I don’t usually leave reviews but this place is great! The carne asada tacos are tender and filled with beans, guacamole and Pico. The owner/cook is a very nice man who cares a lot about his food and business. Come in and try his food, you won’t be dissapointed!

We were feeling homesick and really wanted some good Mexican food. A friend at work suggested I swing by and I am glad we did! The service is excellent, the restaurant is comfortable, and the food was fantastic! No good Mexican meal is complete without a Jaritos and Louie’s has all the best flavors. Everything is fresh, beautiful and delicious. The price is fair, but the food sure doesn’t taste cheap. I was impressed with every aspect of my meal. I had the crane asana burrito and it was just the right size. Not too big or small. It had a nice, mellow heat(spice) and the meat was tender and delicious. My husband had the ground beef burrito and he is a tough customer. He said he really enjoyed it, and that is high praise. We were so impressed with my son’s chicken taco that we brought 4 tacos(chicken and pork) home. The chicken was moist, delicious and there was a generous amount of at in everything. I think we found our new favorite, we will definitely be back!

Just discovered Louie’s…the Grilled Chicken tacos we had were very good… nice flavor but I’d like to try the regular chicken tacos and see if they are seasoned more. On a negative note, I also had a bacon-wrapped hotdog; and although the hotdog tasted good it surely wasn’t a bacon-wrapped dog. Bacon-wrapped dogs are usually deep-fried; but this dog was sliced down the middle and splayed in the bun(not sure how it was cooked) and it had rather bland tasting bacon bits sprinkled on top. Not what I was expecting and I probably wouldn’t order it again…

This guy is over worked and understaffed. Not a happy dude, very negative atmosphere, berating and swearing under his breath at customers. Food + cost+attitude =never go back!

The wife and I went to Louie’s and I have to say, we have a new spot to eat at! It’s a small hole-in-the-wall and we loved it! I had the spicy polish bacon wrapped dog and beef taco on flour shell. The dog was great, so fresh, hand made, yummy! The taco was super full, lots of flavor… I would probably do another meat but it was still very good. My wife had the same except a non-spicy dog and she enjoyed both, for her she would ask for more sour cream on the taco because she can’t handle the heat. Louie was very friendly. Food coming out was a little slower, but considering it really is made to order I will give up a few minutes ANY day. Only thing I wish it had was fountain drinks, you have options of can or bottle.(I drink to much with my meals) So moral of the story is go here! Yummy!

THEFOODISGREAT. I had a veggie burrito. It was home-made tasting, wet, fresh and exactly what I’ve been looking for in Montana. As a former Californian I took for granted the corner taqueria and now that I live in Montana I usually have to settle for some non-authentic Mexican food chain like Café Rio OR try to get into a Mexican restaurant before their ridiculous 3pm closing time. Louie has normal eating hours(7am-9pm, even 11pm Fri & Sat) and will make you fast, authentic mexican fast food and with a «can do» attitude missing from so many businesses in these small towns. Go there. It’s the only of its kind in the state of Montana. Drive the extra 10 minutes if you’re lucky enough to live in Helena. Worth it. I’ll be back.

I’ve only had the burritos but I love them– Lots of slow-cooked flavor in the meats. Louie likes to chat but I’ve never felt«berated» by him like some of the other reviewers– he seems very engaged in his business.

I used to love Louie’s — I’d ate there at each of his past two locations and when I found out about his new location I was excited to try it. I used to order the Nacho’s, which would come on a plate with amazingly seasoned beef, green onions, sour cream, olives and fresh pico de gallo all topped with a handful of actual, real cheese. I was excited to order this again. It was horrible. I ordered«Nachos with everything but Jalapeño’s» and what I got was the most sad excuse for nachos I’ve ever seen. A handful of stale chips slathered in some sort of disgusting ‘cheese foodstuff sauce’, with the smallest sprinkle of actual cheese on top. Literally 12 shreds of cheese, I counted. The once upbeat and cheerful service was substantially degraded. As my wife went through her order she was berated and talked down too. It’s sad, because this place used to be amazing. But its not anymore.

Update: Louie has since moved to the Ice Palace, which is less than convenient. The food is still as good as ever, but every time I go in I get berated for my entire meal(often times just interrupting any conversation I was having with anybody I come with) about how everybody is screwing him over. It makes me not want to go back.
