Steak ‘n Shake

Decent, decent, decent.

Place was clean and had the diner feel, which it is so check. The staff was nice, but when it got busy at all it seemed that service was a little lost (my order was wrong, we got the check as they delivered our food without asking us if we even wanted their signature shakes, and it seemed to take a while to get anything out to us). I really liked the food I got though. The sliders and fries were scrumptious and the shakes are too. Overall, good but not great. I will go back for the food, but most likely the drive thru.

Everyone seems to hate this place. The service is inconsistent, but otherwise it’s fine. We’ve been here several times and it’s usually very good for this chain. THE SHAKES ARE THE BEST. Even for a Steak and Shake they are particularly good. The food is average, but it’s better than Wendys down the road. The service is fairly slow but otherwise they’re great. Everyone is complaining about the manager, but we haven’t had problems with him nor seem anyone have problems with him. Even so, I’d pick the drive thru. If you like this place, then come here. But other than the shakes, not much exceptional. If you want something that really stands out and is local, Painturo’s and Chefs Market are two that are great.

My food was not greasy and I got a western bbq bacon burger. I was highly pleased. I also recommend the mint cookies and cream! Yum! And the Parmesan fries! I got all for 7 $ because the shakes are half off weekdays from 2pm — 5pm !

This is the second time I’ve visited Steak and Shake. While the staff were nice, it takes forever in the drive through. They also completely forgot half my order until I got to the pickup window.
The food tasted awful. Like it had been sitting quite a while. The bread was hard and everything was greasy. The fries were cold and just kinda gross. I think this is my last time with this chain.

Yikes– it was like eating in a hospital waiting room. Everyone was coughing or seemed sick. Service was incredibly slow and staff was downright rude to some customers.
Shake was good. Food not so much. If you go– just go through the drive-​thru.

Terrible experience! Beside the wait time for everything (getting seated, being greeted, ordering, getting our food and even paying the bill) we had to listen to the servers fight while they were getting drinks for customers. Not to mention we had to go get our own napkins and several tables had empty condiment bottles so we had to hunt for them at other tables. My 2 year old don’t even get all of her food and no one was around to ask. Went to pay the bill and I mentioned the lack of food, serve and respect for people and the manager (Ryan) decided to be rude and yell causing people waiting in line to leave! He told me to «not come back» while yelling and making my 2 year old cry. I had to stand there while he was yelling so that I could get my change back from the money I paid! This is NO way to manage anything and I understand the lack of everything after dealing with him!

Stay away! This is the worst Steak’n Shake that I have ever visited. They don’t appear understaffed, but the tables were dirty when we walked in and the service is the slowest. I had to ask three times for a refill and after a long wait our server informed us that he did not place our order. And of course my order was wrong! Our server did bring me a large fry while my burger was being corrected, but they were room temperature and tasteless. I will not return here. There are too many decent restaurants in the area to dine.

I honestly don’t know where all the bad reviews are coming from. I ordered steakburger shooters, garlic. Waiter greeted us nicely.
One of the people I was dining with spilled their drink. Waiter was generous. We were given napkins — a lot of napkins.
Everything — the atmosphere, cleanliness, food, and service earns five stars.
The burgers were good. Three mini burgers with the beef patty, cheese, and sauce on the bottom.
What took away the one star was the burger buns, which of course I ordered a buttery garlic burger, but they were loaded– I mean loaded– with butter. Luckily they went a little bit easier on the garlic, though. :)
But other than that, this place doesn’t need all the one and two stars. It earns five.
But if you order a garlic burger, ask for light garlic/​butter.

I wish more places were open late so we’d never have to consider coming here. 20 mins later we got our drinks! Customer service is horrible, and we’ve been here several times and never had a good experience.

The food is decent and the shakes are great, low rating due to poor customer service. Workers are often rude, unhelpful, and self involved. The bare minimum of being friendly and greeting the customer isn’t even met most of the time.

