You know that feeling when you’re invited over to a friend’s place for a house party and the meal is just as enjoyable as the conversation? Phở 1 Grill does just that. On top of having exceptional food and authentic desserts, the staff takes the time, and makes an extra effort, to treat everyone like a regular. They remember your preferences and pays attention to your style. The taro smoothie here is amazing and the boba is made perfectly al dente. The soup base for their phở is significantly higher quality than other restaurants in the area who also have great soup! Their green tea ice cream is imported from Japan and presented in a very delicious manner. Vegetarian options are also just as flavorful. This is a must. Lunch or dinner.

Phở broth is great here and the service is unbelievably great! The best service I’ve ever had at a phở restaurant! I got there one night and they were closing in less than 10 mins, I offered to leave to not screw any of their closing procedures up. Instead they encouraged me to come in and stay for as long as I liked. They served me a bowl of Phở and perhaps the most refreshing glass of beer I’ve had! They made me feel at home and welcomed despite me staying past their closing hours! Incredible place folks!

Service was very slow, grumpy faced front desk staff. Food was barely edible. The tables are too close together for comfort.

Great food and friendly service. My kids amazingly tried everyone’s dinner and loved it all. We will be back often.

Americanized Vietnamese food. The Phở Dac Biet($ 10) came in small portions. It consisted of a meatball thinly sliced, two pieces on tendon, and a few slices of steak. It didn’t have tripes, flank, or brisket. The soup was salty and heavy on anise. It doesn’t taste like they simmered beef bones in it. It’s all about the stock. I probably won’t be coming back.

My coworker and I went here because it was conveniently close to the Hilton(walking distance) and we were looking for some quick and easy. I loved the food here but I do wish they served real bubble tea as opposed to the frozen slushy stuff. It would be awesome if they had more than just the taro balls for the bubble tea(maybe like the lychee jelly or something). It seems to be a family owned and operated business and everyone here was super friendly. I’d definitely go back if I was in the area and feigning for Thai food.

Great phở! We always visit Phở So 1 but having recently moved this is a lot closer for us. We both agreed it’s just as good, if not better! One huge leg up from PS1… Service! The service here couldn’t be better. We’ll be back.

Delicious! Great customer service, only thing I didn’t like is I asked for napkinS and they would only bring one every time I asked for some instead of bringing a few

Man, I’m giving out so many low reviews Went here because my aunt and uncle had gone here before and liked it, but it was kind of a let down for me. I ordered the asparagus and tofu dish from the vegetarian section of the menu because it looked different and like something I couldn’t cook at home, but it was just asparagus and tofu stir-fried in oyster sauce. As a result, I’d like to try more of their traditional dishes before I give a final rating, but this was the second time my other uncle visited, and he was underwhelmed once again. My grandparents also noted that their soups were a little salty, but I tasted some of the phở broth and it seemed fined to me, so the verdict’s still out on that one too. I also had the taro(powder) bubble tea, and it was super sweet. I considered it my dessert rather than my drink. The bubbles were really soft though, which saved the drink from being a complete fiasco. All in all, Phở 1 Grill has okay Viet food with mediocre service-our wait to order and receive our food was longer than most Viet restaurants I’ve been too. I’d go here again for a final verdict and simply out of convenience living in the Short Pump area. I might’ve stopped here for lunch after a shift at the mall if I had known about it earlier.

Very friendly staff. The owner knows basically everyone that are regulars. The restaurant is clean and ambiance is very modern. But the food is average and on the higher end on the prices.

My friends and I were in town and decided to give this place a try because of its high ratings. This restaurant is fairly modern looking for a Vietnamese place. Our waitress was attentive and patient with us ordering. I ordered a phở bowl with meat balls. There was a decent amount of meat balls but the broth was just okay. Overall, we were not too impressed with the food as nothing was outstanding. We all tried different items, vermicelli, phở, rice, and even bubble tea.

