I made a brief stop here to relax a bit before my rbike ride back to the Wetlands Park. This is really a pleasant park, not too large in size, but as Daniel S. says, grand on scenery. There’s a play area for kids, padded, where a large roadrunner holds court. Large roadrunner eggs are there to crawl in or through. There’s also a boardwalk that goes along the north side of the park overlooking the Las Vegas Wash and Lake Las Vegas. For some areas, this would be considered a pocket park, but that’s OK. It’s a very pleasant place worth visiting.

TERRAZZAPARKISWHERETHEEASTERNMOSTPOINTOFWETLANDSPARKMEETSLAKELASVEGAS Wow, have things changed. It used to be that casinos went up overnight. Now parks are going up overnight. Terrazza Park is so new that in my recent review of a hike in Wetlands Park, I was describing the exact spot as ordinary. Where Terrazza Park is SMALL in size, it is GRAND on scenery. The park overlooks a landscape of the Las Vegas Wash rushing toward Lake Las Vegas. It looks like a painting of a river surrounded by greenery below and impressive mountains above. A small boardwalk overlooks this picture perfect landscape. Similar to recently opened Henderson parks, the focal point of Terrazza Park is an adorable animal playground statue. In the center of the park(very small), is a roadrunner playground statue that wins the affection of people of all ages. From a hiker and bicyclists perspective, Terrazza Park serves as a commendable trailhead. When the City of Henderson built Terrazza Park, they built a parking lot linking the trails to the easternmost point of Wetlands Park. A couple of hundred feet west of the Terrazza Park roadrunner, a signing states that the Wetlands Park Nature Center is 5.7 miles. In the same area there is a bridge crossing over the Wash onto a Wetlands Park trail system that connects to the nature preserve. At sundown the views from the bridge are so beautiful you could cry. Concurrent to developing Wetlands Park, the Wetlands Connector Trail was extended through Terrazza Park, stopping a few feet short of Lake Las Vegas Parkway. It is possible, yet very time consuming to walk or bicycle out of Terrazza Park onto the Wetlands Connector Trail then on the River Mountains Loop Trail and ultimately Historic Railroad Tunnel Trail onto the Hoover Dam or the Memorial Bridge without crossing a major highway at surface level. If your not into hiking or bicycling, Terrazza Park is across the road from Lake Las Vegas Village. I am optimistic that the City of Henderson will put up a crosswalk so that pedestrians could cross the road safely. When that happens, Terrazza Park has the potential to expand Lake Las Vegas Village into eco-tourism. As I write this, chances are that a new casino is not going up overnight. Chances are that somewhere in the Las Vegas Valley a new park is going up. After spending time in the vicinity of Terrazza Park, I am looking forward to visiting the next park that will pop up tomorrow.
