I am usually a huge fan of the comfort/family foods and service provided by Cracker Barrel. The fresh food and happy, attentive staff are hard to beat, at most locations at least. This particular location, however, was a complete surprise and disappointment. I was very excited to see no wait on a Saturday evening. So, taking advantage of this, my fiancé and I decided to celebrate our anniversary there. This being his first visit, I was proud to introduce him to the establishment, assuming the standards would be consistent between this location and the St. Charles locations. I was wrong. After being seated, we ordered the chicken fried steak very quickly, because I knew there would be a bit of a wait for our food. When our food was delivered within about 10 minutes, I was skeptical. Rightfully so, apparently. The various side dishes were almost chilled and movable as a mass on the plate. The temperature of the steak was very inconsistent, warm around the edges and cool in the center. Though I should be happy with the abundance of bread, the lack of attention from our waitress meant minimal liquid to wash it down with. While our waitress was at our table every 5 minutes(I timed it), the only one receiving any attention at the table was my fiancé. After receiving the ticket 5 minutes into our meal, I was ignored until the end. While he was bombarded with questions about his food, why he wasn’t eating, if he wanted more bread after eating none of it, new sides(she refused to leave the table until he took a bite of it even though he was already chewing something else), and 3 refills of HIS drink, I sat across from him with the waitress’ back turned to me as if I didn’t exist. Just a tip even though she had apparently been there over 1 year: just because he was paying, doesn’t mean you don’t pay equal attention to all guests. After asking when our meal was cooked, we were told they were made«fresh» that morning and kept on a hot plate until it was time to serve. We were there at 7pm. Very upsetting to hear, especially when compared to the Cracker Barrel locations I’m used to. After only finishing ¼ of our meal(mostly bread), we requested boxes. She brought a to go soda for my fiancé, again I was ignored until I asked for one, and the boxes, then we moved on with our evening. Here’s to hoping it was just an off night, but I have a feeling it’s probably not the case. Long story short, no wait, cold food, and bad wait staff. I will not be returning to this location.

Wasn’t very impressed. Saturday morning figured it was gonna be busy to my suprise it wasn’t walked right in and got a table. That was about the only thing good on this day, server was completely lost had no clue about anything it felt like, food was very bland. I had to use the restroom and told the server and the manager where I was going so my food was left alone came back and everything was gone and manager rudely Handed me the bill… I asked him all about it and just handed the bill back and walked in, wasn’t very happy that my food was taken away and was VERY mad when the manager expected me to pay for it… I’m hoping this is a one time bad review, I will try it again…

It’s a decent place to stop in and eat. I go every so often and always order the trout. It’s quite good. The sides are very good. The service is acceptable. It’s the sort of predictable place you go to when you’re not expecting anything really special. I can’t remember the menu changing in the years it’s been around.

Pretty much what youd expect. Nothing more or less. Hearty homestyle comfort food for fairly reasonable prices. I love the chicken fried chicken and the grilled chicken tenders! Good salads and dressings too. The staff is always friendly service is always decent. No complaints here. Plus i love the country store. Always lots of neat stuff, especially around the holidays.

When I was a kid, Cracker Barrel was the only place my parents liked to go as much as they liked Ponderosa. It was way better than Ponderosa because rather than being scolded for eating my food too fast and getting bored, I got to explore the store until everyone’s food arrived. Now I’m an adult and I’m not so easily impressed with Cracker Barrel. Reason #1: I’m a vegetarian and used to enjoy their hash browns until my inquiring brought the news that there is chicken stock in them. What? There is no need for that. Reason #2: They(or the one waitress) were(was) unable to customize my order. I wanted the oatmeal with fruit, but I dislike golden raisins. I asked for those on the side, or all the fruit on the side so I could do the mixing myself. I was brought a bowl full of oatmeal and golden raisins with fruit on the side. Even after I picked the golden raisins out, the oatmeal was nothing to write home about. Lunch is almost as difficult for my vegetarian ways. However, I still like the Old Country Store end of things as well as the game boards at the tables. If I’m forced to go, I’ll eat enough before so I can just have the applesauce, which is delicious.

This was a decent Cracker Barrel. I prefer the one in Fenton; the service is a bit slow here, but I’d go back.

can’t go wrong here. every time i come into town i HAVE to go here and get the chicken and dumpling platter. it comes with two sides and i usually get the mac and cheese but probably never again. they changed it for some reason and it was not good! the waitresses are nice, the atmosphere is a little loud with all the kids running around. and i don’t suggest getting the cornbread — dry and bland.