This place is super clean and a pretty freaking legitimate vietnamese place. The phở bowls are very big and they give lots of meat unlike many places that like to skimp on this. Also, I didn’t find myself very thirsty after the meal which means they didn’t overdo it with MSG. Boba was actually pretty good at this place too. The tapioca balls were tasty and chewing. The texture was just right. The blender they use to blend up the drink makes the drink very smooth and fine. I believe they use powder to make the drinks but this is pretty common in VA. I have to keep reminding myself that I’m not in the 626.

Nicest phở restaurant I’ve been to. Everyone is very friendly and the Phở Ga is delicious! Not too expensive too. I would highly recommend this place!

I travel a bit for work(was staying at the Hilton across the street). Every once in a while you come across a business that does all the little things right. This place is such a business. It’s clean, nice atmosphere, super attentive staff without being in your face all the time, understandable menu, fresh and good food, and fair prices. I almost didn’t go because their online menu doesn’t show prices, but the high Unilocal reviews and proximity convinced me to go. I had grilled shrimp and chicken to roll yourself in a rice wrap. I made a mess but it was good fun. The Thai iced tea was good and so was the red bean ice cream(1st time I tried that). $ 25 + $ 5 tip = $ 30 for a great meal. Great service and I love places that understand it’s not about doing anything special, it’s about doing the simple things right.

You’re welcomed by a very modern ambiance and familiar Vietnamese flavors! I’m not Vietnamese, but from experience with tastes of both homemade and restaurant cooked food, the tastes here are on point! Bubble tea was creamy and sweet. Yes it was definitely made from powder, so it’s nothing to advertise, but I was happy it hit our boba craving! I had the chicken vermicelli and the chicken was seasoned on the sweeter side rather than savory and eventually I enjoyed it. The fish sauce wasn’t very noticeable when I poured it on my noodles and I’m not sure if I enjoy that better. It did it’s job to moisten my noodles while keeping my veggies crunchy. The few bites of phở I had had very familiar flavors, not watered down and meats were tender and not overdone. I would definitely come back for my next Vietnamese craving!

I’m in Richmond for a conference and Phở 1 is within walking distance, so I decided to grab some lunch. And boy am I glad I did! I ordered P5 and a glass of Riesling. Both were delicious. This was the best phở I’ve had. The broth was so flavorful and the beef was tender. Just so damn good. I’m about to split my pants from being so full. The service was great. My primary server was George and he was very attentive and friendly. Other servers and the manager(or owner??) checked on me as well. The décor is nice and simple, and the restaurant looked very clean. I have zero complaints other than I wish I lived closer.

Decent place to get your viet fix in short pump. Ordered phở, spring rolls, Bahn MI and a bubble tea here during a weekend trip to VA. The staff were super friendly when taking my order and all was ready in about 10 min. My taro bubble tea was creamy and delicious and the phở really light with plenty of beef. However I was not too impressed with the banh MI as my bread was hard and the pork too sweet for my taste. The spring roll sauce was also too watery. Four stars instead of three for being a quick clean stop in spot in an area devoid of good Asian food, but I’ve definitely had more authentic at a lower price.

3.5 Ordered lemongrass but what I received did not taste like it — more of a ginger soy stir fry. Food was decent, but nothing outstanding — soup and spring rolls were forgettable. I did like my bubble tea though

It was pretty slow due to the rain. The staff was SUPER attentive. The décor was clean and modern. Very comfortable. Fancy. Different than the phở places in California. I loved how the chopsticks were individually wrapped instead of in the containers God knows how many hands have touched it. I wish they had small ramekins for the hoisin sauce. I just made my own. The phở broth was good. Tasty. It has a small amount of MSG which is better than most other places where they put a whole bunch of MSG. The crispy spring rolls were ok… I’ve had better. The garlic crispy tofu were ok. I rather have sweet and sour sauce than the salty brown sauce. Overall good experience. Would go back.
