The daughter of one of the four friends who started this winery was pouring and telling stories. I enjoyed hearing the histories that made these award wining wines come to life.

Me and the wife went to J. Keverson for a special day, the owners did the wine and food pairing, and romanced us about the wine they were pouring, They are good wine folks who know they wine. oh and the wine there is good! I would go back again. nothing but good times there.

J. Keverson Winery did a private tasting at The Inn at Union Square in San Francisco last week Wednesday, February 8th. I was lucky enough to attend this tasting event, and absolutely loved it! J. Keverson is a small production winery with a tasting room in Healdsburg, CA. I am an avid wine drinker, and have experienced my fare-share of small, mid-sized and large scale wineries and tasting rooms. I can honestly say I love supporting the smaller, boutique wineries like J. Keverson — who put their heart and soul into their work, their wine and their customers. Scotty, one of the owners/partners of J. Keverson, did the pouring for the guests. He was an excellent host, introducing and explaining each wine we tried. Aside from his own wine, Scotty also gave the guests an educational background and informative facts about red and white wine, harvesting, and wine growing regions of Northern California. This made for a very enjoyable, educational and interesting wine tasting event. After tasting four of J. Keverson’s wines, I can officially say I thoroughly enjoyed each and every one I tried! Here’s what I tasted, and a little bit on each… –2008 Chardonnay(Sonoma Coast, Sangiacamo Family Vineyard) I am not much of a Chardonnay drinker, but I have to say this was one of the best I’ve had. It was very crisp and refreshing. I’d definitely recommend this to the Char drinkers out there — you’ll love it — as many in our tasting did! –2007 Sangiovese(Mendocino) Again, I am not much of a Sangiovese drinker, but I really enjoyed this particular one as it was very memorable. Their 2007 Sangiovese is also holding the 2011 San Francisco Chronicle Gold Medal award! –2009 Starkey’s Court Zinfandel(Russian River Valley) I love Zins, and I loved Starkey’s Court Zin. This particular zin was smooth and full bodied, simply excellent. –2008 Cabernet Sauvignon(Dry Creek Valley) This was my second favorite after the Zin. J. Keverson’s Cab is boasting the 2011 Harvest Fair Best of Class Medal with 91 points. It was full of aroma and very smooth. Perfect to pair with dinner! While I have not been to J. Keverson’s tasting room or winery myself, I did have the wonderful opportunity to meet and drink with one of the owners(how often does that happen?!) and taste a variety of their fine wine. I will definitely buy from J. Keverson in the near future and will also be sure to stop by their tasting room the next time I pass through Healdsburg! Thanks again, Scotty!
