Just wanted to say… I haven’t actually been to the winery, but if you like ice wines the Standing Stone Vineyards Gewürztraminer Ice wine is one of the finest I have ever tasted — especially at that price point. Try it — it is amazing!

Excellent service by Ann. One of my favorite wineries in the area. Can’t go wrong with their wines

Anya guided us through s fantastic tasting. She was kind and you could tell she was passionate about what she is doing! The winery provided olive bread — a nice touch. I also LOVED the Finger Lake cheese plate option. Their Saperavi was divine. The wines were good and I loved the feminist appreciation in their wine branding. This is what you want when you come to a wine tasting.

Who wears white to a Saperavi tasting?! Hehe, apparently I do. It’s the darkest and most pigmented red wine I’ve ever seen. Here at the Standing Stone Vineyard, I was able to taste straight from the oak barrels while getting a lesson on the process. Then in the tasting room, I tried a few more wines with the most gooey local(Kenton) Brie, ever. It was at this winery that I learned that I have a palate for Gerwurztraminer. It has a really nice floral scent and pairs really well with spicy foods. This wine knows me so well.

*Pasta & Wine Weekend 2015 Review* Pumpkin Ravioli with Sage Butter Good food and better wine. I can always count on Standing Stone to bring it. So charming and proclaimed as «old fashioned», the tasting room is quite long and spacious with an additional tasting area at the end that overlooks the vineyard and lake. Their wine and visitor shop is smaller, but I rather be able to enjoy my tasting comfortably than rubbing and bumping elbows with strangers. And spillage of the sweet nectar of life is sacrilege. They have some of the cleanest and crisp white wines of the region. There is something to be said for this quality. I went home with the North Block Riesling 2013. And now that I am writing this review I am kicking myself in the rear for not picking up their 2012 Petit Verdot and 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon. I am creepily eyeing you while whispering«sooooooon»…

Excellent Saperavi and Riesling. Friendly staff and great fun to stop by. Already planning my next case of wine.

This was one of the smaller wineries we visited on Seneca Lake. It was a little busy. Tastings were cheap. Our wine consultant was very friendly and witty. We ended up purchasing a Riesling. The winery could use a little TLC, but not a bad stop.

The gentleman who poured us wine had diabetes. The glassware had dishwashing spots all over it. This appeared to be a college tour destination. Nice view. Four tastings for $ 6.00.

We had so much fun here. Ann, who did our tasting, was hilarious. The tasting was $ 3, and they give you a $ 3 coupon towards the purchase of a bottle, which was nice. Loved the Reisling Ice wine, but I like sweater wines. Definitely worth the visit!

The server was great and informative, but I found the wines dull and lacking anything memorable.

Without a doubt, Standing Stone Vineyards is one of my favorite wineries in the Finger Lakes. Besides the GREAT wines, they are poured by happy-smiling folks, who take great pride in what they do. My favorites are«The Dark Red», «Chardonnays», and the«dessert wines.» MAKESURE that you try all their ice wines, you’ll be glad that you did. There was so much to choose from and we really enjoyed them all. Marti, the owner and winemaker was pouring wine when we were there and conveyed just how much pride they take in their business. The location(as all locations in the Finger Lakes) is outstanding and you really want to sit in one of their picnic tables, over looking the lake, drink wine, eat cheese(that they have a nice supply of) and relax to enjoy the«Winery Experience.» Kudos to you all for making my visit special.

Wines were good, staff unique in their sense of humor and energy level. She really took the time to relate to our group, one new retiree, one bachelorette, one birthday with stories, jokes and song. They have a nice variety of local saucy things to sample on wonderful olive bread.

This was my least favorite winery out of the 5 I visited on Seneca Lake. Upon walking up to the front door I experienced quite possibly the worst smell I have ever experienced. I’m not sure if i was fertilizer or rotting flesh, but it was bad. I’m hoping this was just a one off for Standing Stone. Regardless, we still entered the winery to find a small room with two long tables set up for wine tastings. The tastings cost $ 3 each and since we were kind of still sickened by the smell outside, we opted for just one tasting to split. The nice British woman who served us our tasting was friendly and helpful, but because the place was so crowded, it was a little chaotic and hard to hear the descriptions of what we were tasting. The wines here at Standing Stone were the most expensive of the wineries we visited on Seneca lake. However, with your wine tasting you received a discount on a wine purchase in the amount of whatever you paid for the wine tasting, so that was helpful. Also, at the tasting they had samples of buffalo cheddar cheese, which was a nice touch. We actually bought two of their red wines, the 2008 Merlot and the 2009 Pinnacle. Maybe when I open the bottles and taste them I’ll have a better opinion, but right now Standing Stone left me feeling meh.

