Although Shapes Brow Bar did a decent job on my eyebrows the one time I went, the experience was more painful than the times I’ve gone to Threads Beauty Bar in Dublin and other threading locations in the area. It was also uncomfortable because it is a kiosk in the middle of the mall, and people walking by stare, and even sometimes crowd around to see how it’s done. It’s a little embarrassing to be made a spectacle right smack in the middle of Southland Mall, getting your eyebrows groomed. Shapes Brow Bar is alright, but I would recommend going to Threads Beauty Bar instead if you don’t mind making the trek out there — it is better staffed, the quality of service is better, it is more private, and the ambience is much nicer.

These ladies do good work. Sure, it’s in the middle of the mall, but if you think about it, it’s not nearly as weird as those awful massage stations where you have some person massaging you while you straddle a chair face down, unaware that your ass crack is hanging out for all to admire. Yeah, not cute. At least getting threaded, you get a nice chair that tilts back and pulsing techno music, holla! Only complaint is that my girl threaded my brows a tad thinner, just a tad, than I would have liked, but that’s also my fault for assuming that just because she and the other threader had full, thick brows that I would turn out the same. I’m sure I didn’t have terribly much to work with. Next time I go, I’d preface the transaction by stating specifically that I’d prefer my brows a little more beefy(haha, Josh) — but I would go back again! It’s two minutes from my house, they do good work, the price is right, and overall, I am pretty satisfied. $ 10 for eyebrows.

There is no way this idea should work. Getting threaded in the middle of Southland mall, doesn’t sound hygienic, people looking at you. I was in a bind before my friends wedding. I hit the mall to get an outfit and said to hell with it, I can’t do it, might as well take my chances. Thank goodness, I walked out with a set of very nice looking eyebrows. It hurt like a beyotch, cause I haven’t had them done in forever. Decent price, convenient location, it’s a win win.

I’m a regular here. And yes, as Amy H. says, it is really weird getting threaded right smack in the middle of the mall. I’d never had my eyebrows messed with prior to getting threaded at Shapes… like ever. Not even plucking, nada, zilch. Painful is the threading? Well yes, for me it is, but I’m sure that compared to waxing or plucking hair by hair, that would be much more painful in comparison. Threading takes less than 10 minutes, and you’ll be just fine. For $ 10, it’s not bad…

Okay, so getting threaded in the middle of the mall is a tad weird. I’ve been going to Riya’s in Berkeley for years, which I love, but I wanted to find somewhere at a more convenient location. Anyway, she did a great job here~ it was more meticulous than in Berkeley, still quick, and affordable!($ 10)
