Here is my take on the Hercules Swim Center, with the Pros and Cons. Pros: 1) The swimming pools are very nice. 2) They keep the area clean and very pleasant. 3) The parking is ok as well, unless their is basketball game, then no parking. Cons: 1) This swim center is extremely expensive at $ 80+ bucks a month?!, compared to other swimming pools(example– the Richmond Plunge) 2) People that work their don’t know anything, most of them probably students, working for free labor. 3) When you pay for swim time, or events, or meets, it is non-refundable, they really need to post this up and make it visible, many parents are dumbfounded by this invisible fine print. 4) If their are very few swimmers, they shut the pool down. Even if you already paid for it. So loss of pool time and money! The pools are great, but the policies should be more consumer and family friendly, which they are not. If it is hot sunny day and you don’t want to travel outside of Hercules, then this place is ok.

It’s a lovely swim center… absolutely terrific for wee little ones because there are so many different shallow places to play. Also fun for older kids. It’s a little on the pricey side, but I’m okay with it if my kids can get a couple of hours of good swim time. My MAJOR gripe is about the capacity policy. If you decide to go on a day that isn’t super hot, it is very risky. If 25 patrons don’t show up during the first hour, the pool closes, and you don’t get your money back! For this reason, I seldom go there, and I bet I’m not alone. So, it’s basically a catch-22. Kooky policy = fewer customers.
