So I had a chicken gyro from here and yes it was my first gyro ever but I absolutely loved it… I’m not sure what sort of sauce they poured all over it but it was amazing… something similar to sour cream. The food is fresh… the chicken was moist and seasoned well. I ate every bit and didn’t mind getting a mess all over my face while stuffing my mouth. I’ll definitely be stopping through this place again!

I ate here last night. The food was good, the Sangria was good when the glass is full to the brim. The crab cakes, mozzarella sticks, and boom boom shrimp were great. The bread was awesome as well. Overall, it was good and I would eat here, again. There are some things that I would like to try. The wait staff was very attentive and accommodating. It is a nice space, as well. I did not care for the fried zucchini.

This is one of our go-to places because you just can’t beat the positive, smiling attitude and service. It’s obvious that the owners care a lot about hiring great employees. The food is generally good to very good. My wife and I nearly always start with calamari because this is one of the few places in town that cooks it properly. We usually ignore the marinara that comes with it and just go with lemon and a little salt. If you’re in the mood for soup, the Italian Wedding Soup is a fine choice. Last night I had the chicken cacciatore and while it was ok, it’s not their best dish. The chicken was all breast meat that was surprisingly tender, but this dish needs bone-in chicken to develop depth. My wife had the better dish of their homemade dolmades, which were considerably better than most. The only reason we don’t eat at Grapevine more often is that the menu pricing is just a little too high for the food quality. Last night, a shared appetizer, two entrees and two non-alcoholic drinks came to $ 62. The service, however, was flawless and our waitress earned a generous tip, putting the total close to $ 80.

Overall a decent place to dine. Probably not my type. Doesn’t get me flavor of European cuisine as much as I would like. Location is easy access and staff is good. I tried chicken condroitara which was ok.

This is genuinely a family business. Family driven and worked by the family. My experience left me wanting to write a review immediately. But, I’ve waited to let my enthusiasm sink in. I’ve never felt so strongly about 5 star service as I did at Grapevine. First the food was excellent. Really prepared by a proven recipe that’s clearly been around for decades. Food? A given! Great! What always strikes me is the almost unbelievable service. From time to time a diner receives from one restaurant to another, special service and it’s always recognized, at least by me. This was spectacular. I can only attempt to tell you how terrific the service was. Let me say, this was the best service I’ve ever, please note, best I’ve ever received in Richmond. Period. Test it. Love it, eat it!

I don’t really know what to say about this place… the staff was super nice and very attentive. Almost too attentive, but far be it from me to criticize anyone for doing their job«too well». I mean, I do understand that there is a point where you feel like you would simply like to be left alone to enjoy your meal but if someone is just trying to excel their job, I am not going give them bad marks for it. The lighting was extremely low. Too low, my husband and I both said we felt like we were constantly trying to adjust to be able to see our food, each other, anything! Otherwise(from what I could see anyway) the restaurant was pleasant enough in décor/style. The food was fairly prompt, no complaints there. I ordered a Greek pasta dish and my husband ordered a seafood entrée. No appetizers, we felt the menu was slightly overpriced for what it was. The food was very average, edible but it’s safe to say this will not become a part of the rotation. The low point, however, was the espresso. I was really in the mood for some after our meal and I thought that it would be safe enough to order a cappuccino in an Italian restaurant. It turned out to be a small latte. Very little espresso flavor, like warm coffee flavored milk. The beans must have been a very poor quality. I didn’t drink mine and surprisingly, the ever-so-attentive server did not seem to notice as it was still on our check. Which is honestly my fault in the end, I did not say anything. I don’t actually know how to complain about a particular food/drink item because«I just don’t like it». I ALWAYS hated people that complained about stuff like that when I waited tables. Usually because they were jerks about it but I was always a sore spot for me.(Especially if you work for a chef that chews YOU out when a customer doesn’t like HIS food.) I’m derailing here, I do have a point. As much as I hated complainers, I was quick to notice if someone didn’t touch their food or drink and didn’t want to take it with them. I would ALWAYS mention it and at least offer them something else if not a refund, depending on who I’m working for. It was part of my customer service education back in the day. This module seems to be missing from the curriculum nowadays since this seems to happen to me fairly regularly now. Maybe I’m just turning into a snob, whatevah…

