Stopped there as a meeting place halfway between CS and Houston. Fried shrimp, hush puppies, okra, etc were all excellent. Was very pleasantly surprised. Will definitely eat there again.

Great place to eat. Awesome customer service and great food at a great price. Food always comes out piping hot. We’ve never left hungry. Take out is awesome too.

Bacon wrapped shrimp was very good, fried pickles were great also! The only think I didn’t care for were the grilled veggies. They tasted a little too charred for me.

Food is bad. Only thing that seems like they can cook right is the burgers. Chicken is very crisp. Can barely eat it. Told manager and she refused to take it off the bill even though it was too burnt to eat it. She had a very rude attitude like if you don’t like it oh well. Waitress said people complain all the time and nothing is done.

I work out in Waller and we are very limited on good places to eat. This place has great service and really good food. The price isn’t bad either. I really enjoy going to eat here when me and my hubby have lunch dates. The waitstaff is always attentive and friendly.

Love this place. I’ve been going for years. I always get fried catfish, fried shrimp, frenh fries, a salad and lately I’ve enjoyed their corn nuggets as an appetizer. Sometimes they are crowded, don’t even try going after church on Sunday. I recommend highly. I’m craving it now!

Stop by a few weeks ago after over hearing some people talking about this restaurant at the gas station. We sat down and our drink order was taking right way. In less then 5 minutes our drinks hit the table along with our appetizer. Shortly after that our food order came out. Everything was hot and fresh. The fried shrimp and the catfish were good but the fries oysters were hit and miss. The staff was super friendly and fast service. One of our orders was wrong and was fixed right away. We will be back soon.

We are there and had the fried fish, okra and coke slaw. The coke slaw was the best we have ever had. We go past Hempstead on a regular basis and will come back. He only thing that was different us that they don’t have a lunch menu on Friday?

Absolutely the WORST resturant protraying seafood we ever tried to eat at. The manger needs some education. And maybe a Vietnamese resturant managership. Had a helpful waitress. Will never stop there again and hope others follow our warning. Dont believe the clients eating here have ever had the pleasure of dining on great seafood. Oh by the way the manager said ‚“Well we got the crab frozen off the truck”…need I say more

My only 1 star restaurant review ever. This is your warning… DON’T GO NEVERAGAIN WORSTRESTAURANTMANAGEMENT I’VEEVERENCOUNTERED. If you are considering stopping at this place because you’re driving down 290… just keep driving. I’d only go here I lived in town and there was no other seafood/steak place. Not very clean. Food sometimes OK or occasionally even good, but often times it’s just plain bad. Restaurant is considerably disorganized. My Final Experience: I called in an order for steak(rare) and fries to go. When I got there it was still no ready even thought it should have been. I decided to sit and wait. While waiting I ordered the Gumbo. I’m from New Orleans originally. It was OK but not recommendable. The waitress never told me that my steak was ready so I sat there 45 minutes unnecessarily. I finally asked and she checked on it and then said, «oh yeah, it’s been ready for a while there. You can take it whenever you like.» Great. Cold steak. I shrug my shoulders, pay, and leave with my cold rare steak and fries. I drive away and pull over a few miles later for gas and discover that my steak was WELLDONE not RARE. And I didn’t have fries it was mixed vegetables. I deliberately order rare steak even though I prefer medium rare because a cook can sometimes accidentally overcook a little. This puppy was seared to the core! And they even screwed up the fries. I drove all the way back to tell the manager… and get my refund and apology. She told me … get this: «that’s what happens here when we cook steaks to go. When we put them in the box the internal heat cooks them well done». This blanket denial that they got the order wrong inevitably brings forth a fountain of follow up questions, including but not limited to: 1) If that’s true how come other restaurants on 290 can do it successfully? 2) Did these laws of entropy which burned my rare stake also cause my french fries to spontaneously change into mixed vegetables? THEMANAGER simply refused to acknowledge the obvious fact that they got my order wrong. She felt no need or desire to apologize in spite of all the inconveniences that had occurred to me and she felt it best to contend that it was the correct order and steaks sometimes change in the box. It was almost like that teenager kid that doesn’t want to admit they were wrong about something. Or perhaps she is overly emotionally attached to the cook for some reason. When I pressed her about the vegetables not being french fries she said, «Well I’ll understand i you never want to come here again. » No admission of error. No apology. No coupon or discount offered. Just a polite«get out and don’t come back.» If something goes wrong during your visit there, the manager won’t be any help. Do yourself and your family a favor. Keep driving.

The parking lot was packed but our family of 12 went in on Sunday about 6pm and they were able to accomodate us. We had the fried broccoli and boiled shrimp as appetizers. Both were good and the shrimp were plump. Between us all, we had most everything. LOL. Food was good. The shrimp and catfish that my husband and I shared was AMAZING. beautiful moist white meat. Im craving it now. It may be a bit pricey but its worth saving up for and having a special treat.

I would agree that the menu was 75% seafood and 25% other. We got steaks and they were great. My mother said it was the best she’s had in 20 years. Someone else had fried shrimp and loved the homemade tartar sauce. Corn nuggets were good. The garlic bread wasn’t a hit with the table but not bad. Our waitress was very polite I wish I had gotten her name. There isn’t much in the area of Hempstead and the city itself didn’t look very savory but this area felt safe. Try it if you are in the area.

One of the worst I have ever eaten at. The shrimp gumbo had more sausage and okra than shrimp. Amazing way to cut corners on cost. I ordered a salad with grilled shrimp. The shrimp was cold and there were only 3 – 4 tables occupied. I have never had a grilled shrimp salad with jalapeño peppers and pickles. Strange and not tasty. Waitstaff was very attentive, however.

Was in the area and decided to eat dinner there after checking Unilocal. Not a lot to choose from in this area. It has a basic interior of a large room with another eating area that is somewhat separated by a wall. It’s menu consists of seafood(75 percent) and steaks and other meats(25 percent). The seafood can be grilled or fried. I decided to order some catfish and shrimp along with corn nuggets and a small salad. The salad was good. When the seafood arrived I realized that it was going to be a lot of grease for my system. Now don’t get me wrong, it’s what I ordered and was a very generous amount of seafood. It was good but with the corn nuggets was too much fried food for me. If you like fried seafood you would have liked this. I wish I had tried some of their gumbo or étouffée. Anyway, the food was good and deserved a solid 3 score. My service was very good.

I have eaten here several times and if you are looking for some good seafood try them. I have eaten their flounder and snapper and have been pleased with the taste. Food comes two ways here fried or grilled. If you are into fried seafood this place has the deal. Their shrimp are good too. Its no frills eating and its priced well for seafood.
