Got here at 9am on a Friday and bought the last two donuts of the day. The lady said this was the first day she had sold out this week, so not sure what the trends are for that. They were delicious cake donuts! Wish I could of bought more! No beverages for sale, but can go next door to the gas station for some OJ.

My family group of 9 was staying in Lake Geneva and instead of a full breakfast, we just wanted some donuts, Milk, OJ, and coffee to start our day. There appear to be NO donut shops in Lake Geneva so I ventured out back across the WI/IL border to the small town of Hebron, thanks in part to the previous review here. What I found was Americana… a small old building with a simple sign in teh window that said«donut shop». Inside were 3 or 4 tables filled with people enjoying donuts, coffee, and conversation. There was a small display case with an assortment of cake donuts, an old cash register, and a friendly lady behind the counter. The donuts looked good, and I upped my order from 12 to 18. After I paid, one tof the guys waved and I think they wouldn’t have minded if I had sat down with them. The donuts were ever so slightly warm and I couldn’t help but sample one on the drive back to the hotel. Yes, I got the milk/coffee, and OJ for everyone, but the donuts were the stars and were enjoyed by all. Well, except for me… the real star for me was the experience of the journey in getting them!

If you enjoy a cake donut you have to stop by the Donut Shop, In Hebron, Illinois. It’s west of Richmond Illinois and the first town as you enter Illinois if coming from Lake Geneva off of Rt. 47 entering Illinois on the S/E corner of Rt. s 173&47 on the east side of the road next to the Gas Station on the corner. The owner Jean makes the best donut you will ever taste. I have gotten donuts there at 06:30AM. Later that day for a snack after dinner they are still as fresh as when I have gotten them. It is worth the drive. Stop in and get a donut(or 2, or 3, etc. and a cup of coffee. It is an early stop, she closes at 11am. Get there early once the donuts are sold out for the day, that may be it. You can call and have her save on if you are on the way.
