It's not the same as before.
The prices on specials have increased and service decreased. Former loyal patron.

If you want delicious greasy(in a good way) food, this is your place. I’ve had mozzarella sticks and grilled cheeses from here and although those are hard to mess up, both were unbelievably good. Although I’ve never had a burger from here(vegetarian) everyone I know loves them.

Love this place. This is the best place I’ve had sliders at. Especially good after a couple beers. Always quick and ingredients seem decently fresh.

Great food, terrible customer service. If you wish to deal with pleasant people and positive attitudes do NOT go here. Food is good but I rather go a couple more miles to other places like teleway, lil bros, or hunter house.

I tried Brayz for the first time today, and unfortunately I can’t say I’m a fan. Compared to the Telway I had a couple months ago, this didn’t taste as good and it was more expensive. The hamburger meat is cooked in such a way that the outside is kind of tough. When you bite into it, you immediately notice it takes more effort than any other hamburger. Also not a big fan of the onions… they are pretty crunchy because they haven’t been cooked too much, and they also have a pretty strong taste. Less greasy than most sliders, which sadly is about all the burger has going for it. The fries were great… but I can get good fries pretty much anywhere. Two cheeseburgers and a large fry ran me $ 5.50… at this price, for the quality I got, I feel a little taken. Next time, I’ll drive the extra few miles to Telway.

This place use to be good years ago, I’m talking like 20 years ago. Stopped by to get the belly buster, wow what a disappointment. I wouldn’t feed this slop to a pig. Had an awful taste, the meat was nasty, everything about this place was garbage. If you want good sliders Tel-Way or Hunter House not this sh*t hole. I’m never this harsh but this dump earned it.

I was a bit underwhelmed by this slider joint. Don’t let the sign that says burger confuse you, they serve sliders. I think for what you pay you don’t get as much from day telway out Hunter house. The onions were over chief and tasted a bit burnt. We had to ask for our drink half way thru our meal because they had forgotten it. So yeah, not bad but don’t get your hopes up.

Your first thought when passing by is, «wow, they have a donkey on their roof. They must not take things seriously». But let me tell you, they take their food seriously. As soon as you walk in, you are greeted with a small dining room(around 15 stools), which is pretty standard in a place like this. On most days, there will be stools open, as the locals get take out. The menu is pretty standard, with staples such as hamburgers, cheeseburgers, fries, onion rings, and coneys. It’s a tad bit more expensive than Telway, but not as expensive as Hunter’s House. Still, it is very reasonable. They have specials on Monday($ 2.50 Belly Busters), Tuesday(99¢ coneys), and Wednesday(99¢ hamburgers/cheeseburgers). The food itself was very good. The hamburgers were cooked just right and blended well with the onions. The fries were cooked just right — not burned, yet not undercooked. And you get quite a lot for a large. And then, when you thought this place couldn’t get any better, they have an electronic jukebox and a Galaga/Ms. Pacman game in the corner. This scores major points in my book because there aren’t many places still around like this. They don’t have a set method on how to pay, even with the sign that says«please pay when served». Nonetheless, it was a great meal. Believe me, I’ll be back soon.

I hate incompetent people I went in here on a Friday night and my girlfriend tried to order chili cheese fries with chili and cheese on the side because she doesn’t like them soggy and the waiter demanded that I buy a bowl of chili in a bowl of cheese because that’s how they do it they can put it on the side so basically I walked out and I’m on my way to Travis Burger where they’ll put my chili and cheese on the side. So after many many years eating at Brays burgers I think I’m about done today.

For my money this is the best slider joint in this neck of the woods. I’ve always thought of the Telway on Michigan Ave. as THEE Telway, and as such was never sold on the«Bizarro Telway» on 11 Mile and John R., even though at least 2 Telways are necessary to make it a «Hamburger System». But Bray’s has it donkey head and shoulders over Bizarro Telway in every category, and probably tops the Real Telway in everything but ambience, as the local freakshow down in Southwest is definitely wilder than what you’ll see here. Even less teeth and an even seedier hood. The food here is less greasy the THS, and they actually make a damn good breakfast even if you can’t always get it at night. I was even so bold as to try to order a milkshake on one of my three visits, only to be told the shake machine was down. Somehow I wasn’t too surprised or disappointed. I did have a sudden hankering for a banana shake a la Checkers, but it did seem to be too good to be true and it was. They also had Pineapple listed as a shake flavor, which I found strange. One odd fact about me is I HATE anything pineapple. But that’s neither here nor there. They have an ATM by the front door and it’s too bad it only dispenses cash in increments of $ 20 as you can eat here for considerably less than that. There’s a Ms. Pacman/Galaga game — huge cool points from me, even if I don’t play it every time. I just love knowing it’s there. They also have a jukebox, something lacking at the Telways. It’s one of those expensive digital ones, which is a bit of a bummer. One of those old ones with the flapping plastic pages with CD covers and song listings attach somehow seems better suited to Bray’s, but whatever. My last time there I played«Green Onions» by Booker T and the MGs and the cook kept going on about how it was a Viagra ad, like it wasn’t a hit song on R&B stations and then oldies for 40 years before that. It was kind of annoying. Bray’s onion rings are really good. Still haven’t tried their coffee. Telway is so coffee proud, I’m guessing they really can’t mess with it at Bray’s. One last thing — you’ll note I’m calling it Bray’s. Truth be told, I never set foot in this place before they switched to the post-apostrophe Z. But when I saw others writing their reviews with the S, I knew I had to as well. Fuck that Z! It’s the prophecy of the movie Idiocracy beginning to unfold. It’s stupid and irksome, and if the owner of Bray’S is reading this, please come to your senses and change the name back. You’ve got that whole classic white box slider joint thing going; why do you have to throw that damn Z in the mix. It’s some wack New Coke shit. Seriously, I could give a one-star review to Zazz gas station just for the name alone.

