GIMMESHELTER «Established in 1994, SAFE House provides safe shelter, support, advocacy, counseling and community education to Stop Abuse in the Family Environment.» In the U.S., nearly 20 people per minute are victims of physical violence by an intimate partner. Domestic violence accounts for 15% of all violent crime. These are just a couple of statistics that point to why places like SAFE House exist. Offering an actual safe house for victims of domestic abuse, SAFE House lives up to its name and its mission of sheltering those who seek to break the cycle of abuse and start to heal, many after enduring violence in their homes for years. In addition to the emergency shelter, SAFE House also offers : — a 24 hour hotline(702−564−3227) — counseling: for individuals, groups, children, as well as batterer treatment classes and anger management — court and system advocacy: staff and volunteers help victims maneuver through the court process, an often confusing and lengthy ordeal, as well as assist in finding resources for victims to begin new lives on their own. — community outreach and education I work as a volunteer with this organization and it’s definitely a worthy one, offering services that are needed in our community, unfortunately.
