For starters the free samples you get equal a whole piece of brat otself. Juicy smokey flavor makes your mouth water. Definitely the best of the wurst

Had lunch here today. Very impressive place! They walked me through a 9 brat sampling before lunch. My favorites are the Jalapeño cheese brat and the Best in show brat. I can’t wait to return!

This is a great place. It’s brats are now world famous but it’s still a small operation. They have a small lunch counter and the food is really good! I had a mushroom and Swiss brat and it was fantastic. If you’re passing through I highly recommend you stop. It is great for a quick lunch and to bring stuff home with you to cook. They use locally sourced meats for their products. They still offer deer processing!

The last time I was in Hermann, I didn’t get a chance to go to Swiss. And that was a crying shame. We weren’t going to miss it this time around. Imagine every wonderful thing that can be made out of a pig, and it’s there for you at Swiss Meats. And it’s all delicious. I’m probably lucky that it’s three hours away. I usually try to come up with a bunch of good adjectives for my reviews, but it’s not necessary at Swiss. Just a verb. Go.

We were just driving along route 19 and came across this place. Very nice facility with all kinds of food products mostly about pork but also lots of preserved food too. Many kinds of sausage and bacon. Lots of tasting bowls and just when you’ve worked your way to the many sausage freezers in the back, a very perky lady offers a sausage tasting. Six or seven and their pepper bacon. Now that’s pepper on that bacon! Be prepared. All that we tasted were very good. Both smoked products and un-smoked. As would be expected, we liked some better than others but that’s just us. A really fun place to visit.

We visited Swiss earlier this week and purchased several packages. Our daughter and her hubby to be grilled some tonight. We are going to have some for brunch the day of there wedding. They couldn’t believe how good they were. We lost track of which flavor swear had, but they were all a five. Now we need to find a way to get them to Humeston.(Brats, I forgot to mention what we purchased.)

Every time we are anywhere within 50 miles of Swiss Meat we stop and stock up. They have the very best sausage and brat’s we have ever eaten.

Swiss Meat offers standard sausage and deli meats made locally, but they really excel at bison and elk sausage. All the deli meats had samples provided and while most weren’t up my alley, I liked being able to try before I buy. They have a small cheese offering, mainly processed cheese product, but the dill and garlic cheese curds are pretty tasty. We bought a small bag($ 6.50) for a picnic later. They have a small deli counter as well with sandwiches and some warm offerings like brisket sandwiches. We didn’t try the food at the counter but it seemed reasonably prices at ~$ 6 for a sandwich/meal.

We were disappointed. Yes, this place has a huge selection of cured sausages including those comprised of elk and bison. They also had whole smoked turkeys and chickens. We sampled many types of sausage but none stood out as special, although the elk wasn’t bad. Specialty brats abounded for those who like other ingredients mixed into their meat like cheese or apples or whatever else you can think of but we prefer to do the combining myself on our plates by adding our own garnish. Most importantly there was no plain old pork sausage that can be fried and served with biscuits and gravy and we used to be able to buy at wurst marts. However, the place was fun to visit and sample the various sausages and many people found what they like. Unfortunately, we did not.

We love this place! It’s just full of meat. The best section is the bratwurst part with over fifty different kinds of brats and sausages. We stood there for a very long time trying to decide which kinds to get. There are all kinds of cuts of pork, beef, you name it… and samples are all over the store. There’s a deli counter if you need a sandwich right away. The worst thing about this store is trying to make up your mind!

Small deli in the store. Wide variety of cheeses, meats and brats. My husband loves their German potato salad. Also, try the pickled watermelon rinds.

They have more types of Brats and Sausage than you could imagine, Can you say Pizza sausage? I enjoyed the andouille sausage but the Beer Brats were unbelievably good. Stop by if you can they have samples everyday. worth the out of the way drive if you’re in Hermann for the Wine or Beer.

I’m a fat guy, and as such I’ve eaten a hell of a lot of bratwurst from a hell of a lot of places. They all claimed to be the best. They were wrong. The best is right here. Not in the state either. The COUNTRY. To get a better bratwurst I suggest you either move to Germany or make a pact with Satan. And if you do tell him«hey» for me. And remember kids, they ship anywhere.

Another out of the way place to stop when camping(yes, we camp a lot) and this is the kind of place you should stop in on the way HOME from camping. They have a great selection of meats and great brats(if you want Apple Brat’s check out my other review for Leroy’s) Check the site, check the place and if your going to Schwag stop in or stop by.