This place is just like the telway at 11 mile and John R, but the food is 100x better! It’s farther from my home, but I definitely prefer it. The style of this place and The Telway is so awesome and unique. Every metro Detroiter should go here at least once.

Way better than telway. Food is great and they’re open all the time which makes for a great place to grab some really good food in the middle of the night when no where else is open. The only problem is that they’re cash only.

A classic since the 50’s. No tables, just diner-style stools at the counter. Carry-out is a walk-up window with a separate entrance than dining in. Food is made to order and slightly bigger than the average slider, with half the grease! definitely order two hamburgers and fries to start, or just one belly-buster. The owners are real sociable and kind. They operate a clean, tasty establishment. Mr. Brayz would be proud.

worth trying! i liked this place okay, but maybe i just really really like telway and can’t help comparing the two. their burgers are pretty good, but not as greezy. like, where’s the butter soaking through my bun? i’m all about the greeze when it comes to these slider joints. no big deal though, still a really solid meal, especially the day i went and they were only a dollar each. the coney was good and so were the fries. the people working here are nice and there’s definitely a lot more room here than at telway(at least the detroit one — haven’t been to the other). and your clothes won’t have as heavy of the greasy diner smell here, so that’s a plus. i also got to try a strawberry milkshake here, which i don’t recommend. i want to come back and try the breakfast! for some reason, it looked really compelling on that menu board.

At the corner of 9 mile and Dequinder you will find a no frills greasy hamburger joint that serves sliders for each $ 1.49. Expect to see Eminem look a likes at this 1960’s style diner open 24 hours a day. If this is what you are looking for — give it a try! I admire it’s history in the area for years. Lots of local loyal customers, that has to give it some credit.

Pretty standard white box fare. They’re on par with the area’s Telway and Hawg & Dawg in Ferndale. The fries were crinkly and crispy and the sliders were pretty good if not a little tough. Their coney is pretty standard too but a little better than Hawg & Dawg’s in my opinion. Service was fast and friendly.

Today I had lunch at Brays for the first time in 35 years. I used to have lunch there often when I worked just down the street. Thank goodness nothing had changed! If I owned a restaurant or bar I would want my signature burger to be the Belly Buster. Fresh meat, fresh toppings… simple stuff, but the best.

In the Northeast Suburban battle of who has the best slider… Brayz or Telway… I give my vote to Brayz. Hands down. The trick is in the way they slightly burn their onions. It truly makes the slider. And it’s hard to beat when they are $ 0.99 on Wednesdays. The $ 0.99 coneys on Tuesdays are also a good value, if you’re into that sort of thing. In fact, my wife and I like the chili from their coneys so much that we have been known to stop at Brayz for nothing but a big bowl of their beanless chili. They put a ton of cumin in it and it is very yummy, especially with mustard and oyster crackers(supplied). The other must-order at Brayz is their onion rings. Skip the fries(exception being chili-fries) and get the onion rings. They are fantastic. Crispy, flavorful, and fairly thin but with just the right amount of batter. I don’t often stray from the above items, but I’ve had a passable breakfast there and have enjoyed the various other burgers(Belly Buster, Blimp, Etc). But you really can’t go wrong with the standard slider. Make it a double if you’re feeling adventurous. As for experience, Brayz is certainly that and then some. It’s a total dive in a rather sketchy neighborhood. Open 24 hours, cash only, crusty clientele, and service is gruff but efficient. One time I swear I saw the cook hitting a crack-pipe back in the kitchen when he thought nobody was watching… and he probably was… but the food was still tasty and that sort of thing really just adds to the charm.

Brayz is great. It is just your average coney/burger joint with the exception of their Bellybuster burger. If they accepted debit/credit cards I would eat there a lot more often. The prices are cheap and have been cheap as long as I remember and the chili is among my favorite. Seriously needs to start accepting cards. I haven’t carried cash in years and I hate having to stop off at the bank or ATM anytime I have a craving.
