The archetypical Texas gas-n-grocery. Serves up the biggest baddest cold cut sandwiches for under four bucks. Next time I’m near Hempstead, I’m definitely stoppin in. PROTIP: Google Maps can’t find this address. It’s at the corner of Pine St &US290 Business, aka N 10th St.

Love this place! I stop here anytime I’m nearby. They make the best sandwiches around in their deli. I always get the roast beef. They always pile it on thick, so just one will fill you up. They also sell Dr. Pepper made from pure cane sugar, which is always hard to find in Houston. Great stop if you’re on your way to or from College Station! It’s right next door to the vacated Lawrence Marshall Ford, and it’s always busy. This is a popular stop for railroaders deadheading to Hearne.

Great gas station hole-in-the-wall to stop and get a sandwich. I love stopping here when visiting family. If you like bacon, try the bacon sandwich — just have your doctor on speed-dial.