Their corporate office should send in some «secret shoppers». The worst service I’ve experienced in years. The busboy sneezed on my wife.

Bacon double cheeseburger has no bacon. Steakburger with no cheese has cheese. Slowest drive thru I’ve ever been through.

I love a good diner burger, but the distinction of this place is in how terrible the service is. It felt dirty and unkept. Staff was wandering around but no one seemed to be helping any customers. People were lining up to pay their tickets, but no one was at the front to take their payment. The drive thru may be a better option, but I’d just stay away.

Terrible service. My order came with the wrong fries – I ordered Cajun and received the traditional. We ordered a milk shake and when it didn’t come with the meal we gave them time thinking they were making it and would bring it when it was ready. Our server never came back. We stopped another server and asked and she went to get our milk shake and never came back either. We did see her again walking around but she purposefully avoided eye contact with us and after waiting 10 minutes after completing our meal and never seeing a server, manager, or receiving the rest of our order we left. I had the guy at the register remove the items we didn’t receive from the order. I saw the receipt asked for you to leave feedback so I went to the website to do so; the link doesn’t work from any computer I tried for email comments. So I called the number (1−877-STKNSHK) and the woman taking my comments got my name wrong after I reiterated it several times, didn’t summarize my complaint matching what I had just told her as she read it back to me, and when I saw my email summary from corporate Steak and Shake there was nothing in it regarding customer service, no coupons, just a «thanks for letting us know» generality. I never call to leave negative feedback on anything; I know jobs in the service sector can be terrible and I give everyone the benefit of the doubt. In my call I stressed that the server was not rude or bad, just that we never saw her again. I would blame this on management as it wasn’t busy yet nothing seemed to be getting done. I was not satisfied with how corporate handled this issue either. I just read that the board and company as a whole is struggling so I suspect systemic mismanagement of the entire company, especially coupled with the other scathing reviews here.
Anyway, food – decent enough, cheap, small-​to-​mid portions.

They need a new manager, new staff or something new ! Because this place is a wreck ! Every time I order something, the order is completely wrong. I ordered a chili cheese dog that was under cooked, watery and just gross, at the same time my husband went into complain about my daughters hot dog that had mustard on it which we asked to leave off. Every time we have gone through, it has been a disaster with food and service. The girl at the drive through was so clueless she didn’t even give back the right amount of money. Then had a huge attitude. Someone doesn’t know how to cook or count money

Awesome burgers and are open late which is hard to find apparently when you are outside of Las Vegas :) first choice was Taco Hell but then we discovered this gem!

This place is a constant disaster. I have came to this location a couple times and not one time has it given any hope that they want to accomplish something good. Service is dissappointing and slow. The food is the food. What can you expect from Steak and Shake. Greasy everything with no preparation. It is difficult to mess up a milkshake but I was given a different one than what I ordered. So add this to all the other bad reviews. Hire someone that actually cares were they work.

The service is slow and they seem to have a hard time keeping the orders straight. But I love their burgers, and they’re always open. So, I’ll be back.

I will never support an establishment that reenforces judgmental behavior towards their guests.
«I had the WORST experience at Steak N Shake tonight. As I approach the window after placing my order, I can hear the co-​workers talking VERY loudly about me on the other side of the glass: „I thought that was a woman“. „Good god, That guy HAS to be gay“. „He’s gay. He’s totally gay!“. All of them laugh from the other side of the window. I get it, my voice is slightly higher than the average 17 year old, but they crossed the line. When she hands me my food, I say: „Can you please tell (a certain co-​worker) that this window is not sound-​proof, and I will be calling to complain.“ Her face turned blood red. As I pull into a parking spot to eat my food, I see a co-​worker walk outside to the drive-​thru window and REENACT what just happened whilst laughing. I called the manager and he said he knew exactly who I who talking about. I will never go back again. EVER. 5−15−14»