Overall I would say it is good. Food is good, service is consistent but it is a bit overpriced. Old World Charm needs to be updated & smells musty. But we will return at some point …

If you are looking for traditional gyro meat that’s cooked on a vertical spit, you’ll need to find a different«Greek» restaurant. So disappointing to spend $ 15.00 on a sandwich platter that contains meat that’s formed into perfect little pieces all the same size & shape… reminds me of steak-umm meat. Maybe they should change the name gyro platter to veal-umm platter.

We had such a good time here. We went on a Saturday night and the place was packed… plus it had a large party(someone’s 80th birthday, maybe… it was adorable). The food is delicious. Comfortable, fresh, thoughtful Italian and Greek food. The salads were good — fresh, with a great house dressing. The pasta dishes were super spot on and good servings. You can tell the people who run it really care. The staff was friendly and attentive, even though they were working with a full house. We will definitely go back!

Tonight my wife and I dined at The Grape Vine Restaurant. All in all, a great experience. The service at Grape Vine is among the best I’ve ever seen. The entire staff works well as a team. Besides our server, three other people, including the manager, checked on us to add water and remove dishes. Since leaving, I went to their website. It’s a great family run place and the manager was the son. He seems to really know what he’s doing. As far as food goes, everything was good, but not great. We both started with Greek salads with anchovies. My wife quickly discovered that she doesn’t care for anchovies, but double the anchovies for me are always good! The dressing was great and they apply ample feta. My wife had a gyro platter, which is pretty standard fare. I had Moussaka which, while dry, had great flavor. After viewing the dessert platter, we decided to take an order of Baklava to go. Sooo glad we did. It had a great meaty walnut layer with honey and a hint of cinnamon. Unlike other Greek places we’ve been to, this Baklava was almost the size of a turnover and very moist. I wholeheartedly recommend this place. Since it’s close to my office, I’ll probably return during lunch from time to time. I agree with other reviewers regarding the décor, but I’m not there to eat wall paper and gold finished sconces.

I don’t know what all of the hype is about, but my realtor brought me here once to treat me when we were house-hunting. I was expecting something really spectacular, but got something really basic. Décor is basic. Food is basic. Service is basic. I mean, it wasn’t terrible, but it certainly wasn’t great, either. If you want incredible Italian, go to Mamma Zu or La Grotta.

I have known about Grapevine for some time, but I had never eaten there. Today, my wife was craving Italian food, and I was just plain hungry, so we decided to stop by. –Insert choir here– This was unquestionably a wonderful experience. I say that for two main reasons. First, the staff is attentive. We were looked after by no less than three staff members — the hostess, the bartender and our server. Now, as this was a «lazy» Sunday, it would have been easy for the bartender and the hostess to feel that the server was more than capable of caring for us and just taking it easy. However, that was not the case. That, my friends, is a caring staff. Secondly, the food was food. Good food. Great, actually. The food was not pretentious, packed with superfluous ingredients or unfairly priced. I’m ashamed to admit it, but I have sadly paid more for less quality. I mean, how often do you get seafood alfredo, and not care about the shrimp and scallops(which by the way were stars on their own) because the pasta and sauce are just so insanely good? Other than those things, the décor is nothing special, our drinks from the bar were okay(but not worth the $ 8 paid for them) and our server was not able to answer one of our questions. These items were what cost them a fifth star. In all, though, this was a positive experience. I am not a food expert, but I know what I like. I like Grapevine. I like it enough to go back. I can even confidently recommend it. My only regret is that we did not try dessert… because we were so stuffed. This a great place, and you did not hear that through the grapevine, you heard it from me.

Loved the restaurant! Dolmades and Spanakopita were wonderful as were the Mousaka and Kabobs. Festively and tastefully decorated for the holidays. Top notch service by family who obviously takes pride im their establishment. We will definitely be back!
