. Lacks variety of veggies, but has the essentials. They load your noodles onto your bowl and they do not skimp! Thank you!!! 3 heaping scoops of noodles. They tend to undercook the noodles though. A few suggestions to the manager: Add pineapple to the selection Cook noodles more Add lamb to meat selection

I usually order the entrée which includes chow mein noodles and your choice of meats, fresh veggies and sauce combinations. Once you choose your meats, veggies and sauce they cook it on a large Mongolian-style bbq grill while you watch. They give you SO much food that I always make two meals out of mine. Great to eat there in the mall’s food court or take it to go and the staff is friendly.

Maybe Ava A. and I ate at two different places both called Great Khan’s, maybe the cooks changed, or maybe I just don’t know how to work the Great Khan system, because there’s no way my meal could have remotely been mistaken for a 5 star worthy experience. What made it even more depressing was that this was my first meal of 2009– I’m really hoping that its not going to be indicative of what my year in dining is going to be like. I will say that the service is friendly and helpful– the countergirl showed me how to make the most of the bowl they give you by smashing down your frozen meats(very thinly sliced beef, chicken, or pork) with a napkin. Not exactly the classiest way to dine, but I guess it gives you more room to add the veggies, which actually ended up being the best part of the meal. You get your choice of sliced onions, zucchini, carrots, broccoli, cabbage, mushrooms, water chestnuts, or baby corn. At the very end, you can add some egg noodles as well as a choice of condiments(garlic, hot sauce, etc.). 1 star because the beef was sliced with the grain(you end up eating what amounts to beef jerky and lets not even talk about the serious flossing you’ll have to do afterwards to get all that beef fiber out from between your teeth) and because the«teriyaki» sauce they add to your meal was cloyingly sweet(and therefore quite gross). For the love of God and your dental hygiene, stick to eating the chicken and pork, along with lots of the veggies, which were fresh and perfectly cooked. I appreciate the DIY aspect of the meal and the fact that everything is cooked quickly in front of you, but that’s still not going to save Great Khan’s from my 1 star review.

Oh my goodness, where do I begin? I ordered the Entrée which includes chowmein noodles. &the beauty of it? you can add as MUCH of meat/vegetables/produce as you want!!! Then they put sauces of your choice on it. Then, you get it bbq’d. It can be a bit of a wait, but I promise you… it’s all worth the wait! It is soooooo good! [: Loveit.