Phenomenal ice wines! It was difficult to narrow it down and choose which one I would take home with me! There’s a few choices in terms of tastings: We went with the $ 3 tasting where you could choose 6 from their red, white and dessert wines. Afterward, they give you a credit for the price of your tasting if you decide to buy something. Awesome deal! They also had this amazing horseradish cheese(horseradish + wasabi) that I could not get enough of between tastings. Yummers!

I live in California’s Wine Country and I order Standing Stone’s several Ice Wine varieties by the case. We don’t get Ice Wine varieties«out here» because our grapes are never exposed to the necessary frost here in Central/Northern California along the coast. Their Gewürztraminer Ice, Chardonnay Ice and Riesling Ice are all wonderful and individually special so I have cases of all 3 at all times. My husband, the non-drinker, built me a 3-bottle wooden wine stand in the fridge so I will always have a chilled bottle of each waiting for me. In private moments I fantasize about this fruity-syrupy lover when my husband is working nights or out-of-town. If you love desert wines do yourself A BIG favor and treat yourself to Standing Stone’s Ice Wines. My massage therapist, a former California wine snob, calls the Gewurtz Ice«a boquet of the most beautiful flowers in a bottle.» She does not exaggerate. Some months the Gewurtz is my favorite, some months it’s the Chard and some months it’s the Riesling. I couldn’t do without all 3. If you are going to visit… oh the fall Colors on Lake Seneca around October 10−15…they are breathlessly beautiful. I try to plan a visit to my aunt’s home in Watkins Glen at that time so I can restock under the foliage. This year a family illness will prevent a visit but I just ordered 6 cases shipping by Fedex this week. It is well worth the shipping cost just to get this amazing wine in my California home. ENJOY!

Surprised by this winery specializing in dry wines in a region known for its sweet options. The setting is quite rustic, but the staff is pleasant and willing to share as much detail about the wine and region as you’d like. Highly recommend their steel-fermented Chardonnays and the Smokehouse Red(great everyday red.)

Enjoyed the rustic, honest setting. Came from Lamoreaux with bad taste in our mouths(literally) and this was a nice relief. Service was friendly, and nice local cheese to sample with the wine.

My buddy and I went to Standing Stone on 9⁄25 since I read about their ‘barrel tour’ online at their website. I called ahead to ensure they could accommodate us but the friendly person(Brandon) on the line indicated that they may be short-handed today. He called back 2 minutes later with the great news that the owner Marti would give us a tour! We arrived 45 minutes later, Marti introduced herself to us and the tour began as 2 stragglers jumped onto our tour as well. Marti is an energetic person, very unlike the usual pompous vintner’s that I’ve met at other wineries around our country. She took us out into to vineyards, tasted grapes from the vines and then proceeded into the storage facility where she provided each of us with a few barrel tastings. I can tell you that the 2007 yield tasted fantastic from the barrel — these should be keepers! After the barrel tasting, we went into the tasting room and Marti us every wine available, not just the usual choice of a few off the list. The $ 10 spent for the 45 minute barrel tour was well invested since we probably tried about 12 wines and had a very enthusiastic and great guide. Take time out from your trip to the Finger Lakes and stop in here. I know it sounds like I’m an employee or family member of this winery with this glowing review, but I’m not as you can see from the logicality of my other reviews.

We enjoyed our brief visit here. Their tasting room is just interesting as their wines– surprisingly understated and airy, with down-to-earth hints of a summer patio crossed with an in-the-rough East Coast clam shack. We spoke with an employee named Brian, who explained much without being patronizing or bored with the endless stream of tourists. We sampled their 2005 Reserve Chardonnay which had a lot more texture than I’d expected, and ended up leaving with a dessert wine: their 2006 Cailloux. Tasty!
