Megan Shinkle

I met Megan at an advanced doula training we attended and must say she’s a great person. The first time we met I felt like we knew each other for years. We remain in frequent contact and is someone I can say is caring and truly reliable. I worked as a postpartum back-​up doula for her and she is knowledgable, trustworthy and sincerely caring. If I personally needed a birth or postpartum doula she would be the first person I would ask and refer out to. There are very few people I can depend on and I’m glad to say she is one of them.

Megan is WONDERFUL! Incredibly knowledgeable and sweeter than pie, her caring disposition and calming demeanor totally put my mind and heart at ease with the birth of my son. She is compassionate, attentive and reassuring. I was lucky to have her in my time of need. Would HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

Without a doubt, Megan helped us get through the first 3 months of having an infant. We felt very comfortable knowing that our daughter was in her care during the nights that she worked for us. Having Megan helped our whole family, and I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a night doula!

I am very grateful to have trained as a doula with Megan. Our connection began prior to our training when we met at a breastfeeding support group and upon first meeting she gave me a small compliment which left a lasting impression. During our doula training she made herself available in no uncertain terms and has been an accountability partner ever since. While I was supporting a mother in labor I hit a wall after 19 hours and needed a break. Mom was getting really active and my ability to support was insufficient. Megan came to the rescue, immediately, at 1am, helping my client in a crucial moment while I took a nap so I could return to work refreshed a few hours later. I have no doubt that the skills and dedication Megan brought to this birth in support of myself and my client were a major contributing factor to the optimal outcome achieved for the family. I WILL be using her as a back-​up continually in the future.

I have witnessed Megan’s gentle and thoughtful work with mothers and families. Sometimes she was crouched on the floor at 2 am with a labouring parent, encouraging them.. another time she was using her training during a late night change of position to relieve back pressure. What I liked most about what I saw was that Megan was totally connected to the work she was doing and her entire focus was on her client’s needs. You matter to her!
Her well rounded education makes her an asset to all families. If you want nonjudgmental and sincere support, you’ve found it.
