This place is really strange. They have Mexican, American and Asian food. The burritos are pretty average, but large. I would recommend going a few doors over to Los Cocos for Mexican or next door to Thai Chili for Asian.

This place is great. There were three of us that went for dinner and we all loved it. Its just a comfortable place with great affordable food. We had the lettuce wraps, sonoran hot dog, cat fish, and fried wontons. Everything was very tasty. We used to get sonoran hot dogs in college, but these were the best I’ve had. I’ve never had cat fish before, but loved it and would definately get it again. There are so many items on the menu I would like to try. I will definately be back. If you’re looking for great food at a good price I recommend Grubbys.

I agree with the other reviews for the overall appearance, The place was clean and much better than the other place it used to be. The Menu was lacking, for this place to advertise that«We have it all» is not accurate. The fish and chips was the same fish I can get in the frozen section at Food Source. The carne asada quesadilla was okay. Simple but good. However, the crab wontons were extremely greasy. My friend had the teriyaki bowl. It wasn’t in an actual bowl, but that is neither here nor there. However, the quality of chicken was not great and the teriyaki sauce tasted canned and very sweet. It covered all of the rice in the bottom of the dish. Horrible. Both my friend and I felt sick only an hour after our experience at Grubby’s. While the hostess and chef’s were very hospitable, the limited menu, frozen fish patties, greasy wontons and super sweet teriyaki left little to be desired. Grubby’s GR8PL8 was not so great and the price wasn’t too fab either. I probably won’t be dining at Grubbys, But I gave it a shot. Good luck

Greetings! It’s been awhile since any reviews from me — so I’m a little rusty! Grubby’s is wonderful! The owner/chef Jalin, and hostess Isabelle are so warm and welcoming. This review could last for PAGES and PAGES but let me just say that everything my daughters and I have tried on Jalin’s menu was absolutely wonderful. I agree with Penrod, the coleslaw is superb! Must try’s are the burritos(his breakfast burritos are fabulous!) carne asada quesadilla, the egg rolls, the crab stuffed wontons, chicken teriyaki, barbeque pork, salt and pepper prawns… well, suffice it to say, try everything! Jalin is a trained chef out of the CIA in New York and is a young personable guy. Come on down to my neck of the woods and stop by Grubby’s — you’ll be glad you did. Margie N.

EDIT: 5÷01÷2008CLOSED Grubbys used to be Jonathons Fish & Chips but has since been bought and remodeled and upgraded. I want for this place to be successful very much because they have everything I like to eat. Tonight for my first visit I went with a seafood combo consisting of 2 fish pieces and 7 shrimp and a side of coleslaw. Lose the fish patty supplier Grubby… the shrimp tasted fantastic but the fish is some processed perfect geometric squares of heavy breading that completely overpowers any taste of the fish. The coleslaw side comes in a large serving. Twice the amount I have ever seen served. At first I was a little disappointed in the coleslaw from the visual just because it looked very dry but upon tasting it they have a very nice sweet and tangy dressing that is nearly invisible but nicely flavored. It’s got fresh cabbage nicely thin sliced carrots and nice sweet thin sliced red onion and shallots in it. I asked a nice gentleman who was dining inside watching one of the 2 flat screen televisions how his burrito was and he said it tasted great and it certainly looked very good. The menu has standard Fish and Chip meals as well as scallops. Then it has a mini Mexican menu with burritos and quesadillas (even a tasty sounding veggie burrito) THEN it has a mini Asian persuasion menu with some interesting options such as Philly crab shack won-tons and Salt and Pepper Wei Tang Prawns. I’ll update later when I go back and try something new. The complimentary Chips and salsa was a nice touch while I was waiting for my order and I think they make their tortilla chips in house because they were very good. Interior is really clean and eclectic with lots of stuff to look around at. I. m closer to 3.5 stars but for the overall price(which is really reasonable: 15 piece shrimp or scallops w/fries and sauces is under 15 bucks and the shrimp are large, fan-tailed, and tasty) service, attitude, and décor this could really be a great place to get your«Grubby» on. ATM/debit accepted and more parking in the rear of the building.
