Short Line Express Market

We ALWAYS stop at shortline express on our way through Nevada when traveling. This time we had an exceptionally bad experience, which is a shame. None of the pumps would take our card, and the attendant inside couldn’t seem how to figure out how to take a payment for the pump we were at either. Then he ran out and told us he put our Money on a completely different pump, but that pump still wouldn’t work. After several different attempts at this, our card had been charged, and no gas was received, nor was the great customer service they usually provide. Supposedly he reversed the charges to our card he had taken inside, so we will see. We feel super let down by the lack of customer service shown tonight. On the bright side their bathrooms are one of the best and nicest I’ve seen, and usually pretty clean, but has no child changing tables inside.

Thrifty Ice Cream Alert! Yes they sell it by the scoop here located in this convenience store at the gas station on the corner of Horizon Ridge and Horizon. What’s awesome about it is they sell it ²⁴⁄₇!
It’s pretty inexpensive for $ 1.69 a scoop. 20 different flavors including popular Thrifty classics like Chocolate Malted Crunch and Black Cherry Vanilla. Served in a sugar cone or bowl. The waffle bowls are extra charge.
Ice cream is sold in a separate section right up front at cashier check out area. The employees I first encountered were less than thrilled though to have to scoop ice cream non stop during the day. And they’re probably gonna hate life even more, when Thrifty Ice Cream fans find out they can have it anytime day or night. You may have to wait in line a bit since they deal with being the cashier for customers buying gas as well. I was so relieved to see they do follow standard health precautions and wash their hands each time you order ice cream especially since they multi task and handle money exchange as well. Sometimes they do have somebody dedicated to serving ice cream.
It’s a busy lot but there is enough parking spaces to accommodate the constant traffic. It’s well lighted late night too. No worries on 3am ice cream run here. So now you know!

On the drive back to Phoenix, I forgot to fill up in Vegas, so we had to stop here to fill our tank. It was Sunday afternoon and this place was a zoo! There were 2 to 3 cars deep on each lane… wow, didn’t realize there were that many people who forgot to fill up, ha ha!
We patiently waited, although some a$$ with Utah plates cut us off a lane and smirked at us… what a jerk! Some people are just plain rude.
We filled up and went on our way back home. Didn’t go into the convenience store at all.

IT’S A GAS STATION! What more do you people want?!!
I’m sorry (not really), but I have never walked into a convenience store of any kind expecting to receive 5 star service. I have traveled cross country and stopped at some of the biggest truck stops in the nation, and have yet to meet a cashier who just really WOWED me.
That being said, this place is no different. I’ve never had a bad experience with any of the employees. But I’ve also not had any good experiences with them either. Meh, whatever… like I said, it’s a gas station!
The gas station is affiliated with Chevron (I believe) — which means that their prices are fairly high. This is also the most easily accesible gas station for people who are traveling the 95 South towards the Hoover Dam, since it is right off the freeway at Horizon Dr. As someone else mentioned — getting in the gas station is easy. To get out and back towards the 95, you have to do a u-​turn on Horizon Ridge Pkwy in front of the PTs.
It’s a convenience store, and based off of that alone, I will give it 3 stars. I very rarely buy gas at this location, and mostly stop there for the 24 hour Jack in the Box drive-​thru that is attached to the place.

C-​Stores like this one are why I wish Quiktrip would expand out of Phoenix and just bury them with healthy competition. It’s easy to get into, kinda tricky to get out of especially if you want to get back to I-​515. The gas pumps are up to date and are spaced reasonably well to get in and out of. Inside the store is cluttered but relatively clean. Service can range from ho-​hum to where did they hire those people? Overall I will stop here but I’ve seen much, much better C-​stores than this one.

A gas station that overcharge for gasoline because of the location, location, location. It’s located just off 95 on Horizon Ridge, and it’s pretty clean.
The snack shop is pretty solid, but air/​water machine is often broken, and the employees are a bunch of cheese weasels, especially during the evening.
One night, I went to the get salad at the Jack in Box (which is attached to this station), and an employee from the gas station was walking around the parking lot and looking for a jumper cables for a lady who’s Hummers battery died. Yes, Great customer service, but the store was pretty busy, and there was only one person behind the register at that time, and I’m pretty sure those kids in near the candy section was having a field day with free candies.
Well, Jack in Box was fast in putting my salad together, and I exited out of the building. The employee was still trying to hook up the cables, and kept me waiting. Finally after five minutes the cars started, and the woman was very grateful for the help, and gave the station employee 20.00 for jump.
I seen all of this, and just wanted to go home because waiting outside in 40 temperature is not my thing. The store employee just gave me my cables back, and ran back into the store… if I’m not mistaken, the store has cameras, and I“m sorry your no longer there. Next time, take care of your customers inside of the store, before leaving the store.

I stop here a minimum of four days out the week.
This was not always the case as I once boycotted it due to an employee that was less then pleasant.
When they bounced my money returned.

I got gas here and snacks. What more do you want?
